"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!"
In a flash, this time Ryouki had climbed the tree, and was positioned near the roof of the greenhouse away from the evil arachnid of evil that threatened his existence.
"Your nuts! It's EVIL! EVIL I SAY!!"
At times like this when he forgot to think, the bloodline of the black-haired boy was extremely apparent. After all...there were probably more spiders in the tree.

Rain just cocked her head at him, giving him the strangest look. She edged closer to the tree and held up the spider. "Come on!" she urged. "Give Mr. Spidey a chance! You haven't even met him!"
Sometimes, Rain did have relapses back into that child-like state she was in but a month before, especially when it was Ryouki involved. "He won't promise! He promises! Don't you, Mr. Spidey?"
Seeing Ryouki retreat more and more, she sighed. "You can be so weird sometimes," she commented, taking the spider back to the tree he originally was found on. She walked back to the bench and picked up her guitar.
"Let's go," she said, her voice sounding a bit dull. "It's time for dinner."

(((Imma skip around cause I'm weird....)))
Sometimes, life just sucked. Unfortunately, too much white and creepy girls just made things suck more, even if said girls were sickeningly cute....
As the sun rose Ryouki found himself outside the same dull door he always stood by in the dull morning, can't be in there while Rain gets ready.
The good thing was, 7:00am marked the change in shifts at the Novak Foundation, which meant the black-haired boy had a few moments where almost the whole building was open to him. He used this time to hook up his p.d.a to the central computer as he had tried to before, but had failed horribly. Now that he had it all figured out, he spent the morning searching through the encrypted files, trying to find anything, anything that might signal she was here. It was only natural, especially considering what went on in the building.....
But that was just it. Now there was even more of a reason to find his little sister and quickly, because he'd seen what happened inside this deceptively angelic building. Alot of things Ryouki still couldn't understand, but he knew enough. Enough to realize that for all he knew, she could be a soldier by now....
If they had even laid a HAND on her, he'd kill them all....
"Hey Rain, you finished yet...?"

Rain was in the bathroom, sitting on the sink and staring at the blank wall parallel to her. She had been like this for a good ten minutes or so. A lot of times in the morning she would sit in the bathroom and just stare; not thinking anything or doing anything, just stare.
She didn't really know why she did it; her mind felt lazy and some mornings the girl just didn't feel like getting up and doing anything, just wishing to lie in bed all day.
Hearing Ryouki's call from the hallway, she shook her head a little. She hopped off the sink, exited the bathroom and entered the main room. She stopped for a brief moment to look at the flower in the vase, the only speck of color in this dull place. Sighing, she slowly walked to the door and opened it. "Yeah," she said. "I'm done."

"Geez.....fighter or not your definitely a girl. How the hell you can take so long in there is beyond me.."
Ryouki unplugged his pda from the wall and shoved it back in his pocket. No sense in having her see it; for all he knew she'd tell that Ivan guy and then there would be trouble. Shame too, he was almost ready to try the back-files from two years ago. That was around the time she disappeared....
"So, what's Mr. Hoity-toity-pants making little Rainy do today? Wash his car? Paint his house? Or maybe just destroy all existence for no apparent reason?" he stared in an annoyed fashion at the girl. "At any rate, you should be careful. I heard some talk the other day. There was something called 'Project Silence' here not too long ago, probably the same kind of project as you are to them.....And, guess what? One of the scientists mentioned that when it failed, they trashed it. Let me tell ya, these people are a bunch of sickos..."
Ryouki kicked the wall in an odd fashion. Morning always annoyed him, because he always thought clearer. Stupid really, but thinking clearly bothered him.
"You know....you should tell me if you hear anything like that. I don't want them doing something like that to you, Rain..."

((Umm.. duly noted and appreciated. razz ))
Rain tried her best to ignore him, mostly ignoring that comment about her taking a long time in the bathroom. She hated it when he talked badly about the people that worked with her, especially Ivan. You know, that whole weird drug they shot her up with that made her all loyal to him like how Anemone was towards Dewey.
As he kept up with it, she shot him an angry glance. "Shut up, Ryouki," she said, actually using his real name instead of one of those cute nicknames she always called him. "You don't know Ivan, so I don't want to hear you talking bad about him."
Turning her head away, Rain shoved past him and walked down the hallway. She had to meet Ivan for their morning run. She was running late as it was, so she skipped breakfast; she had been doing that a lot lately.

