"Yes."

Thats what he just said.

"Because I summoned you."

Much to his confusion and dismay, he would be travelling with such an off creature.

"Yes, to Latent."

Thats where they would be going. Well, she did seem more human than animal, so he probably should treat her as such. First though, introductions needed to be made, as well as a way to convince the woman to follow.

"My name is Toneldren Silk. I am a magician. Come with me to Latent and..." He began digging in his backpack for some kind of bribe, since even though the summoning worked, the effects it should have did not, "I'll give you this tasty apple."

"What's your name?"

So many questions that Moose wanted to ask to get a better understanding, but before she could ask them he started to say what he wanted. She would frown, not moving from her comfortable little spot on the grass.

"Toneldren Silk," she repeated his name just after he said it. It was her way of engraving it into her memory, especially a rather difficult name like that.

She still had a perplexed look on her face as he began to dig around in his bag, but once he brought the apple out and began to bribe her she would quickly get up off the ground.

It was the forbidden fruit. It looked delicious, and she was still very hungry. She never did say she was going to him with Latent. She didn't think it needed to be verbalized since she went straight for the apple.

"Moose."

Didn't he ask this already?

"Can I have the apple now?"

"Your name is Moose?" A puzzled expression cossed the young man's face. Well, that would clear a few things up as to why she kept repeating that one word.

She was advancing, eyes intent on the fruit in his hand, and as she drew near and asked for it, he flicked his wrist, the apple suddenly disappearing. Didnt he just say so, he was a magician, and like magic, he made it disappear. Actually, it was more of a sleight of hand trick than any real magic.

"Latent first, apple later." Toneldren did say that he'd give her the apple when they made it to town. He just had to re-assert himself. It was like dealing with a child.

"Yes. You can call me Moose."

He could treat her like she was human, but she really didn't have what would be a normal human behavior. She didn't even understand them. Just like now, why was he so confused by her name? Was it that difficult to learn?

Her right hoof for a hand came up to try and push her white tendrils out of her red eyes, but not having fingers was an effort to just do that. It wasn't like she could tuck her hair behind an ear to get it out of the way.

After a moment, she would give him a flustered look. Hair still in her face and she had no apple to munch on, but she would follow him anyway. Why? She had no idea. Maybe there was some sort of compelling force that was driving her along with the man.

"What aid do you seek?"

She should probably know, since the only thing she was sure she was capable of was chewing up leafy greens or ram someone with her hooves or antlers.

"I just thought it'd be dangerous to be travelling by myself out in the open. Would be horrible if a giant eagle decided snatch me up and feed me to her young, or if a group of bandits suddenly decided to rob me of everything I own and --"

Was he babbling on? He was babbling on. He probably shouldnt do that so often.

"Anyway," he got back to the point, after cutting himself off midway through thinking, "I just need you to travel with me, take care of danger and all that. So, then let us be off."

He began his stroll through the plains again, with a somewhat secure peace of mind that he wouldnt be randomly attacked by some predator or a group or brigands. And if he did, at least there was someone else around to buy him some time in order for him to be able to cast some spells and protect themselves.

"I don't think a giant eagle would feast on you. They don't have a taste for humans, even if you don't smell particularly like most humans. Eagles really like their rodents. As for these bandits I don't know what this creature looks like. Are they appealing?"

Moose walked a few paces behind this mage. Her hoofed feet would hit the grounds with a soft thud.

She still wasn't sure how she could take care of danger.

"Am I being used as a mark?"

A chump…was that a better term to use? She really didn't know.

And she strolled through the plains with an insecure feeling. She wasn't sure how she could keep him out of danger from a bandit. An eagle would be nothing to her, but a bandit might be as big as a bear.

"No, why would I do that?" Wait a second... OH s**t. An albino creature in the middle of the open plains probably stuck out like a sore thumb. If Moose could see the mage's face right about now, she'd priobably get a good glimpse of his mouth set real wide with a worried look on his face.

Well, so much for his secure peace of mind.

But really, what was the chance of suddenly getting attacked out in the open? It couldnt really be as high as his paranoia predicted, can it? Hopefully not.

And on he went. Also, he made note to write this odd situation in a journal, going over the choice of words he would use in his mind before the actual writing process.

Today I was crossing through the open plains when I suddenly had a realisation dawn on me that even though nature might be quite splendid, danger may still lurk. As such, I decided that summoning an animal guardian to help me in my travels would be a grand idea. Oddly enough though, things did not seem to go as planned.

I could barely imagine it myself, but I did not summon an animal, or an ordinary animal, per se. Instead, I seemed to have summoned some kind of animorphic moose hybrid creature that understands common speech. Having convinced this creature, which calls herself Moose, to accompany me, I made my way through the gaian plains with a sense of security.

This odd occurance baffles the mind, however, ever the scholar that I am, perhaps it would do good to study the creature. One such as this creature's uniqueness may just lead to a new discovery to the world!

