So he had wanted to do more science things than be able to get to the LEGO’s. Huginn had heard there was a life hack where to De melt ice you used vinegar. So he got a spray bottle and sprayed it on the ice. It went clear but was still pretty solid and the vinegar smelled absolutely nasty. Really nasty. Huginn walked away to get a mask and then came back minutes later after the smell had disappated some. Well he had to at least get a couple LEGO’s out so he went back to get a hand hekd torch. Moments later he had two LEGO’s.

Well there wasn’t really much you could make with two LEGO’s and most of the class was over with. So he made a tiny cross. Only needed two LEGO’s for that after all. Next time he was going to just go with fire. Fire melted most everything. Maybe he could go to charm’s class and just get the ice enchanted to never melt. Would make for a cooler sculpture. He could already see the eye roll from his older siblings and his mother. He laughed at the image of a civilization finding his enchanted ice sculpture in a thousand years and what they would make of it.

So truthfully after the fail the rest of the day had been the hallowed hybrid should have been prepared. However she had let her hopes get up because the sound of the assignment had sounded fun. Only problem was the rest of the class had rushed up to gather all their materials and everything oiche tried to get was grabbed right before she got there. She could warm up water but she had wanted to try something exciting. Yeah that was an epic fail. Sitting back at her station she noticed there was a lego kind of near the top and used the heat from her hand to slowly melt the ice down long enough she could use a scalpel to carve her way to the LEGO. The victor of one LEGO.

Well it wasn’t like she could build anything with her own LEGO. So she kind of just stood it up and spent the last couple minutes in class trying to spin it or twirl it. Mmmm she kind of missed the element reports. Ah well not everything went according to plan. At least the LEGO was purple. Couldn’t go wrong with purple. Maybe she could drill a hole in it and use it as a pendant. Okay now she was being silly.

Well science class was supposed to be about learning and experimenting, and with the class all happy to be trying different things oran wanted to get into the spirit. She had once seen her brother defrost a window using alcohol, well a certain type of alcohol. So she had gathered her things and mixed into a spray bottle. However when she sprayed nothing really happened. So she sprayed and sprayed and finally got a bit of action but only three LEGO’s were freed from their icy prison. Three LEGO’s which sat there and mocked her. Well at least it gave her an idea for what to make.

Now with her sense of humor turned morbid. She used her three LEGO’s to make medieval kind that you kept prisoners in. The adult who came by didn’t find the morbid humor all that funny but her near by lab partner started cracking up. Well at least she had made someone happy. Still wasn’t as an epic of science class as she had hoped but at the end of the day she made some one laugh and she had learned something that didn’t quite work for huge blocks of ice. So it wasn’t a total waste.

Response: A huge pile of lego bricks were on her desk, drip drip dripping down on the ground. She felt sorry for the person who had to actually clean up the class afterwards. That was going to suck for sure.

She didn't have that task though. All the elf had to do was somehow get these legos out of the ice---seemed easy enough. She pushed up the sleeves of her thick sweater and made her hands into fists before slamming them down on the huge pile. If there was one thing that she knew how to do--it was act like a rock. And man, did rocks like to smash a lot of things. There were multiple things destroyed in her room because of her rock pals crashing down on all of her other things. It...seemed to work partially. A lot of the frozen legos were left unscathed. Many clattered with a tink to the ground. Only a few of the top had any amount of cracks. And her hands...well...they weren't feeling the greatest at the moment. Huffing, she decided to clamber on top of the desk and just sit on the pile. A shiver overcame her at the initial plop and she quickly pushed her sleeves down. Her pants were going to be soaked after class.

But...weirdly enough, it was able to get most of the lego pieces free.

At the warning signal of ten minutes left, Jane decided to scoot off and count the amount of hard lego pieces that she had acquired, making sure to count the few that decided to stick to her pants and practically try to burrow through. Once that was done, she made...well. A poor representation of a rock.

Response: Science was one of the many classes that Zeke tried to sleep through. The facts, the barrage of useless information that he'd never use in real life. He yawned, propping his feet up on the desk and closed his eyes. It was just going to be an average day in class.

Or so he thought. The frozen legos were brought out which, initially he didn't hear. As soon as the assignment was given to the class along with the explanation...his eyes did give a peek. Any way they could melt them, huh? One of his lips twitched up in a smirk as one of his hands went into his pocket.

He knew of just the thing...fire.

Taking out a match, Ezekiel ignited it before waving it in front of the pile of ice cubes that he was given. It...wasn't very effective. After an hour he could only get a handful of the lego bricks thawed. The rest of the ice cubes were slightly melted but.....

no dice. They were still stuck And Zeke had used nearly his whole book of matches in the process of getting them. Lame. He threw a few on the floor. At least the ones he was able to uncover he could hopefully cause others pain with.

