((*slides in* sorry! I've been having writers block/piles of homework that reach the ceiling crying Im still in a slump on writing, but I'll try my best!))

Christine's eyes softened as she sat at her childhood love's feet. Of course she loved him, and it saddened her to see that him in this state, but...she loved Erik as well. Raoul was there during the hard times when she was growing up with her father, and Erik was there now, comforting her and showing his affection twards her. She often wondered if Raoul really did love her. Why he hadn't spoken to her, and when he finally did, threw into a jealous rage and yelled at her. He hadn't shown any kind of affection to her so far, so she really had nothing to go off of that he loved her except the fact that he had told her so when they were young. That was so long ago, feelings change, Christine thought that Raoul had forgotten about her or was ignoring her...that he didn't love her anymore. She answered his question softly, near a whisper, keeping her voice calm and near comforting.

"Raoul...there will always be a place in my heart for the little boy who saved my scaf from the sea so long ago."

((For those who dont know....I dont remember if they explained that in the movie...but Raoul met Christine when he was walking with his maid (I think it was his maid, or nurse or something) and Christine was walking nearby with her father, when a wind picked up and blew her scarf away into the sea. Raoul jumped into the water and saved her scarf for her, and they were childhood sweethearts since. At least thats what I remember.))

((I'm pretty sure thats how it went too.))

Raoul smiled inside at the memory Christine's words brought up. He remembered beign scolded by his nurse for getting his clothes all wet, and Christine's beautiful smile as she thanked him, and the perfectly lovely time they had afterwards.
True, he hadn't seen her in years, but she had seemed genuinely happy to see him again. Her eyes had lit up, like they used to, and she had smiled and laughed with him, as if nothing had changed over the years...
"Is that all I am to you, Christine?" He asked sadly. "That boy who got your scarf out of the sea when you were a child?" He waited a moment; silence. Still speaking softly, he continued, "So what exactly is it that you feel for me? Gratitude?"
PostPosted: Tue Oct 25, 2005 10:18 pm

"Raoul, I...." Christine sighed after trying to speak. She was completely lost for words. What did she feel for him? Of course she was grateful. All those memories from when she was a child flooded back into her mind. Her and him, sitting on a hill top, looking out on the swishing grass below as they imagined they saw pixies. Or rather, Christine "saw" the pixies. She was slightly near sighted, but she could always see them, while Raoul would have trouble. And later, when they were at Christine's home, she would tell him of all the stories her father told her, about the Angel of Music....but she pushed her angel out of her mind for now. She was focused on Raoul now. That feeling she felt not very long ago when she had first heard his voice in the main hall after she had woken up and went to see where everyone was, when she turned the corner and saw him standing there, bickering with Carlotta yes, but there all the same flooded back into her mind and body. That fluttering of the heart, the weakness in the knees. Its a good thing she was sitting down, otherwise she might have fallen over. She looked deeply into his eyes before she continued.

"Raoul....of course I feel gratitude. You were always such a good friend to me when we were younger. You comforted me when I was sad, and helped me learn to run and play like a child should. But Raoul....there is so much more now...So much feeling that I..." her cheeks flushed slightly as she said this "I can't even begin to tell you how I feel for you now. I do know, however, that it is good. Its just...I was so worried that you were angry with me, that you didn't want to talk to me. Greeting someone with a fit of anger doesn't exactly comfort confusion. But I can see you are confused as well. I do not know what I feel between you two....The Angel and you that is. But I do know....." her cheeks flushed a deeper red out of innocence and being flustered just at the sight of him sitting above her, "I do know that....That I care for you a great deal Raoul. I would even venture to say that I love you...but as I am so young, I cannot be completely sure yet...but partly sure has to count for something, right?"

Christine looked hopefully into Raoul's eyes. She was so afraid of rejection, that he was still angry at her, that he'd rather be with Meg....of course she wasn't jealous of her friend..its just...they both ran off together after Christine and Raoul faught and she had gotten the impression that Meg liked him a little bit more than she did the other men that ran about the Opera Populaire.

((And the plot thickens...Did our Erik hear what Christine has just said? Hmmm...))

"Of course, Christine," he said. "Partly sure is quite alot, considering we're both young. All the same, I know I love you, Christine, more than anything. I'm sorry I was so angry, I was just so worried about you..." He trailed off, remembering the good times they had shared as children, playing by the sea, scaring each other, begging her father for stories about the Angel of Music. How she used to see pixies which, as hard as he tried, he never quite saw but pretended to. He remembered how sad he was when he had to leave, how Philippe and his sisters had tried to cheer him up with his favorite foods at meals, new clothes, new playmates, and how none of it had worked. He had missed her all those years, missed her smile, her laugh, her vivacity. He continued, "Because you are young, and this Phantom isn't; I don't want you to be pushed into love, I want you to fall in love." Preferably with me, he thought. You're so innocent, and this 'Angel' is so...not. I'm afraid he'll take advantage of your naivete and trustfulness... But he didn't say any of that out loud, because he knew it would only upset her, and he hated seeing Christine upset.

"Oh Raoul!...."

She began. She smiled, her eyes twinkling with delight, held out her arms and sat up a little and nearly hugged him, but quickly sat back down at her childhood love's feet and folded her hands in her lap. She wasn't quite sure it was lady-like to go giving hugs, so she turned her face away and blushed slighly, as she was told often to do if she felt her face flush. Her heart pumped rapidly in her chest. Partly from being embarassed and partly because of the sudden nervousness that came over her. He did love her! He admitted it! Well...he had said it before...but Christine thought he had said it out of anger to make her feel guilty, but she knew that he ment it now! She could have melted on the spot if she wasn't trying to be proper. AND he was worried about her! She didn't want him to worry, but it just showed that he loved her all the same!

Christine's look of complete happiness made Raoul feel better. If she was so happy that he loved her, then she must love him too. But why hadn't she said it? He noticed the blush creeping along her beautiful face. Ah, she was nervous. He reached over and placed a hand on her face. She was sitting there, so beautiful, so happy, so happy with him, that he had to fight down the urge to just lean down and kiss her. Alot. But of course that wasn't proper, so he held himself still, staring into her eyes. After a brief moment, he sat down beside her and hugged her. That was alright, after all. Well, as long as it was all right with Christine. Unconsciously, he began humming a song Monsieur Daae had played for them often as children, a happy song.

*I'm sorry I haven't posted in a long time, and I wont be able to post today either. I've been -very- busy. Besides, it looks like Christine and Raoul don't need Erik right now. ^^; I'll post within the next few days or so. I'm sorry once again.*

Erik made his way down a long hallway before reaching mutiple forks that broke off in many directions. He made his way throught he labrynth with ease, going through it from memory. The Phantom pushed a stone door open just enough he could slip though and into a hallway partially decorated in wood. He quickly closed the secret doorway behind him and made his way down the corridore before stopping next to a wooden door. He wasn't sure why he stopped, but he stopped none the less. Erik found himself placing his hand on the door as well as his ear before whispering, "...A rift has been growing between us for far too long and I only hope you haven't forgotten where your loyalties lie..." Erik was pressed against Madame Giry's bedroom door. The Phantom wasn't sure why he did it, but he was sure that he'd never figure it out. Erik only stayed there momentarily before wisking off down the hallway and off to his final destination; The Stage.
