[[ Courtyard - Harland ]]

The small tell that Alistaire was feeling unwell set Harland's heavy brow to furrowing, and from where he was looking he suddenly lost sight of him-- Harland scanned those few paces where he'd seen him, over and over again, immobile. Suddenly he felt a hand grip his shirt, and spun to see: Alistaire, Harland's frantic eyes relaxing immediately.

A big, stupid smile spread across his face. He nodded, slowly, trying to find his voice. Everything's fine now that you're here came into his mind unbidden, and a small voice that he hadn't had to listen to in forever since Coyote's introduction to this thoughts added: No, something is very wrong. After a pause, Harland found words to express it. He was wracked with the conflicting joy of Alistaire touching his arm in public, and the fear that came with the just wrong feeling of everything that was happening. Why was it happening on the island again?

"I can't hear Coyote," he said, finally, and he leaned forward for a moment to rest his forehead on Alistaire's shoulder; just a brief gesture, because he didn't know what to do without that presence in his mind. He just wanted to hold onto Alistaire in a warm, small corner of some place far away and pretend that everything here was gone.

Thorn monsters and some rabid attacks later, they were pushed into a small pocket of survivors, and Harland thought that if it wasn't for the time he'd spend as a hunter so far this could just be a bad dream. He was trying desperately to wade through his thoughts. What did he know?? Nothing. It was as if he'd been dreaming for ages, and nothing he had in his thoughts was relevant now. Before when there had been a zombie-like attack, it was on a mission, and even lights had triggered an attack.

How could they all escape?

"Is there a plan for this kind of situation, do ye think?" Harland asked Alistaire, quietly. "An if ye'd be so kind as t' keep close, it'd do my heart a world of good," he added, his gunmetal green eyes stormy as he looked into the crowd and thought that yet again he could get dragged off into the proverbial dark.

Dorms

He supposed that was true but still wanted to see for himself. It would keep them moving and right now he felt too nervous to sit down and wait for whatever would hurt them to come crashing in.

But it didn't crash as much as it curled in, breaking windows and shattering glass from down the hallway and spilling in. It pressed against the outaide of the billing and climbed up walls to the ceiling before curling down again as it filled the dorms. Melvin moved back, sticking close to Jan and looking about.

"s**t! We can't go anywhere."

[Dorms --> Courtyard]

Oh this was too much! First, he'd had his arm broken by something he couldn't see, and now he was surrounded by thorns?! And he still couldn't be sure that thing wasn't out there somewhere!

"Lydia? Aro?" he called, having been slow to react to Lydia's warnings as the building started to shake. She dragged Aro off, and Jacob had done his best to get back to his feet while favoring his broken limb, and keeping an eye on the watcher.

Flinching back from the pointy plants, Jacob somehow managed to wriggle his way through in the direction he thought he'd seen the other two go. He kept calling out their names, hoping they'd hear and respond to him. As the minutes ticked by, he didn't hear anything, but the vines suddenly parted, and he found himself outside. His sense of relief was short lived, however, when he saw what appeared to be zombie hunters attacking a number of others.

Kimberly - Heads into Courtyard..

What a day to just be starting in a new place. Sheesh, Kimberly had barely gotten all of her stuff situated in her room before the hellish alarm started blaring away, actually cutting through the music she had playing loudly in her headphones. Chinthliss, or her new Boss as she was so proud to call himself, had just been put to rest after she had claimed him less than an hour before, and now she had to deal with this too?

"What in the name of blue blazes is this infernal racket?" She turned up the volume on her tunes to try and cut it out, but the noise kept on keening away in her mind. "s**t.. not enough noise in the world to stop that crap from ruining everything." To make matters worse, she was feeling sick. Nerves? No it felt worse that that, she wanted to throw up, but kept trying to act cool, cause nothing sucked more than....

Urk... dry heaves... maybe it was good she hadn't ate in a while.

The red lighting was kind of cool though. She smirked weakly and headed out in the hall, fighting back a series of yawns. It was too early for this kind of nonesence.

Hey Boss, you got any idea what the hell is happening here?

No answer.

Boss, you there?

Okay this was nothing like Chinthliss, he was quiet yes, but he never outright ignored her before. Heck he seemed proud to show her that he knew so much and to rub in the fact that she had a lot to learn.

Chinthliss, helloooo?

Okay, something was wrong... like... really wrong.

Nothing doing but to head down to the courtyard and see if she could find someone else that could tell her what was going on.

