Jack clutched the comforter to his chest. "Don't wanna get you sick, angel. Your heart." He clamped his hand to his mouth as he started coughing again. How could something so common and simple as the flu make you feel as if you were dying? He didn't like the idea of having to stay in bed to begin with, unless it was to cuddle with Rei and make love to him. Right now he didn't feel up for either.

"Don't worry about it, love." There was more rummaging. "They have me on stronger medication now, so it shouldn't be as bad anymore." He pulled out a few bottles, kicked the drawers shut, then made his way back to the bed. He set the bottles on the nightstand, opening one that was cough syrup. Very good cough syrup. He filled the cap and gave it to him to drink. "If anything, I'll just get the damned operation and fix it for good, for awhile."

Jack lifted his head up to drink down the cough syrup, making a bit of a face as he swallowed. "But I'm s'posed to take care'f you. I can't even stand up."

"But see, when you can't do that, then it's my turn." He kissed his love softly, then grabbed a couple of painkillers and a glass of water. He held them out to Jack. "I take care of you, too."

Jack dutifully popped the pills in his mouth and swallowed them as well before falling back against the pillow. "It's just the flu. I should go to practice."

"No, you need to rest. And everyone understands that." He told him as he downed the rest of the water himself, before setting the glass and bottle back ontot he night stand. He laid his hand on Jack's forhead, testing his tempature. "That's why we all agreed practice would be cancelled, at least for today."

Jack sighed, closing his eyes at the soft cool touch of Rei's hand. "Guess we can skip one practice. Don't wanna work anyone too hard." He was still hot, but the pain meds would help break the fever as soon as they had a chance to get into his system.

"Heh. More like we don't want to overwork you right now, babe." He chuckled softly and brought his hand away. He walked off into the bathroom, disappearing for a few moments. Then, he walked back out with a barely wet, but satisfactory damp cloth and set it across Jack's brow.

Jack actually blushed, not used to being tended to and not sure how to behave under these circumstances. "I was going to make you island burgers for dinner. I don't think I can cook tonight, angel."

"Already took care of it. Ordered salad just a little while ago, and some burgers from that really snappy resturant from just down the street." He smiled and sat on the bed next to Jack. "I have everything taken care of, babe. You just concentrate on getting better. That's all that matters to me right now."

"Probably what I would do without you." He chuckled and combed his fingers through his hair. "Which we know would probably be me doing nothing at all."

"I think I'd die without you." Jack closed his eyes sleepily, the cough medicine starting to take effect. "Feel like I'm gonna die."

"Mmm, you're not going to die, Jack." He laned down and softly pressed a kiss to the older man's forhead. "Not unless you take me with you."