"FINE THEN! Go ahead and let him KILL you, see if I care!!" he screamed at the retreating Rain, silently hoping she didn't hear him. Still though, he had to say it. Ryouki was getting sick of this place and it's brainwashing of young girls.
Hell, she should be at a store. Riding the waves. SOMETHING. Not going out to meet some guy so he can teach her how to be a killing machine.
'Damnit to hell if I don't smash that man's face in!!' now that the girl had disappeared, he started screaming at himself inside his mind. 'The whole goddamn military is disgusting, doing this kinda stuff to refugees! If I had the chance I'd get the hell out of here....'
'But you can't, because you can't leave her here...' Ryou cursed the little voice in his head. It was annoying, witty and just unpleasant. Unfortunately, it was also always right.

Unfortunate in many ways, Rain heard that last spiteful spat of Ryouki. She halted a little when closing the door, then shut it hard. She stood in the stairwell, staring down at her feet. Something fell and dripped onto her shoe, making a little round stain. She had many reasons to cry, all of them unrelated to each other.
Wiping at her eyes, she walked down the stairs and to the gym where she was to train and exercise. It was raining in a torrent again, as always, so that meant she and Ivan had to run around the track of the gym.
Once she was in her training attaire, Rain walked out of the locker room and met up with Ivan. He noticed a change in her demeanor and confronted her about it, asking if anything was the matter. Rain shook her head and forced a smile, saying everything was fine. Ivan shrugged and they began her morning's training.

Ryouki sighed and leaned against the wall as always, slightly annoyed with everything in existence at that moment, including himself. As a matter of fact, it was probably easier to list things he liked rather than didn't like; since coming to the foundation the second list had become very, very long.
"Damn it to hell and back..." he grumbled to himself.
But still, he had an opening now. If Rain was busy, he was technically on break. That thought in mind, the black-haired wannabe bodyguard looked around, then slipped down the next hallways. Somewhere in this facility, there was a folder he wanted desperately to find. Now all he needed was to know where it was....

Rain worked and trained hard like she always did. As Ivan kept pushing her on, she kept striving to obey and please him (like it was said, that crazy-juice she got jammed into her, not exactly free-will). Rain moved from many different exercising machines: the elliptical, weight machines, weird things like the BowFlex, stairmaster, all sorts of training devices. She even thwaped away at that little hangy punching bag thing.
Rain practiced her self-defense on the giant punching bags and actual people. She had improved a lot and was able to take down most of her opponents in less than ten minutes. Her style was pretty much a style unto her own with mixes of different things like kick-boxing and other random stuff.
After her daily training regimen was over, Rain was about to leave when Ivan stopped her. Instead of having lunch in her room with Ryouki like she normally did, she was to have it with Ivan. He had something for her. Rain smiled at him and nodded. She then went into her locker room and got changed.
====
Back in the halls of the building, the nurse that took care of Rain and Ryouki's basic needs snuck up on him. "Hey, there," she said. "And just what are you doing?" After Ryouki made whatever repsonse he made, the nurse looked down at him and smirked. "I know you're looking for something," she said. "I've seen you with your PDA hooked up to the system."
Shifting her weight onto her other leg, she closed her eyes. "Don't worry, I won't rat you out. I want to help. We can't talk here, though. Come with me." She reached forward and grabbed his wrist and dragged him along the halls until they reached a door. She opened it and shoved him in, entering in after and shutting the door.
She flicked on a light to reveal a janitorial closet. "This is the only place we can speak freely. The walls have ears, you know."

(((Oh geez, and here I thought I was gonna wait.... xd )))
"I-I know....I figured they had a good monitoring system set up here...." Ryouki was still sort of on guard, after all this woman worked for the foundation. If he said something he shouldn't, there would be trouble. And there was still something he needed to know...At the same time though, this was a chance to ask someone who probably wouldn't lie, even if they knew who he was.
"I just wanted to see if I was right.....If she was here. My little sister..."

"Your sister, huh?" the nurse pondered. "Amazing. I've never met someone who was able to actually trace a relative all the way here. Then again... none of these kids have ever had family. At least... that's what we think."
The nurse closed her eyes and nodded her head a bit, shifting her weight. "It makes me gad to actually see someone so driven to find someone. Anyway... I'll help you all I can."
She leaned in close to Ryouki and glanced around, even though she knew it was safe in the closet. "Let me tell you something, it shouldn't be that hard to get into the files. The people here have gotten pretty lax about their security on them, never thinking anyone on the inside would think of trying to get in. I had a friend in the inner circle that leaked a password to me to some of their top secret files. Here it is." The nurse grabbed his arm, pushed back the sleeve, and out with a pen she wrote out the password, a jarble of letters and numbers. "You should be able to get in pretty far with that, but after a while you're going to have to hack your way in. And another thing... you might think it's easier to do this during the shift change, but that's actually when the security is highest. Do it sometime between before and after lunch."
Grabbing two buckets and a mop, she handed a bucket to Ryouki. "Might as well make them think we came in here for a reason." She said, winking at him. She opened the door and shoved him out, following after.

