Ruuvan

A smirk came across his face as his bow was now talking to him, or seeming to do so anyway, but this did not throw of his focus. He was able to see that the arrow diminished the aura around her sword, not to mention it fired pretty damned fast and seemed to track the target.
"I'll fire more next time." He muttered under his breath as the bow stopped talking, quickly slipping it onto his back again and drawing the swords from the ground.

Ruu could see Claire was charging up another attack, this fact made all the more obvious as the sword was levelled towards him like a gun, so he made a quickly dash to his right and tucked into a roll mid-step, avoiding the firey orb as it shot past his body, but the explosion caught him this time. The heat had gone by the time the shockwave reached him, simply making his roll go on for longer than he wanted and placing him three feet further than his original intention. There was a slight burning sensation on his back, the Kevlar heating up slightly and exagerating that fact, as he stood up and lowered his stance again, preparing for the Guardian to launch yet another attack. To further provoke her, Ruu decided to play along with her accusations.
"You were reckless, you put lives in danger." Surely pointing out the reason, most likely contradicting her own thoughts, would get her mad.

She scoffed as she re-adjusted her position in mid air. She levelled her weapon at him with one hand and retorted, "Fool! Lives are always in danger in a battle! This sentiment of yours will cost you your life!"

With that, she fired another round from ten feet in the air. The recoil was the same, but she was in mid-air, and had less command over her weapon. She flew backwards a few good feet as she was on the downward path of her jump, but rolled as her back made contact wtih the ground eight feet away. With that, she rushed toward Ruuvan again, her gemstone charging for yet another move.

Sunstrike

Sunstrike took a look up and down the empty hallway for a moment, just as Raven passed through the door that Vahn had.

There was plenty of dust here, that was a given, considering the age of the place. But there was no life. No rats, no spiders, no little desert lizards...

Then the whole place shook, waterfalls of dirt and sand tumbling down the structure outside the hallway. Sun's ears lowered in a bit of shock, something was going down out here, which meant he didn't want to stay long.

The wood of the door was warm as he followed his companions, softly closing it behind him in an unconscious need to shut off whatever his instincts were telling him was coming.

It was obvious from the offset that Ruuvan would have to make Claire burn through her rage, not to mention her power, in order to leave her open to some of his attacks and bring this fight to an end. This wouldn't happen for a long time, what with the anger inside her taking her power to new levels and most likely making it last longer, but it would happen eventually and he would utilise his opportunity.

For now, from his once again lowered stance, he had to dodge yet another fiery orb coming towards him. Ruu was more prepared this time, what with no switching of weapons, so was able to move and roll to his left in order to avoid the orb and the explosion, taking him back to the position he was at before. Now with Claire running towards him, Ruu started to conjure up some light magic should the attack be hard to avoid, but it was only a last resort as he didn't want to tire himself out with too much magic use.

And yet, at the same time he was charging, so was she.

The ruby shone brighter as yet another stream of energy was channeled through the blade, and she came within four feet of Ruuvan. Not just yet... closer. She needed to be much closer for this one. Apparently, he was faster than she had expected- now it was about time to make things interesting.

Claire grinned wildly as she felt her power sink into the Rune Stone and hold for a second time. This would be interesting, and hopefully painful.

Ruuvan wouldn't have used the term 'charging', more like putting some in the ready position for whenever he needed it, saving on time if he was in immediate danger and din't have time to bring any around.

So, with a sufficient store now in place, he could do nothing but wait with his swords in a ready position, watching her moves and waiting for his trusty electronic gizmo to give him a heads up when she did whatever it was she was going to do.

She stopped at three feet. There, that's enough.

She turned her back to Ruuvan where she stood and when she faced him again she brought her sword around with her. The gemstone flashed white as it was swung at mid-level to her opponent, and a wave of fire that was six inches high and five feet wide came streaking towards the man. Of course, with a four foot broadsword swung from three feet away, the top section of the blade was heading towards her adversary quite quickly.

If the first attack didn't hit, the second would. If neither hit, she was on her own... well, not entirely. The ruby still shone.

Ruuvan didn't like to be this close to someone who could wield fire with such a skill, not to mention at a high speed and with good accuracy, so he would plan on being quite far away from Claire at the end of his move.

Just as the blade was approaching his body, Ruu struck down heavily with his left to deflect the blade downwards and then crossed with his right to stop it from continuing its path, this left the wave of fire following after the weapon. Movement was out of the question at this time, since it was another five-foot affiliated attack, so Ruuvan used the light magic he had called. A bright white orb formed between his tow hands, which were close considering he was using both swords to stop the larger Flameberge, and fired it towards the wave. The orb erupted in a pure white light, pushing both the combatants six feet back with the force of a brutal drop kick, making it twelve feet now separating them, whilst absorbing the fire and taking it out of the equation.

