"Yeah, I like it, and we're lucky enough to have GPS to send us back home." He didn't want to go home right now, though. This was nice.
"I'm thinking about telling my parents. You know, giving them a whole year to get over it."

"I wrote mine," Luca said, "Before I gave you the ring. But I haven't gotten a response." Honestly, he didn't expect one. "Do you think they will?" he asked. From what he'd heard Lori's parents were so traditional that he'd had to lie about being with a woman.
He wasn't terribly optimistic.

"I have no idea. When they moved out into humanity it was during the time when homosexuality was criminalized," he said with a shrug, "I mean, my clan wouldn't give a damn. It's rare but it's not unheard-of. They call it having twin spirits. So, if you want to use my clan and not my parents, I'd be all for it." He paused and sipped his tea.
"Well if you've come out I guess I have to now."

"I'd like to meet your parents," Luca said. The people who'd brought Lori into the world couldn't be entirely terrible. They'd raised him, after all. He sipped at his tea, looking over his cup to Lori.
"I don't want them upsetting you."

Lori waved a hand dismissively as his brow furrowed.
"I've lived away from them for a long, long time now. I love them, but if they disapprove it's not going to upset me. You're who I choose, regardless of what my parents think of it."

Luca pause hand immediately reaching for Lori's and giving it a squeeze. "I love you," he said. It didn't matter what their parents thought--they were together. "I hope my mother can keep dad from pitching a fit. She's more reasonable."

"I love you too," he replied. He smiled softly. "Well, let him pitch whatever fit he wants. He can hate me all he likes for making his gorgeous son gay."

Dari was lounging in the back yard, enjoying the warm weather, when Toby came back inside to make a call. Dari's birthday was four days away, and he wanted to make sure everything would run smoothly. He'd never had to coordinate with a boyfriend before.
He dialed Cody's number, having gotten it from Dari, and waited as it rang. If he was out of work, the kids were all out of school.

Cody didn't recognize the number on his phone. At first he was apprehensive; a scam? There were only so many times one could believe they'd won an all expense paid American cruise from a heavily accented person asking for their credit card information.
He answered on the second ring. "Hello?"

Toby leaned against the edge of the dining room table.
"Hey! Cody, it's Toby. How are you?"

Toby? Why was Toby calling him? Cody looked at his phone in brief disbelief. "Hi Toby!" he said. "I'm good, how are you?"

"Good, thanks," Toby said. He glanced outside and saw Dari happily swaying in the hammock. They still had a little daylight left. "I was just calling to see if you and Dari had any plans for Saturday."

Woah. Woah. Dadmode wanted to know if they had plans? Why didn't he just ask Dari? "Saturday? I don't think so... We're supposed to go camping on the fourth, though."

Really? "Oh. Well then do you want to come over for food and cake? I figured you'd have planned something for the day at least." Weird.

"Food and cake?" Cody echoed, blinking. Was Toby having some kind of party? "Is something special happening Saturday?" he asked. Why would Toby expect them to have made plans?