Liv had been fully prepared for an intensive lecture today, like usual. She had her notebook out, her variety of different colored pens and highlighters set across the top of her desk in her specific order of use, and had her mind at the ready.

Which was why it was such a disappointment to find out that it wouldn't be a lecture today. Her jaw dropped at the huge pile of frozen legos. They were supposed to melt all of that?! Now...how would they?! It wasn't like they were given any tools to work with. Or a burner.

But they did have a bathroom with a blowdryer. She pulled up her sleeves and picked up two large handfuls of the cubes before excusing herself to the bathroom, melting them there. It took...a while. Longer than she anticipated. As soon as she knew it, class was over. Her lips grew thin at the sight of the remaining blocks. If only she could actually thaw the rest....

Sighing, she pooled the ones that she were able to free and placed them on the desk. Let some other kid have them, it wasn't like she had any use for it. One nightmares trash was another nightmares treasure...right?

Something like that.

Response: Jeremy stared at the block of ice full of legos. He really wanted the legos, but he wasn't sure where to begin. There was a lot of ice surrounding those 100 pieces. His first idea was to go at it with a tool of some sort. The only thing Jeremy had to try for a tool was his pen.

His pen did not stand up to the ice for very long. The tip eventually snapped instead of splitting the ice off. Sadly the chipping away only provided four legos and that was because they were close together to begin with.

Jeremy's next idea was one normally frowned upon by his dad; fire. But the idea was to melt away the ice.

The young Baphomet raised his hand and energetically waved it around. Jeremy waited for the teacher to come over and help him with the bunsen burner. The fire worked just as expected and slowly the ice melted away. Probably not as slowly as it felt like for poor Jeremy who was wiggling in his seat, anxious to get at the legos.

The bell rang and Jeremy stared at his pile of legos. Not a lot, but enough to have some fun.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Niamh took her hunk of ice, and stared at it for a long moment. There were a fair number of lego pieces inside, and she was not, initially, sure how to melt it... And then it hit her. They had bunsen burners, sinks that gave cold water, and beakers that could be put on the bunsen burner. She received permission to use the bunsen burner, and got herself a beaker full of water, a pair of tongs to hold it with, and then used the bunsen burner to get the water hot. It took longer then she had hoped, and it was kind of boring, but it was better than messing around with any of the weird chemicals her classmates might be playing with. She just patiently stood there, waiting for the water to boil, with the same expression of calmness she had when she was coaxing a reluctant familiar out of a hiding place.

Finally, the water began to vigorously bubble, and she turned off the burner, before caring the flask over to her ice, which she placed in the sink... and poured the very hot water over the block. Within moments, the area around her was filled with the sound of crackling ice and also with steam, as the hot and the cold did what they did best when they interacted. Once all of the 'fun' part of the melting was done, Niamh looked at what was left of her block. She had a pile of loose legos, and several she could pull free. She gathered them up, and returned what was left of the ice to the bucket, before she began to build with the forty five pieces she had freed. When complete, she had a tiny room, with a bed and a small 'hound curled up next to it. She beamed at her creation, and showed the teacher.

Response: When Rosalie had looked at her chunk of ice with colorful plastic bricks inside, she had a few immediate thoughts. The first was to see if she couldn't just, break the ice. As in, dropping it on the ground and seeing if it cracked. But that may cause damage to her surroundings and she didn't very much want to get in trouble with her teacher.

Her second thought was to melt it, perhaps by submerging the entire block in water. However, looking around at her fellow students, it seemed like they were all working through the outside in. So, she settled for pouring hot water over the block in various containers over the ice. Steam sizzled off the block once it hit and she watched it rise into the air. Tiny blocks fell off the ice chunk, more as she continued to do it.

Eventually, the process began to slow for whatever reason, so Rosalie went to fetch some ice. A blow torch would have worked even better, but even as a senior, Rosalie felt a negative affinity towards working with fire. Yes indeed, salt was certainly preferable. She rubbed the seasoning all over the block of ice and little by little, other pieces began to crumble out of the ice. In the end, she was able to count out eighty-three plastic bits before the class was over. There now, she liked to think she did a good job with it. Eighty-three was certainly passing, right?

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Merri was scowling something fierce, her fluffy tail puffed behind her as if she was suddenly in a cage match. The word that taunted her was the instructor's mention of the word creative. The Imp just wanted to smash the block as hard as she could repeatedly, honestly. However, while she usually liked being defiant, she did at least need to pass this class to graduate.

