Zero Omega Streamjumper Still beating us over the head with a single franchise... I come from the old school of gaming (bought a nes when they first came out with money from my own paper route, had a colecovision and several ataris before that) and appreciate a nod to the older titles here and there as well as prefer overall gameplay and storyline over pretty pictures, but I don't want to see characters from 20 years ago staring at me nearly as often as Nintendo wants me to. I remember gyroscopic controlers, I remember motion sensing controllers, I remember bizarre ultra-specialized controllers, kudos to those who enjoy them, but it seems like nintendo is hanging their hat on them. No thanks, and a lot of my generation of gamers (the target group with the most money and greatest willingness to spend it) feels the same way I do. Not all of us, but enough to warrant a second thought to what seems like a trend towards "innovation" that shamed itself some time ago. I asked this of Suyo yesterday when it comes to innovation and the way of playing the game. This is using the rumors (confirmed and not) for the Revolution: Which would you rather play, a system in which the controller is the same as the predecessors where you move around a stick and fire with little colored buttons? Or a system in which you control the controller (a la Tom Cruise Minority Report) while having the original play as a secondary option. Where you can call in certain actions (think of calling in an air-strike for Call of Duty). Where you could take a picture of the room you are in and play in there, using every item in there to attack your enemy? Ah yes, because clearly my dislike of the current direction Nintendo has shown itself to be taking (controllers specific to a small number of games, and vastly overrating simple gimmicks) means that I hate innovation. Whatever. Seriously, I stated my beliefs, and even openly cast them as being perhaps exclusive to my marketing demographic. I'm not gonna "defend" them in the face of stuff likely not coming until the generation after the oncoming systems. I would rather a solid game with great story and good gameplay than a quirky controller. So would a lot of my demographic. Since you are more interested in pointing fingers at the more conservative gamers and mouthing corporate sponsored fever dreams (remember the dreamcast claims of grandeur?), I feel no real inclination to defend why I feel more interest over Microsoft's console than one of a company that was with me when I began gaming. I'll keep buying games that interest me for my GBA (not mini or player, just GBA) and continue to support the company that has given me what I want from day one and shown no sign of leaving me high and dry yet.

Phoenix315 Streamjumper Phoenix315 Streamjumper Phoenix315 Streamjumper If they paid more attention to newer franchises I'd respect them more. All the ten million Mario titles might be great names, but I'm really getting sick of that goddamn face looking back at me from almost everything they make. I [still] want Mario RPG for the GBA/SP. neutral THAT was a good branching of that franchise. imo, that would've been a far better thing to transfer than the Mario worlds to GBA.
Super Mario RPG is/was freaking awesome.Same here. I'd love to see some of the Castlevania games re-released for the PS2... Hell, even the PS1 format would be awesome... it did well enough for SOTN. Or for the PSP. It's really too bad that Chrono Trigger got released on PS, I would've loved to have a handheld version of that game. Maybe PSP? They are mumbling about reissuing some stuff for it.

RO MEMORY STORY TIME WITH SHOUJ NOW! scream We start out with pre-wipe memories on main. Well, practically self-explanitory. We were training in Payon 2...or rather, I was tanking Loki and Shattered. And uh, the rest speaks for itself. So, we were at this wedding. Crusade people were invited. We liked sitting on the bride...well, me and Nat at least. Then Nat killed himself with GC where the bride stands. He was so special. Crusade went on an outing to Gonryun Field. Thanis froze a rice cake boy. surprised Crusade taking a castle! We only had it for about 6 minutes though. It's okay, it was a moment of fame. cool Waiting outside Payon with Nabs and Shattered. I got drunk and I was playing RO. I made that chat...and people started forming that line. whee Moving on to Sakray. Me and Phoe all shinified. Me hanging out with an incubus. Rave saying some interesting things Uh, that's it. I'll leave you with an image of me and my buddy. surprised

No, it's the fact that everybody I run into point out that Nintendo will use the same characters, in the same exact game. However, the game is not the same, it is completely different. I always hear the "Nintendo only recycles" argument, but when you look at it, other developers recycle their games as well (the new Ratchet and Clank death-match game, the Jak and Daxter racing game), the difference is that Nintendo will find new ways to play them unlike other developers. Honestly, I don't want to jump in your face about this, I'm just used hearing the same anti-Nintendo argument from almost every person on the internet and real life. So I've gotten used to not just standing idly by and listening to people rant and rave about it. Everyone wants solid game with great story and good gameplay (well, except for the number of people who care only for graphics), however mix this in with a controller that is completely different and innovative than the others and what would you get? So I talk about Nintendo's rumored ideas for their console, everyone does that for their perference. I run into a good number of people who talk about X-Box 360's new online, people who talk about Playstation 3's Cell chip, and people who talk about Nintendo's rumored ideas. It's nothing new, I just tend to lean towards Nintendo because they always seem to have something new other than something upgraded. If you guys don't mind, I'm going to create a discussion thread for E3 2005, the new systems, games, etc.

Huh. The Pom style is highly amusing. The Pony style is actually pretty cute. Most shocking of all, I actually really like the Sleek style. Shocking since I have never particularly liked any of the hairstyles. I'd have to see a bit more of it, but I may actually be tempted enough to buy a style. D:
