Oh, well... At least I got into an elective about the Jacksonian Period in American History. *LOVES Andrew Jackson stories* emotion_awesome The only problem is it's an 8am class so now MWF will suck hardcore. e_e;
*pokes TN* Although I still think your love for Andrew Jackson is hilarious. Even when you voted against his followers it was always because of something adorable like "I don't trust them! They're just using the General to get ahead. >.<" Soooo protective towards him even though you knew he was kind of a jackass.
He liked bein' called a jackass... He thought it was a clever pun on his name.
Jackson... Jackass... *snickers* One of my favorite things about him was that TN's "daddy" really HATED Andrew Jackson with a passion. They tried to kill each other a few times even though TN's daddy was the governor. xd

Hm, I probably could pass off for free beer this year. *is now of legal age* However I'm much too southern to have any other accent. Xp I know my sister could since she has red hair. My family's dentist has 7 kids, all red heads and they took violin lessons around when my sister did. The youngest daughter looked to my sister all confused.

Hm... Georgia and Jackson... OH. The Georgia Gold Rush was why the Trail of Tears happened! (Well, it would have eventually happened anyway, but it wound up being the trigger.) Part of the Compact of 1802 was that the U.S. had promised GA he would remove the Cherokee living within the state's borders in return for him giving up the lands that were given to Mississippi and Alabama. The Cherokee still owned land titles in Northern Georgia so when gold was discovered around there in 1829 he started pressuring the U.S. about it. Then President Andrew Jackson was in the middle of dealing with the Nullification Crisis and was basically like "******** it! The Cherokee would be better off away from all this bs anyway! >_<" so he put Jefferson's removal plans into motion. (From Jackson's writings he *coughcondescendinglycough* did think it was the best thing for them, but when the states actually put the removal into action all of them quickly realized "... We've made a mistake. This is a bad thing we're doing... Q~Q" but they couldn't stop it because they had their orders.)
I'm sure there were other key GA and Jackson interactions but that's the main story you hear. Since, you know, Trail of Tears and all...
That's a terrible story... ._. First you have to talk about Martin Luther King gettin' assassinated, the KKK and now the Trail of Tears?

Just because my hatred for him is so intense it goes into my own characters somehow. I want to punt that man. I remember at some point I was talking about him, and I was like "Augh, I remember him!" and my friend looked at me like " emotion_eyebrow I didn't know you were hundreds of years old, Jackie." pff. Oh yeah. and my name in real life is Jackie, and I am the most creative ******** person on the planet when it comes to names. That's actually one of the few things most Georgians really feel "White Guilt" over any more. Yeah, some feel bad for slavery, but then with how often the "Because I'm black" card gets played, a lot of people are becoming more and more immune to it. (Especially since white people are a minority through quite a bit of the state now.) However, any time we mention the Cherokees, especially in schools...... There's always an air of guilty conscious, even among children who know pretty much nothing about it. After all, we pretty much kept all of the Cherokee in an encasement similar to how POWs were treated in the Civil War for months before sending them out west by foot... During the Winter. Any one from Georgia who doesn't feel a little guilty, even if that was way before your time, is sort of seen as heartless. Especially considering where we sent them.

*shamelessly writes in paragraphs double ducing all who try to stop it* Omgz I love Andrew Jackson because he's such an unapologetic bamf! He's so hardcore but I don't think I'd ever want to meet him in real life. He'd probably be super hard to get along with. I don't always know how much blame I should place on him for the Trail of Tears... It wasn't really his idea considering he had nothing to do with the Compact of 1802 even though he wound up being the one to put it into motion. (Although I think it was President Van Bueren who actually oversaw the removal.) But I do blame him for not trying to find either a more humane way to see it out if not at least trying to prevent it all together...