The courtyard was filled with Chaos... real chaos as the vines were twisted everywhere, and now there was fighting. Kimberly had no idea what to do or where to go since she had just started. This was such a bad day to have actually showed up here. Never before had she wished that everything that had happened in her past was just a dream, that she was going to wake up and everything was going to be boring as hell.

Since that didn't seem to be something that was going to happen, it looked as though she was going to have to find a way to deal with the new style and shift her life seemed to be taking.

She was coated in a thin layer of sweat, but also so cold and shaky. Even her coat... sleeveless as it was, gave nothing to her in warmth. She really just wanted to curl up somewhere and let everyone else deal with this, but that was soo not her style. She couldn't kick a** without a weapon though, and with the feeling she was going to pass out or puke it just wasn't helping her cool factor.

[DORMS]

"Seems so." Lawrence said, squinting at the thorns which had filled the dormitories and blocked the way to well.. anywhere. "At the very least they should support the building." he said, leaning to examine the thorns a little more closely. "It looks like they could be climbed through if one was content to be torn to shreds."

He was admittedly, not keen on being torn up by clambering through brambles.

"I am not particularly optimistic for a rescue effort either."

Roland is stuck in the dorms

How many tries does it take to get out your dorm room when covered in vines?

Lets find out.... a one... a two... a three...

Well it went on like this for a while as Roland slammed into his door over and over again trying to push through the thorns that had crept inside through his open window encasing and blocking his door while he had been sleeping. Thankfully he woke up with enough sense to try and get through the door.

It wasn't the vines and thorns, or the noise outside that scared him, no what was most disturbing was the silence in his mind. He never really noticed how much Sylvia sang. Humming hawing and going on with song all day long, so when the silence was there? It was deafening.

"Hey!" SOMEONE! ANYONE! Get me the hell out of here!"

[ Lex -> Courtyard]

The blaring alarms and red lights hadn't woken Lex up, for he and Ami's cottage was as far away from the rest of Deus as was safe. No, what had woke him out of his light slumber was the crashing of glass and what sounded like an Ancient's groan as they awoke from a long nap. His eyes snapped open and he threw pants on, making his way to the living room.

< Squawker. Wakey-wakey. >

Nothing.

< Regal. Come on. >

Absolute silence. No purring, no screeching, not even the presence of some royal a*****e making his headspace a throne room. Lex's heart pumped faster as he realized - he was human now. Regal was the only thing keeping him from an untimely death, and now the stupid Griffon was gone, leaving him to his demise.

The living room was wrecked by the time Lex made it in, vines and thorns, broken glass and wrecked furniture. He would have griped if, finally, he hadn't heard the alarms blaring in the distance and the shouts and screams of a couple dozen Hunters. With a grimace, he ran back to the bedroom and pulled on a shirt, his coat, and boots.

---

Hell had already broken loose by the time Lex arrived. There had been some sort of vine monster he stayed far the ******** away from, a helicopter that dropped..was that Lucky? And then there was the whole business of green eyed Hunters going berserk and attacking them.

He'd made his way inside the circle of safety, by some miracle. "Anyone care to tell me what in the Sam Hell is going on here?" Lex hissed to anyone who would listen.

GALE - STUCK IN DORMS

Somewhere inside the dorms, Gale sneezed, like someone was talking about him.

IAN - COURTYARD

He was going to kill Jack.

No, that was really it, he was going to kill Jack and then there'd be a moment of sadness and afterwards Ian would raise him from the dead and then punch him in the face for attacking him, the ridiculous, green haired beanstalk with a chip on his shoulder the size of Alaska.

Ian let out a series of creative swear words that were not usually in his vocabulary, but made it in during moments of intense frustration. Not only was Jack going berserk, but in the chaos, Ian had lost sight of Shiloh, and it was incredibly unnerving. Without Naomi's voice in his head to keep his mind occupied, everything felt very empty.

"I seriously," said Ian, to Ripley and Finn, "need a drink. And a vacation. I JUST WANT TO GET MARRIED OK."

Then, having gotten that off his chest, he exhaled a breath and smiled charmingly at them both, Ian clapping a hand on both Ripley and Finn's shoulders in turn.

"Now that the pleasantries are over," he said brightly. "Glad to see you both, it's been too long since I've had the displeasure of seeing your ugly mugs. Wanna help me figure out where my man went?"

His eyes flickered sideways. "Or throw Jack into the vines, either one."

