Yeah you should mop up the opposition at 500 points with that list.

I like the list but I think you're a little too varied here. Against armies with a lot of troops for a few things (IG, nids, orks) you don't have enough fire power, and what if they bring a lot of heavy weapons? IG have a nasty habit of lascannons in ugly places. I would try adding more troops and backong away from the stealth suits, they're more tactical then hard fighters (Just my opinion)

No, the stealth suits are a definate plus. Their weapons and abilities in such a small game would be perfect. So to me they seem good.. I might personally add another Fire warrior squad, but I jus love the guns. lol.

Here's a question that I'm sure has been asked before: do you prefer Mont'ka or Kauyon? I know that some people don't bother with those two, but I like fighting with a strategy in character with my army. I'm a Mont'ka lover myself, unless I'm facing overwhelming odds or a deepstrike-heavy army.

I am a tau player, but my only main strategy is to strategically place my weapons where they will do teh most damage and shoot like hell. I also noticed from my brother that teh battlesuits could get targeted and wiped out by tank busting weapons (krak missiles and lascannons), which is why my broadsides and crisis suits have a shiled generator. if u ask me, it's better to have something to save with than nothing at all against such hellishly strong weapons. Also, I tend to keep my kroot in cover until they can assult something, provided i use them at all. oh, btw, i beat my bro hands down with my tau against his marines, and we both normally use 3000 point armies against each other. Pity his fortress tank always gets wiped out quickly, jsut a turn or two in firing range of rail guns.

Seraphine, You're right when it comes to Kauyon: anybody worth his salt will see what you're trying to do and won't bite. But Mont'ka relies on your own initiative, not his incompetance. Role up to his flank with two devilfish, unload firewarriors behind them, and open fire. The enemy will be to far away to run around your fish an assult, and assulting skimmers just isn't a good idea. For extra fun, bring along a drone squadron or battlesuit team to jump over the fish and back again, or provide long range support with railgun submunitions. If there isn't a weak spot on the enemy line, you can use devilfish for drivebys and as mobile sheilds for your suits and drones.
That being said, there are more efficient ways to fight out there. It's just more fun to get into the army's mindset and fight in character. Mont'ka allows you to do that and still put up a respectable fight.
So, Seraphine, if you don't like the traditional methods, what kind of tactic do you usualy use?

Reddemon hey what is the point cost & the stats for a Rail gun? On a Hammerhead, 50 points. Solid shot: range 72", Str 10, AP 1. Submunition: range 72", str 6, AP 4, template. Both are heavy 1. On a broadside, they are free and twin- linked but can't use submuntions. That's right, 6 foot range.

You were right Seraphine, i fought some plague marines and got beat down..... damn 3+ saves.... anyway, re-vised to take out some heavier targets and correct some......things that are quire redundant, like a twin linked on a unit with BS5... haha.... any way, new list of greatness.
500 point army 16 Shas' la Firewarriors in two teams of 8, bonded (180 pts) 1 Shas' O XV8 Crisis suit with fusion blaster and Plasma rifle, shield gen, hard wired multi tracker (133 pts) 1 Shas' vre XV88 Broadside battle suit w/ multi tracker (85 pts) 3 Shas' ui XV15 Stealth suits, bonded (160 pts)
That whould work alittle better..... 2 less stealth suits and 6 more fire warriors, good trade in my opinion, i need a good line of defence. and bonded units are quite useful.....
@DaemonSpawn- your leader is only 157 points..... 75 for shas'o + 14 for missile + 16 for plasma rifle + 20 for shields + 10 for hard wired multi tracker + 2 for a hard wired drone controller + 20 for two gun drones = 157, you have some more points to use.

Due to the COMMON COWARDICE of many of my enemies, my main tactic is what I call a Filterflow: I keep close to all cover and terrain with my units, while steadily moving forwards, circling my devilfish behind the enemy to fire and draw enemy shots, while also firing out huge barages of gunfire from my other units. I usually end up using my commander and his bodyguard like a deathsquad. They've NEVER DIED!
