hum... zeta said 'i have many hypothesis.' those were developed from past experience in training when dealing with related psychological problems. that's just one kinda tangent idea. he then goes on to describe how the /general nature/ of paranoia would affect theta's ability to slice and pilot, specifically answering psi's question of how he got selected in the group when he's paranoid (and pointing out that it is not necissarily a disadvantage in all cases, and in fact can be an advantage, which would provide a possible explanation to why he was selected).
and he assumes his paranoia must come from somewhere else, because it existed up to and during geonosis, everyone's first battle, which means the paranoia came before he'd ever experienced battle. ergo, it was not battlefield-related.
and you're correct, he would have to monitor them, unless he's ordered explicitly and simply to keep them from dying and deliver them for transport. especially in the case of jedi, who i wonder about when it comes to battle fatigue.
in fact, you'll notice Zeta monitors all of his comrades very strictly. he obviously thinks about their conditions a lot.

But Zeta never met Theta on the battlefield. So to derive that theory means that Zeta would had to know Theta before the battle.... perhaps a plotline!

Perhaps Zeta is the cause of Theta's paranoia! I smell a soap opera!

*nod* that thought crossed my mind too. zeta does seem to have a little bit of an inclination towards theta. and on the one transport, he said to theta straight out that he couldn't help paranoia...