Ruu, having prepared the attack and knowing what it was going to do, was able to catch himself and land relatively safely with nothing but the wind snatched from his lungs. Claire, on the other hand, would hopefully be caught off guard and make his defensive move partially aggressive to make her keep coming and keep him on the defensive until she was tired.

Claire was indeed knocked backwards for a good twelve feet. She managed to recover and roll bakwards for another three, this time gaining enough ground to make a proper charge. Which she did, whirling her blade artfully as she did so. Now, this wasn't done to show off as much as it was done to generate force.

Of course, as she reached the five foot mark, she prepared for a thrust... and lunged forward, her body blurring as she approached. The ruby flashed again, and her speed increased dramaticly, due to the fact that the air surrounding her was thinned signifigantly by the oxygen around her being ignited, thus removing a whole bunch of resistance from her movement. Not to mention causing an explosion as she took off, which further pushed her along by the force generated by such a detonation.

The problem in this move was not in the beginning, but in the end. She would have to hit the brakes, and hard... but the intention of this move was to get there as quickly as possible while attacking.

Flame-Shift Thrust

The gap was getting small and Claire was obviously planning something, seeing as no one does an old fashioned, non-powered-up charge anymore, so he was left in his slightly lowered stance as she closed the gap.

Then his left eye became active, the NightVisor system coming back around and showing the area around her, pointing out the low oxygen readings, before the whole area exploded into flames and made her speed fly upwards. Needless to say Ruuvan was going to get out of the way, what with being impaled hurting on the odd day, so he quickly shifted his weight to the right and fell into a roll to the side, allowing Claire to pass by without damaging him. Such a speed would require a lot of slowdown time, and Ruu was prepared to take advantage of that. He was already on his feet as she passed by, starting towards her as she started whatever it was she was going to do to stop.

And the attack passed him by.

Claire's eyes widened slightly as she planted her feet solidly into the ground, creating two ruts in the sand and rock as she came skidding to a halt, sparks flying from her crimson greaves as she slowed her pace. She then turned and huffed towards Ruuvan. She eneded up three feet further than she expected, hoping that her attack would carry him with along with her.

And he was coming.

She growled and lifted her weapon so that the tip was pointed towards Ruuvan's head, while her hands held it at waist level. One leg shifted forward and bent slightly while the back leg stayed where it was so that she would be able to put most of her weight on it.

She had assumed an actual stance instead of blindly rushing. Sure, she was still pissed and in a battle rage... but she was now focused. She had found her center.

The gap was getting small and Claire was obviously planning something, seeing as she wasn't moving and was obviously preparing for Ruu to do something and then proceed to kick his a**, but he was going to do it anyway.

So, once he was within the blade's strike area, he lashed out with his own two swords in an attempt to knock her blade to the side and leave her torso exposed. Once that was done he stopped his advance, straightened his left leg and thrust his right leg out in a hefty kick towards said exposed chest. If it failed to knock her off-balance, he had a plan, but if it did, he had an even better plan.

And just as soon as he began moving, so did she.

Quickly shifting her stance so that she was holding said blade at the right side of her head with the tip of the blade still pointing towards her opponent, she quickly ducked under his attack and proceeded to thrust forward towards Ruuvan's chest as he straightened his left leg. The blades passed cleanly over her head and her weapon as she moved into the attack. If he didn't move his lanky behind, Ruuvan would be run through quite handily by a 32" long, five inch wide blade.

And cleanly at that- a flamberge was meant to ease entry and exit of attacks, which means the wound of said target is deepened upon both cuts by the wave pattern on the edge of the blade.

Of course, the blade would begin dropping to the ground due to the weight, if evaded, but that was of no concern. She could easily lift this weapon time and time again, and quickly at that. Hit, miss, or interrupt, she would find a way to retreat and counter.

It made no nevermind to Ruuvan, considering he had trained to fight people and was able to adjust to most situations. So, lowering the path of his kick and twisting his body yet again, he slammed his right foot into the side of the Flameberge in order to knock it off course once again, this time putting his body further away from the weapon. Once that was done, he would change the direction of his foot and come back to Claire's torso once again, true it was with less force than initially intended, but it was still enough to knock the armoured Valkyre back and give him the 'spring board' effect needed to retreat to a safe distance, but that would only be possible if the kick did what he wanted.

Seeing the kick coming out of the corner of her eye, she let the blade drop to the ground and plant itself there. Then she immediately slammed her left shoulder towards the incoming combat boot. The attack would be nulled due to her shoulder armor, but he would still have the springboard he needed.

It wouldn't last for long though, as she recovered her weapon from the sand and ran towards him again, her weapon trailing behind her in a one-handed grip while the other was extended in front of her.
