'cept Monks do less damage with weapons equipped, so dual-wielding would be a waste.
Incorrect. Dual wield makes them punch twice.

Pain much?
Orly? ...never knew that. neutral I retract my statement then.

WHERE ARE MY PS1 MEMORY CARDS?!

Jello has broken the game world.

And considering the absurd amounts of damage monks sometimes seem to punch for, the calculus seems simply unnecessary. Hell, if it's the right monk, dual wield is unnecessary except for demons.

My Ramza would always dual-weild monk as his endgame build.

450 damage per punch... twice. Plus a 650 earth slash. Plus the ability to rain death, destruction, or healing across the entire field when applicable.

Plus Blade Grasp so he's invincible against physical attacks.

Plus a good amount of equipment for magic evade%.

The only thing that's ever been able to kill him so far has been a group of 6 level 99 dragons all breath-weaponing at once.

edit: And yes, I did bother to finish most of the endgame fights with a party of just him. Operating term is 'bother to'.

I did that with T.G. Cid, only making Monk his secondary. rofl

Edit: I really wish I knew where I put those memory cards... emo

But Cid is just broken. That's not an accurate assessment of 'good build'.

Most of the specific character base classes are overpower, with the exceptions of Ramza's Squire, Mustadio's Engineer, (girl)'s Dragoneer... oh, and Malak and Rafi, who are entirely useless.

I always stripped them of all their gear after their little storyline was up.

I just wish you could have gotten Oman... the astrologer guy.

Galaxy Stop looked like an awesome spell.

Yeah. He was useful. Him, and those annoying assassins.

I like how the assassins were... y'know... the only possible way to get one specific spell. And it was only possible in one fight with them. And only if you did everything just right. Because there was no way to get them to do anything but the 100% Death 99% of the time.

Lawl. Ultima. So incredibly useless... and so hard to set-up for learning that most people probably never even knew it was in the game.

That level where you have to keep Rafa alive.

They usually went first, and would always stop her then kill her. If I got a character who could kill one to go before they got to her, though, I'd have the fight.

Edit: moarlawl. I got ultima and didn't even know it was hidden there.

The only storyline fight I ever had trouble with was the Ramza vs. Weigraf 1-on-1... since he just had an overwhelming advantage in both range and power if you hadn't over leveled your guys.

...on the same note, Ramza vs. Gafgarion 1-on-1 was sissy s**t. Raped that little man.
PostPosted: Sat Sep 29, 2007 1:26 pm

That fight with Weigraf as tough. I don't understand how Owle was having more trouble with the demons after than the one on one part.

I liked to cheat with Gafgarion. My main group took no time at all to wipe their side clean, so I just sat Ramza near the gate and ignored him. He was always dumb enough to run straight into the field of my summoner's casting.

I think that's the only time in the game the computer didn't exploit the knowledge it got but you didn't about where the enemy's targeting.

...you... DID get to see where the AoE of their targets went. Not only when they do the targeting, but you can look at the turn chart and by selecting a member/action you'll see when and where it will go off.

As for Gafgarion... there was no easier fight than the time I already had Ramza near maxing Ninja by the time I got in there. Had to improvise with the weapons, though, since they hadn't started making ninja gear available to you yet since you weren't supposed to have the job.
PostPosted: Sat Sep 29, 2007 1:35 pm

Yeah, I never bothered to get vastly ahead of what I needed like that.

And I always forgot where they target went and... well... I suppose knowing how to check makes that easier. I thought you could only check the time it'd go off that way.

I think the most trouble I had was... against the assassins. They kept killing what's her face in the third friggin' turn, or they'd kill Ramza. mad

I eventually used Dragoons on their asses so they'd stop using that damn 100% Stop spell.

And I always broke Gaf's equipment and rendered him harmless. xp