Hmm, so far so good. But there was still the rest of the day ahead. Perhaps there would be plenty more to write about tonight.

An easy target seemed like a good explanation to Moose. Why else would they be in the middle of the open plains for things to strike at them? His worried expression helped her little. Did this mean he was not being honest with her?

She had little choice, but to continue to follow him in this path. It could be a path to her demise for all she knew, and there wasn't a lot for her to know because this man would barely answer any of her questions. Maybe she was wording it poorly. She could try asking questions later.

While he was off in his own little word making note as to what to write in his journal Moose had stopped to gnaw on some leafy greens. It was a slow process, her chewing, that is.

The mage had gained a good ten paces when she looked up to the sky and saw an eagle. She thought it might be good that he was too busy to notice. He might think the bird to be a threat.

These humans were very odd creatures. Were they always so worried about such trivial things?

Then she would go back to eating, which consisted of a lot of chewing and grunting.

Very few people's memory was that perfect to be able to remember something they planned to write down word for word in the future just by thinking of it once. Toneldren was not one of these people, so it was not surprising at all that he'd zone out as Moose stopped to grab a bite, reciting the words over in his mind, hardly paying attention to the grunting and loud chewing noises his companion was making.

Before he'd know it, they would have crossed a good deal of the rolling plains with the city limits of Latent just in the distance, the sun's reflection over the sea created a bright silhouette against the roofs and dark weathered walls of the buildings which made up the port city.

"Oh," he broke from his silent self musings, "We're almost there."

He did pause to take a look behind him. Maybe throughout that time, the moose had wandered off and left him alone. He wasnt exactly sure anymore.

Moose wasn't far from Toneldren. She was off to the side closest to the sea. She'd never ventured off into city limits. Her red orbs flickered with interest as she stared at the sea and the city next to it. There had been great tales from creatures in the wild speaking of places like this. It had brought on many misgivings.

She had paused, deep in thought and fear of entering this palace of a place. Even as the mage spoke she didn't hear him. Her inner thoughts were going over all the horrible things said of these places.

She was about to leave her terrain and enter a foreign one. It was only normal for her to scrutinize and be overly pessimistic.

"Do you- we plan on staying long?" She asked, finally acknowledging the man's presence.

His eyes peered upward as he subconsciously moved a hand up and scratched his chin, as if he was deep in thought.

"I'll probably stay for a few days." He paused, collecting his thoughts before placing them into words for his planned out schedule, if you can call it that, "See if anyone needs help for anything, and to pick up some supplies before I go about my way on my travels."

Notice that he spoke only of his plans for himself. After they had made it to town, their deal, so to say, would be over. She only really needed to follow him until he arrived at his destination, so he didnt have a clue at all about what the woman was going to do afterwards.
PostPosted: Fri Apr 03, 2009 7:13 pm

Moose didn't even think about the fact that the deal was off once they reached town. It dawned on her then.

"Where will I go now?"

She turned her head to peer over her shoulder, looking back the way they had come. Well, after she got that apple she guessed she'd just make her way back the way they came. There was really no purpose for her being in Latent. That place looked all too strange for her.

Hopefully, she wouldn't have a problem finding her way back alone. The different scents should help her lead the way.

"Come on," suffice to say, he was starting to get impatient just standing there musing. They were so close, yet so far away. He was almost at his destination. "Let's go."

And off he went. Assuming that there were no further issues, Toneldren would stop by the town's border and go back to fishing in his pack to pull out an apple. How'd it get back in there? Didnt his sleight of hand trick put it inside his sleeve? Ah well, suppose he had some way of putting it back in there all sneaky like.

"As promised, an apple for you." The young mage held the fruit out towards his travelling companion.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 04, 2009 8:07 pm

"Such a grumpy fellow," Moose would grumble, but she would do as the mage asked. She followed behind him, never straying far.

Once they arrived at the town's border, she looked around wearily. This was not to her liking. She was not accustomed to such strange places. Her place was in the forest.

Her red orbs travelled towards the mage when he went fishing in his pack. He pulled out the apple that she swore was in his sleeve. She didn't care to understand it. The apple was all she was worried about. He had promised it to her if she followed, which she did.

"Thank you," she snatched the apple from him. The way she snatched it might have frightened him. She didn't have hands to hold it, so she reached out and chomped down on it with her teeth.

Well, at least the woman had manners enough to thank him for the apple.

"Whoa."

He wasnt exactly paying close attention, so when moose leaned in and chomped down on the apple still in his hand, he instinctively snapped his hand back as if a blade was swinging by, ready to remove some digits.

"Well, our meeting ends here. I bid you fair travels." He made a small nod of his head and hurried into town while going over his thoughts once again, adding to the log in his mind.

On the subject of Moose, she has no hands or feet with digits. Instead, her limbs seem to end in hooves. A very odd and unique discovery, I would have to admit, for I do not recal anamorphic hybrids to retain such features, but rather, normally possess more human-like appendages.