"Gah-!" Ryouki stumbled for a second, then righted himself and tried to act professional....or as professional as one could be with a bucket, at any rate.
'Geez, it justs keeps getting weirder around here....' he thought 'Well, at least I have a way in now. If she was here, I should be able to find out where she is now. It doesn't look like she's with the rest of the girls here...'
He remember awhile ago when he'd heard the scientists talking. Besides this 'Project Destiny' they kept under wraps around Rain, those men had also spoken often of a "Project Anemone" that was off in another facility at the moment. It was possible that she was with that one, especially considering that the girl has vanished around the time the scientists said Project Anemone was completed. Or, she could be somewhere completely different...
'Well, at least I'm one step closer...' Ryouki glanced at the nurse-lady.
"Do I....really want to know what these buckets are for...?"

The nurse put a hand on her hip and gave him the weirdest look. "Really, what goes on in young boys' minds these days?" she questioned, then shook her head. "Nothing, really," she said. "Only to make the others who might have seen us go in or come out think we were in the closet to get cleaning supplies." She started to walk down the hall. "Don't dally, lackey!" she joked. "We have to clean the bathroom!"
Rain and Ivan sat in garden Rain adored so much at that bench in front of the waterfall. Ivan hadn't eaten much of a lunch, just a sandwhich and some piece of fruit. The girl, however, practically had a feast spread before her. With the training she did and the output she put into it, she need to sustain her energy levels. Ivan would glance down at her every now and then, the look at other things. Once Rain had finally finished, she smiled up at him.
"Well... took you long enough," Ivan said lightly. "Here, this is for you." He took a little handheld device and handed it to her. It was like a small video game, which it pretty much was. What he intended Rain to really use it for was reflex training. He explained the game to her and how it worked, then left her to figure out the rest on her own, giving her the rest of the afternoon to do whatever she wanted.

The girl’s attitude had changed after she met the true Eden. What had once been a darling toy in her mind had grown to be a purpose, a goal. It wasn't until the seventh week, however, that Ivan learned of the gene altering that had gone into her. During their morning gym workout he had been in a foul mood. The weather in Warusawa was always miserable and their morning run had been interrupted by a torrent of wind and slashing showers. Soaked and irritable, he had snapped at her. "Don't slack off, Rain!" he remembered saying. "I want you to push yourself. Break that machine if you have to but show me something! Stop being so calm!"
To his amazement she had done just that. The weight machine had been a regular device to work the upper body and at his command Rain had ripped the steel frame of the machine in half and thrown it across the room. The words that flowed from her afterwards were just as surprising. She wanted Eden, and she would do whatever it took to have the LFO. He suspected a connection was there, one that he did not understand but that surpassed the focus device of the small toy.
After learning of her true strength the training had changed. Instead of simple physical exercises he had started her on hand to hand fighting and encouraged her to use her newfound muscle. At the same time he took her to the firing range for the first time. She had not liked guns at first and it had taken a direct order to make her shoot at a simple target. In fact it had taken direct orders for every bullet and she had not wanted to reload the weapon. Making her fire a gun was like pulling teeth. Rain took to hand to hand fighting quickly. She absorbed moves and learned to read her opponents with ease. Her shooting ability however, was slow. Twice he had cussed her and nearly struck her over the stubbornness she displayed.
In the realm that revolved more around Rain's personal life, her life outside of training, it wasn't going so well. She was now away from her "luxury suite" more than ever so she only got to see her "buddy" and roommate Ryouki at meals. Actually, it was more like one meal: dinner. In the mornings she would typically lock herself in the bathroom, doing things only God would know, and she wouldn't come out until it was time for her training.
I guess you could say a rift was forming between the two. Aside from barely seeing each other during the day, they didn't speak much when they were together. If one of them tried to speak, the other would ignore. They could barely find common ground on most issues, especially the issue of Ivan and his true intentions for Rain. Ryouki would tell her vehemently that he was only going to use her as a tool but Rain would argue, saying it wasn't true and that he didn't know Ivan at all. It was unfair for him to judge him like that.
Each being sick and tired of all this fighting, they would sit in silence, feeling the tension rise up in whatever place they were in together. Ryouki probably didn't know that it hurt Rain on the inside. He was her only friend and companion in this place and she didn't like being on bad terms, but it seemed to her it would most likely get worse between them and not better.
By the end of the month, the two barely even acknowledged the presence of the other, at least from what the other one could tell.
Walking into the main room of their little suite in the building (they were moved from the original single room with a bathroom to something more accomodating), Rain walked right past Ryouki and into the bathroom, hogging it again like she did every morning.
