Shinigami_1890 What are the most common instrument problems that are easily fixed, and how do you fix them (i.e. a saxophones screws always come loose, so I keep little screwdrivers with me.)? What are the best notes to tune on? (more than one please, I am composing my own woodwind warm-up) The screws are always coming loose on my clarinets, too, and that's the only simple problem I can think of off the top of my head. I lost my screwdriver, so I just use my fingernail. We always tune to concert Bb (C, for clarinets) and our E. I don't remember the concert pitch for E.

Shinigami_1890 Thanks guys, what are notes you always have problems tuning. (Like Alto's have sucky C#) I think my "ickiest" note is the A played with just one front key (don't know if it has a name)... it always sounds flat, and most of the other clarinets I've talked to have the same problem. Probably our best tuning note is C (concert Bb). Congrats on your new position!

Ms.Tadakichi i have a question. my friend, who just started playing the clarinet in feb, squeaks a lot when she tries to pay notes with the octave key or notes lower than the A below middle c. she cleans her clarinet, i've told her to try loosening her embouchure and to not blow too hard into it but nothing works XD anyone know how to help her? Well I teach a girl how to play the clarinet so I may be of help. Besides her embouchure, just make sure she is completely relaxed and calm. Tell her to relax her shoulders and not to be tense. Also tell her to make sure her fingers are curved naturally and aren't leaning on the sides of the keys (Like the little bar thingies). Also, the problem I had was that my fingers are small so I never covered the holes completely. Just also make sure her fingers are covering the holes properly. Also, if she is having problems with the finger curving thing, she can twist the lower joint part (the one above the bell) a little towards her right so that her fingers won't lean on the key bar thinger so much. Hope that helps us. If it doesn't, it all just takes practice. Also for octave notes she shouldn't be loosening her embouchure, she shouldn't be tightening it a little more to also keep her in tune and give her a crisp sound. The lower you get you can allow your embouchure to be loosened a little bit so that you can get some more air in there easily.

Congrats on your new position!Yeh, most clarinets have an airy sound with A's, C#'s and Bb's, it sometimes depends on the clarinet model itself and such. I agree that our best tuning note is concert Bb or high C (Not the other high one played with register key and F key. xD )
