Keeping a lid on all the leaks has got to be a difficult task.

I saw a bit of news today saying they want to have trading between trainers out by november, battling in early 2017, and the next generation of mon out by June/July 2017

Isn't battling already in the game? That timeline makes sense for the 2nd gen, timing it w/ summer break.

Currently, the only battles that are programmed in are for specific locations referred to as gyms. They typically coincide with local landmarks. Anybody can challenge a gym, and theoretically take out all the power of that gym. Such leaves it open for taking over which only requires you to leave one monster there at full health. Such creates issues of sniping (where somebody comes in and steals an empty gym while you heal your monster), but that is another matter.
The game has yet to incorporate battles between players, or a system to trade them between players. That is coming, but not in place as of yet.

Ah, I had assumed it wasn't just gyms. Yeah, those improvements will greatly improve the system.

I suppose. To be fair, I am not really interested in some of the upgrades. Battling others does not interest me in the slightest. Also, I have few friends, so trading (while desired) is not a huge draw.

Fair enough. While I enjoy the core Pokemon games, I don't use most of their features since I pretty much play alone, so I'm in a similar boat.

Well, I am weaning myself cold turkey. For some reason, my phone kept turning off the wifi when playing Pokemon. Then, me not knowing, i go to watch youtube as I wash dishes at work . . . and eat through all my bloody data! It is infuriating. I got so mad, that the game got deleted from my phone. Now, the data is saved with Google, so if the game is reinstalled, all my stuff comes back (I think). Either way, got real tired of that crap really bloody fast.

Yeah, data plans are so restrictive that it's very easy to burn through your allotment. Nice that you can backup your save.

I'm weak . . . I redownloaded it. sweatdrop I'll just have to be more careful, is all.
On the work front, I had to go to a 'mandatory' meeting that somehow no less than three of our 9 people managed to skip. In it, several things were hashed out for us peons, including the addition of cameras all over the store. We go from nothing to 1984 Big Brother. Worse yet, the cameras are accessible at any time from a remote app on phones . . . by no less than four people, likely more. We are going to be monitored at all times by somebody, and they will call us when they see something they do not agree with. Sounds rather crappy for a less-than-minimum-wage job.

Feedback loops in games can have a powerful addictive effect. I won't go so far as to say Pokemon Go uses Skinner box mechanics, but at least a lesser from of incentivization.
Wow, that's seriously messed up. Talk about poor management decisions.

The only reasonable justification was that we have been losing money. For years. It is never a large amount, but $5 here, $20 there, all at seemingly random times. It's been going on for over three years, but the current owners (of 18 or so months) have had it. They want cameras put in 'to protect us from accusation' since nobody currently working was likely to be stealing. To me, it just sounds like a pile of crap. Our owners do not care about the store, they care about their profits. Kind of shady when they can't even promise to get out paychecks on time, or have money in the account to actually cash them on time.

Possible. Hell, today our manager had to pull out about $240 of her own money to cover the CokaCola order. We didn't make enough money today to pay her back. Shows how little we are able to pull off. Now combine that with the problems of missing money in the store and one might see how much of a disaster this is.

That starts to make sense, but it's till a terrible situation; and, how much did setting up, installing, & running those cameras cost?
