"They're more or less a sentient fluid with a membrane. They need to absorb certain things to be able to create certain parts and do certain things. There's no gender and they're all basically the same, but not a one identical. Oh. And they exist with a fourth dimension." Dari smiled. That was the long and sort of it, right?

"Cool!" Cody smiled. The idea of sentient fluid was intriguing. "And you came up with them?" he asked, smiling at Dari. "Are you ready to go see your surprise?"

Dari nodded and rushed to Cody, giving him a kiss. A surprise? Other than his star? It wasn't quite dark enough yet for stargazing, was it? Regardless of all of this, he gave Cody a hug and took his hand as they headed upstairs.
"Do you want to take my car or yours?"

Cody returned the kiss happily. "Come on," He said, when Dari took his hand, and led him upstairs. "There's a surprise for you up on our mountain, but you're going to have to find it. I've hidden it."

Ooh, like a scavenger hunt! He'd never really been to one of those, and he'd skipped over the acceptable age bracket to take part. Hopefully he wouldn't take until dark!
Cody hadn't answered his questions about cars, however, so he simply followed Cody out, saying goodbye and thank you to Toby and Maia as they left.

"Thanks for inviting me," Cody said, looking to Toby and Maia. "It was fun." He smiled at the two before exiting the house.
He led Dari to his car. "I'd say yours, but mine has necessary supplies," He said. He opened the passenger side door for Dari.

Necessary supplies...? Huh. Alright then. He smiled and climbed into the car after Cody. He'd never had a birthday quite like this. Man, what he wouldn't do for a good marshmallow right about now!
"Do you think someone will have already found it?" he worried.

In the back seat, the "necessary" supplies weren't hidden at all. A bag of marshmallows, two roasting forks, some graham crackers and several bars of chocolate.
"Nah. Its hidden pretty well. I found it earlier this week and I thought you'd like it."

Oh look! Marshmallows! Had Cody found a fire pit, then? That seems strange for such a beautiful field. What was he up to? What sort of secret was it if he had to find it himself first? Every avenue was exciting! In fact...
"I'm excited." Dari smiled and leaned over to smooch Cody's cheek as they drove.

"I wanted to take you camping sometime, so if the campsite's decent, we could go one time. Its closest to our spot." He smiled at the kiss. "I love you," he said. "After, let's go find your star."

Well they were going on the fourth, weren't they?
"You found a campsite?" Dari asked. Of course there'd be dinner some place at some time, but were they sleeping at the site? Who had made it, and how had it been so well-hidden for so long? It was almost like fairly magic. "Did you and your dad make it?"

"Yeah!" Cody beamed. "I did. I found a campsite and it's the closest one to our spot--" he paused at the question and shook his head. "No," He said, "I wish we had. Then we'd have one right in our field."
"I thought it would be great for our camping trip, though! I didn't bring a tent with me," he added, thoughtfully, as he seemed to consider the idea of sleeping there tonight. "Stay at my place instead? Hey! Have you ever made a blanket fort?"

Ah, so they wouldn't be sleeping there. Good. Dari had been looking forward to curling up with Cody and a movie on a nice warm bed, not falling asleep shortly after dark on the ground.
"We could always make our own," Dari said. "I'm sure there's laws against it, but oh well." He smiled and nodded then, "Of course I have." And he had, with another grown man, not too long ago. Then before that, back at the lab when Toby had been trying to cheer him up. It had worked.

Cody paused at that. He looked to Dari. That was right; he'd said he knew most of the law enforcement around here. And he was a secret agent. They could act as if they were scouting out the area for dangerous criminals! ...No then the police would want to be involved.
"We could," he agreed. "Let's make one." He pulled into a drive away and got out of the car. "Ready to find it?"

Dari smiled and took Cody's hand. The walk up to their spot was easy to remember and they stood there a while just admiring the view before Dari started to look for the campsite Cody had mentioned. Where would it be?
"Hot or cold?" he asked. Playing the game would help him find it!
