Our school recently had tryouts as well. We currently have 21 girls in our guard (this is the biggest guard my school has EVER had), and next year is ALLLLLLL about the guard (or so our band director tells us. But of course we don't believe him). We are so excited!!!
I'm a second year in guard, learning sabre now because i skipped rifle (i hate rifle with a PASSION because im totally horrible at it). But i love love LOVE sabre and flag (regular and swing).
We dont have a dance team or majorettes, and our band director recently took away winterguard due to drama within the guard (even though that was ONE girl TWO years ago gonk ).
We absolutely REFUSE to use any regular pole shorter than 6 ft, cheat tabs, or rifles and sabres that aren't at least 39 inches.
