"I did indeed young price, I have been your mother's guard for nearly as long as he has been in Asgard." Skadi smiled gently at the boy. "My main duty is to one person but I also help protect Asgard as a whole. Just as the Avengers do. They protect each other first and the rest of the realm second do they not. I work much like that.” Skadi explained to the boy giving his queen a small smile two let her know that he did not mind Fenrir's questions. At the question of whether he enjoyed protecting the queen or not he smiled brightly at Fenrir. "Nothing could make me happier than protecting your grandmother." he assured.

Fenrir wrinkled his nose at Skadi. “I’m not a prince. I’m just Fenrir.” He said slowly. He wasn’t a prince, he lived on Midgard. His mother wouldn’t go back to Asgard. Listening to his explanation, Fenrir gave a little hum, seeming to understand. Hearing him say that he liked protecting Frigga, Fenrir gave a small smile. “IT’s good that someone protects grandmother.” He said slowly. “Is it hard to protect her?”

Skadi smiled at the boy and shook his head. "Your mother is a prince and whether or not you wish it to be that makes you and your siblings royalty." Skadi explained. When Fenrir asked more questions he smiled a shook his head. "Not at all your grandmother makes it very easy unlike your uncle. Your uncle was quite a terror to his guards and his parents." Skadi teased.

“But I don’t live on Asgard. I live on earth and I’m not a prince on Earth.” Fenrir replied. Even if he wasn’t as troublesome as his uncle, he knew how to argue and wasn’t scared to do so. Hearing mention of Thor being troublesome, he glanced across the table at his uncle. “Mother says he’s troublesome now.” He said slowly. “Do you fight a lot of people?” he asked when he turned back to Skadi.

"You have lived on Asgard though. Besides the fact of you being a prince has nothing to do with where you live but your blood. After all your mother is a prince even though he does not live on Asgard or Jotunhiem. Yet he is a prince of both realms." Skadi explained to the boy. Hearing the boy say that Loki still thought that Thor was troublesome now had Skadi chuckling. "Not so many Asgard has been in peace with other realms when your mother was brought to Asgard." he explained.

Fenrir wrinkled his nose at Skadi's explanation. He didn't want to be a prince. When he lived like a prince was when bad things happened. Not to mention that it sounded like he had to go back to Asgard and he didn't want to do that. He liked Earth. He liked living here and being with the Avengers and with Tony. Hearing that Skadi didn't do a lot of fighting, he looked at the man critically. "If there aren't people to fight, then why does grandmother need someone to protect her?" He asked slowly. Of course at that moment Steve and Bucky began bringing our food and Frigga put Fenrir in his seat, though the boy pouted a little. Looking to Skadi, Frigga smiled. "Thank you." She said quietly. Not many people would have been patient with Fenrir like Skadi had been.

Skadi smiled when Fenrir wrinkled his node at him. The pup was amusing and curious about many things. "There are always bad people looking to do harm to those that are good, I am there to prevent someone from harming her." Skadi answered as Frigga moved the boy to his seat. "You are welcome my queen, but his questions are alot easier to answer than Loki's were at his age." the guard chuckled at that memory. His younger self fumbling to answer question posed to him by a young Loki that he had no idea about.

Frigga laughed at Skadi’s response. “Give him time, he will reach that point soon. He is his mother’s child after all.” She said softly. Helping to serve Fenrir, she tucked Fenrir’s hair behind his ears with a huff. She’d have to talk to Loki about cutting it. She had nothing against long hair, but boy’s Fenrir’s age were too young to take care of it. “It’s a shame you never had children of your own Skadi….you would have made a wonderful father.”

Skadi nodded when his queen said that Fenrir merely needed time and would hit Loki's questioning point. At the comment of him potentially being a wonderful father he raised an eyebrow and laughed. "I am thankful I never did while watch loki, he was quite a handful with his tricks. But I had hoped someday I would get the chance. Alas it is not to be." Skadi responded in good humor.

Frigga smiled warmly at the laugh she managed to bring out of Skadi. “A fact for which Asgard will be regret.” She said gently. Any children of Skadi’s would have been wonderful people and citizens. “Loki adored you, even if he never said it. He looked up to you and trusted you unlike so many others.” She said, looking to her plate. “In many ways you were more of a father to him than Odin I think…..” she added quietly. Her inability and ignorance to protect her son from Odin would always weigh heavily on her heart. She’d failed him so horribly in that aspect.

"Fear not my queen I am content as I am." Skadi said soothingly. Hearing her say that Loki had adored him he nodded. He had known such things when Loki was very young, the young prince would often tail him about the castle when Skadi was off duty. He had never minded though and always helped Loki where he could. When the queen continued to say that he had been more of a father than Odin he frowned. While he had no doubt such things were true it still did not please him to see the queen upset over such things. "I am sure he tried before he became sick." he answered even though he knew Odin hadn't eeally. Thor had always been his child and loki something to hide under the carpets as fast as he could. It had only been Frigga that had saved the young prince.

“You do not have to lie to preserve my feelings Skadi.” Frigga said slowly. “Lying to myself was what made Loki suffer as he did, I know that.” She’d never forgive herself for the mistakes she made with Loki, and she didn’t need anyone else trying to defend her choices for her. She could only hope that Loki and Thor would learn from her failures. “Tell me Skadi…what do you think of the people my sons have chosen to love. You have been remarkably silent about that.”

Skadi frowned when Frigga said that he did not have to lie to preserve her feelings. "I have no doubt that Odin tried in his own way. He tried to keeping Loki from making his mistakes with the laws he set." Skadi said shaking his head. He hadn't been trying to make his queen feel better, he could see how Odin might have tried to keep Loki safe in his own way. He was happy for the subject change when Frigga asked about her son's partners. "I think they have both chosen very strong and independent partners that will suit them but I think both of your sons will find their own conflicts in each realtionship. I am sure that they will over come those difficulties however." Skadi stated nodding to himself.

Frigga frowned slightly at Skadi’s words, but didn’t respond. Could she see his point? Yes. Did she agree? Not really. Odin had tried to control Loki, not protect or nurture him. He hadn’t been a father to Loki, and Frigga doubted that he had really ever wanted to. Listening to Skadi talk about Tony and Jane, she couldn’t hold back a small laugh. “Strong and independent may be an understatement in these circumstances.” She joked. Both humans were stubborn and reckless in all honesty. But she could agree that they matched her sons. Jane was thoughtful and curious, without a hint of the violence and brawn that characterized Thor. And Tony was confident, bold, and blunt, traits Loki had restrained for so long. Hopefully they would balance her sons and ground them. “When both decide to officially announce their relationships on Asgard the people will be in for a shock. Humans to marry into the royal line. Our ancestors would faint.” She smiled.

Skadi smiled when Frigga said that the two partners for her sons being strong and independent was an understatement. He could see the point his queen was making both Jane and Tony were headstrong and yet had they each had their own other strong points. "I think Thor would do that soon but Loki must be able to return to Asgard and I do not believe that will happen for a while." Skadi explained. He thought it might never happen, of Loki thought that Asgard would never accept him or Tony.
