You want money? Go out and make it your own damn self. I don't care if it's your freedom, or anyone else's. Humans were all created equally, everyone deserves the right of being able to think, choose, and live for themselves and their loved ones...and that's the freedom I fight for, you p***k.

No, no, I don't need money. I'm just saying, at the rate this guild sends members to the military, I may as well get paid like a recruiter. The National Science Foundation will be footing my bills for another 2 years.
And thanks for the service, but honestly hackerss sitting at home in their underwear are more valuable to maintaining said freedom at the moment. Maybe you want to try picking up a keyboard instead of a rife? The military may be the most disciplined of all public servant professions, but that doesn't entitle it to the credit it gets for keeping the peace in this particular country, as it does the least day to day work in maintenance. I think just having a nuclear arsenal takes care of 95% of the peace keeping thing.

Well you do make a good point, but what about when the government goes batshit crazy and then the people start a "rEVOLution" and get gun happy? /tinfoilhat

Government goes bat s**t crazy and start prepping unsanctioned nuclear attacks on any country...well at that point I've gotta lend my support to those rEVOlutionary types you just pointed out. Not for any particular dislike of the government, which given the situation it's found itself in is kind of a crap shoot any way you look at it, but for the simple fact that one of the basic founding principles that this country is based on is the right for the citizen to regulate it's government by force of arms if need be. Right to bear arms...in case the government flips it's lid and tries to go totalitarianism, in which case I'd figure it's every red blooded American's duty to pick up a rifle and enforce a change.
*Shrug*
As for the cyber warfare deal...you think we leave that to civilians? The MOS I was going to reenlist for would place me in charge of maintaining and upgrading the very systems used in MI - including cyber warfare.

Yup. I am still alive if anyone cared to wonder.
*Edit*
Oooo! Revolution talk? Government going nuts with power? Hackers and rifles. Now this is my kind of conversation. And speaking of your being the next thing to a recruiter? Eh. Didn't get me to join hah hah!
In the coming years, however, I do believe that there will be equal need of those will computer skills of the black hat style as well as those of us who know which end of a rifle points where. This oh so great nation is still on a rather rocky road that could very well lead to ruin.