ARORANGI - STUCK IN DORMS

Something was wrong; something was very wrong. Jake was screaming and shouting, his face pale and terrified as he scrambled along the floor, staring with wide-eyes at something that Arorangi couldn't see. He kept looking back and forth to try and squint into the shadowy hall, but all that was there were the bodies littering the floor, and the three of them, along with a few other loitering hunters.

"Jake - " he started to say, but there was a sudden, nasty crunching sound and a splash of blood, and the hunter's arm had twisted into a completely unnatural position. Arorangi gave a cry of alarm and rushed forward, grabbing him by his uninjured shoulder.

"We have to move," he said hastily, catching Lydia's frantic cries, and he all but dragged the two of them with him. They were in the stairwell, his free hand was holding Lydia, the rumbling sound was growing more intense, trembling the entire building, and then -

Arorangi stared in a stunned silence at the vines, mouth falling open.

"What...do we do now?" he asked.

CHANCE - COURTYARD

He'd crouched low as everything had started going to hell, Chance's fingers scrabbling for something to hold onto. In the chaos, he lost sight of nearly everyone - Maebe, Otto, Dawson - he thought he'd caught a glimpse of Ripley and Finn somewhere as well - and there were screams and shouts, the noise practically deafening. Everyone who was left was shunted sideways, people streaming from the vines, and the chaos still reigned on as the sounds of fighting could be heard all around them.

Chance tried not to think about the blood, and instead focused on finding someone he knew, which turned out to be not so hard. He caught a glimpse of blonde hair, a huddled figure, and crawled towards it, Chance's bruised fingers grasping at the vines.

"Otto?" he said. "Is that you?"

ALISTAIRE - COURTYARD

There as no one else that could have made Alistaire feel more at ease than seeing Harland. He didn't care that they were surrounded by people at present, people who didn't matter and who's judgmental minds were not worth a spare second. Alistaire lifted a slightly shaking hand and smoothed it lightly over Harland's hair as the latter leaned against him.

"I can't hear Grim," he said, sounding both frustrated and annoyed at this.

They didn't have much time to talk, or even talk about their mutual relief at finding one another. Everything seemed to happen all at once, and Alistaire reached for Harland's wrist and seized upon it without hesitation, unwilling to be separated from him once more. He felt dizzy and lightheaded with all that had happened, and with all that surrounded him, the nausea thick and cloying as it rose high in his throat.

Alistaire resisted the urge to throw up and swallowed hard, fingers curling tighter around Harland's wrist.

"I'm not leaving you," he said flatly, his chest feeling tight. "I fail to see the point in doing so when we're already together, and it's what we both want." Need. "What is there to be done right now? Are there things we can use to get out of this damned mess?"

Sherry wasn't responding, and it only made Mimi more uneasy. Vines were starting to creep in, and she shook Sherry harder. When the hunter said her name though, Mimi jumped, and nodded vigorously. The vines scared her. She didn't want to be here.

However, it wouldn't be as easy she thought, as the vines closed in even more around them.

Part of her wanted to give up, but Sherry-san told her not to.
No... she couldn't give up here. What would Dae say?
"H-hai!"
Mimi pushed harder.

The vines suddenly gave way, and the tiny sun hunter tumbled through.

The vines began to move around Gale as they coiled around his legs and dragged him into the courtyard.

In the courtyard they didn't slop, dragging him slowly through the chaos to the wall of vines on the other side.

GALE - COURTYARD

Surrounded by chaos, trying desperately to keep himself from getting lost and to keep Stormy near him, Gale didn't notice the vines until it was too late.

"What the - "

The rest of his sentence was cut off, tapering into a sharp yell as he toppled over, back hitting the ground, his head snapping back. Considering he'd only barely just gotten out of the infirmary with broken ribs, it sent a rush of ringing pain through him, Gale gasping for breath as he was dragged away from the others.

"STOP!" he yelled, but it was no use, and he was dangling, trying to free himself, legs trapped.

Jinhai, Gale screamed inside of his head, desperate for the dragon's reassuring voice. Jinhai, help me, answer me, wherever you are, come back, I need you -

Except there was nothing but silence.

Courtyard- Quinn

Quinn was already on the lookout for Gale anyways, given a message from Lucky to deliver to the other Death Hunter. A flash of his hair was what caught his attention, moving towards the shorter hunter. The message seemed important, so he would try and deliver it even amungst this Chaos.

"Gale!" Quinn called, Dodging another 'sleep attacker' on his way.

Only Gale was a bit pre occupied. He tried to help the othet guy out, momentarily forgetting his purpose for being there, but ended up tripping on a vine and falling on his front instead.