Having free reign of the classroom, she drifted towards the back where all sorts of tools sat. And, ah! Among the pile was a soldering iron. Maribelle wasn't sure what it was actually supposed to be used for, but plugging it in with glee, she was more than happy to use her new tool. Snapping the goggles onto her face, it wasn't long before she was starting to saw into the black with her branding tool. It melted easily and like butter. The grooves were shallow at first but with a little force, the hotter it got, the bigger the hole she bore. Water quickly pooled up on the counter.

By the end, 62 pieces had fallen out. Some were marred by the soldering tool as the heated tip had gotten a little close, but Merri felt triumphant. Not really interested in building, she continued to hammer the last few pieces against the corner of the counter as class wound down, just a few stragglers left inside the ice.

Angelo dragged his delicate hands over the block of ice. He was pondering. His classmates were working in a furry and here the mutant was, taking in all his options... he lifted his fingers, feeling the numb setting it. He gave them a wiggle, looking to them critically.

After a long moment of pause, he planted both of his hands on the block this time before starting to furiously scrub it back and forth against the tabletop. Angelo didn't know the finer points of friction, but he knew everything melted after a while when it started getting warm!

At first, he really didn't make much progress, especially as the first few leogs started coming out of the bottom. They dug and dragged against the table. He muttered softly under his breath, applying more and more pressure and - ah! The boy's block went flying, his wings opening up wide in surprise as it CRASHED against the nearest cabinet. Chunks of ice and legos spilled all over the floor, and he quickly hop-flapped his way over, trying to gather up the pieces before him. Well. It wasn't the way he intended, but he had managed to absolute obliterate the thing of ice. Many of the legos were accessible this way, the last bits of ice melting in his soft hands.

Meline yawned, tracing her finger over the ice. The blocks inside were so colorful and interesting... but she couldn't really think of any reactions to make happen. She wasn't great at paying attention in the first place, and her memory wasn't awesome either... the hybrid looked around hopefully for her twin sister, but she was nowhere around. Alas, she'd have to figure this one out on her own.

Paying attention to some of the older students for a long while, Meline slowly reached for one of the salt shakers left on the table. It was mostly empty, but she poured it over the block. It immediately made some small divets but it wasn't loads of progress, even after she pushed it reallllll in with her hands. No no, this just wouldn't work.

Struggling a bit with the weight, Meline lifted her block and hopped off her seat. She went to the hand washing sink, dropping it straight into the basin. Leaning up onto her toes, she slapped the handle for the hot water and ah - eureka! The ice quickly began to melt and one by one, she picked the prized bricks out. Humming to herself, the girl was quite happy with her performance.

Oooh, Caper was lost. So lost. He did truly enjoy Science class, but unlike most of his classmates, he really didn't have a drive to play with the plastic bricks trapped inside of the ice block... it was already starting to melt, making a watery mess too. He frowned a little. The first idea was to obviously hack at it, but they had been specifically told to do a reaction. How literal was she intending?

Sliding off of his chair, he picked up the weeping brick, holding it dumbly for a moment. After a long thought, he moved towards the back of the classroom. There they had some heat lamps used for different projects like egg hatching. Glancing back to the teacher and the number of other students using traditional means... Caper plugged in and flicked on one of the lamps. Grabbing a handful of paper towels, he lined the counter before setting the block down.

The Geist leaned against the counter, resting his chin on his arms as he watched. Any moment now he hoped for impressive results...

Any moment they would start falling out...

All of a sudden, the teacher was calling the end of class. "Huh?" he murmured in shock, looking to his block. While it had melted at most of the edges, only the corners of the bricks were really sticking out. Caper grabbed a few, giving them a small wiggle between his fingers.

One, two... six. Only six blocks came out of the ice. Caper sighed dramatically, hiding his face behind his fingers. Oh no. What kind of grade would that mean?!

Student Name: Talia
Stage: Junior

Response: Talia wasn’t too into Legos, especially since she didn’t have any real skill with building anything. After all, she was much more into reading and imagination-world-building than actually being able to use blocks to create certain shapes. Nonetheless, she would do as the teacher suggested, and decided that she would melt a chunk of the pieces, and whatever pieces she was able to free, she would let others take them.

Of course, the hardest part was figuring out how to get that chunk out first, but it turned out that she didn’t need to worry too much, as some of the other students had already taken chunks out of the ice, and she had a piece that was mostly separate from the others that she was able to chip away at with a pair of her scissors until the block was free.

She then took a glass container that was within the classroom, and put the chunk of ice into it, and put the ice into the sun so that it could melt, and eventually, while the pieces were now in a body of water, they were much more easily retrievable, and all Talia had to do was to take them out of the water.
