As Shu's attack landed the laughing creature let out a bloodcurdling shriek of pain and surprise, taken off guard by how heavy the blow was. The others merely seemed to make her angrier. She leapt, sinking her talons into the ceiling and scuttling along till he was above the civilians and dropping down to attack them. Mercifully Ro had it covered and after a few futile swipes, she backed off to a distance once more, laughing as if the whole thing was some delightful game.
She dripped black blood onto the floor as she moved and when she struck with her claws it spattered onto anyone nearby.

ANNOUNCEMENT
Right on time the airy jingle of the PA system's introduction rang out through the darkened mall. This time there was no baby crying in the background.
"Hello shoppers!" he sung lazily, still perky but perhaps a little less manic than he had been for the last few announcements. "I see you all out there. Being nice and careful, hiding in the base camp. But you hide there too long you silly billies and the infected will gather, there are still stragglers out there in the darkness waiting for you, if you don't go to them, they will come say hello the only way they know how!"
The smile was audible in Rep's voice as he went on. "And Robert. Oh Robbie. You think I'm in no place to tell anyone to do anything, but I have done so many of these missions. So...so many. I know what's coming, I know why you should get these civilians out of here, why you should bring them to me, but all I can do is tell you your orders and mine. Badmouth me all you like, I am positive anyway, but don't say that I didn't warn you my darlings, don't say I didn't tell you!"
He laughed airily. "Well done Maebe, by the by, and Shu - I didn't think you could hit so hard - it's always the ones you least suspect isn't it?"
"Be careful of the floor." he crooned. "Be careful of the rumbles and the cracks, the infected aren't the only things which can swallow you up, they aren't the only things in this wonderful little building. But it won't come out, it won't come out."
"I'll be watching all of you."
And once again the jingle echoed through the mall.

He was only at half, but it seemed prudent to keep up shields. There were infected everywhere. He touched the tekkos together and everything was illuminated in brief, crackling lightning. It crashed down around him, winding into his sinking shield, sending tendrils of stolen fear through to strengthen it. There was a moment mid-charge than Horace almost lost his concentration - Lex's voice. Of all people, him with a child. He grunted in acknowledgement and after Jannisari's charge had faded, pulled out a small flashlight from his bag. After a moment, he slipped a hairtie off of his wrist and wound it around the light. Lex could maybe attach it to the barrel of his gun or something. "Here." Horace tossed it in Lex's direction, not willing to turn his back to the infected. His aim was alright, maybe. Or maybe Horace actually had been aiming for Lex's head. The world would never know. "I'll call CPS on you if you hit a civ, Lex." Horace was only partially teasing. He paused, dodging ugly black claws - how did those used to be fingers? "Captain, raise your hand." He glanced back to shine his light on where Captain and Bella were. "Lex, send your kiddo over there so we can keep track of 'em, ok?" The closing jingle of the PA system still rang in his ears. "Can Rep get any ******** creepier? He knows s**t he ain't telling us." Offering both Nellie and the newcomer an apologetic look, Isaac swung his weapon downward into the infected, effectively cleaving its head - but it continued to writhe on the floor as Isaac pulled his weapon free with a sick-sounding wet noise. He was growing weary, and it showed in the slow way he stumbled back, but Isaac maintained his hold over gravity and remained on his feet. "I think it is almost dead." He sounded incredibly pleased by the prospect. Sasha whirled one hooked end of her weapon around and watched as the tentacle fell. She let out a little sound of annoyance, the sound exacerbated by William's chipper tones. "Well, that was certainly poor timing. What next, then?" Bittiface i am certain the tentacle is already dead >_>

Jordan nodded to Ro. "Good plan," he said, and started circling to the side. "Spread out a little," he told Shu and Ace. "Make it a little harder for her to keep track of us." He hadn't expected it to take to the ceiling; none of them could reach her there. It was a good thing Ro had gotten a barrier up, as the giggler dropped onto the civilians. Shu let her charge loose on the creature, and was knocked flat in return; Ace sliced at it. There wasn't time to check on Shu. The creature was too agile, and it was dripping acidic blood now; they had to take it down. It lunged at him in a flurry of claws and a spatter of ichor, and he swung Ferros up into its chest, knocking it back slightly. He couldn't tell how badly they were hurting it, and he could feel Ferros's shield being scraped away, faster than they liked. His eyes flickered briefly to the ceiling when the announcements sounded. He didn't have time to spend mulling them over or even paying much attention to them, but the tone he heard - he'd think about that later. He listened with half an ear trained on the conversation going on behind him, though most of his attention was still reserved for the shambling mess that continued to come after them over and over again, no matter how many times they beat it back. Letting out a small, dissatisfied grunt, he then called back towards his own rescued (hopefully) civilian, as he heard her let out a sharp gasp. "Pay him no mind, Bella. He is only making a joke. A poor one, really, but he would not actually accidentally shoot you." He reassured, before moving forward to land another punch against the infected creatures chest. His weapon informed him that she was charged, though her voice in his head was as indignant and condescending as always. "So it is like a Fear infection, one that can corrupt our shields and effect us as well." He decided, because from what Horace said about them not being immune, and from what he'd heard over the PA announcements, and the fact that these were once people but he was able to get a Fear charge off of them, well....it just made the most sense. At Horace's last statement, Tommy barked out a laugh. "It is most odd, yes. The time I did meet him he was not nearly so chipper sounding, either." No, the Rep he'd met had seemed much more jaded, though he had not been a total d**k, either. "Okay." Noah stood as Al did, took a deep breath, and blew it out noisily. "Be careful, dumbass. I'll help with the barricades too." He dug his pocketknife out of his bag and moved to where two hunters were nailing a wooden door into place onto a sloped fence near the portal. He picked a spot where the wood looked thickest and set the point of the knife against it, closed his eyes and exhaled slowly and evenly to focus, then opened them again and began to carve Uruz, steady and careful and intent. The blade passed along the lines again, and again, and again. A faint blue glow flickered to life, strengthened a little, and steadied; present, but not intense. The creature was fast, annoyingly so, he didn't have to do anything to protect the civilians in that moment, the barrier held and shoved the giggling monster back with every blow it tried to land, this of course some how lead to the creature lurking on the ceiling above.
"I'll try to bring her down," he shouted as he broke Sylvia into her chain again, the reach wasn't the best, but it was long enough that he could spin the chain and launch her scythe in a series of lashes trying to tug the monster back to the floor where they could strike it again.
It was only a few swings and Roland found his tempo, moving in time to a song only he could hear he started to spin the scythe and chain faster turning in a circle almost as he continued to lash out throwing his whole body into every toss of the blade as it cracked and crashed against the ceiling and the beast.
"You've spilled enough blood today," he hissed as he finished his assault.Roland Stats: HP: 19/60 DMG: 12 x 2 = 24 DEF: Civilians For 10 for 2 More Turns Buff: Intermediate Moon HP Cap +10 and auto +2 Defense Rolls Charges 1/3 Barrier Used Weapon: Nimble Scythe - Double damage to speed types Gear: 5 flash lights, extras for others who might need them. Luckily, Roland made preparation in advance. She sighed in relief, but shortly needed to join Jordan and Roland in fighting. The low ceiling provided disadvantage, almost all weapons of theirs are inconvenient to wield at confined area like that while the creature were comparatively small and agile. <<******** that.> The beast expressed his annoyed mood through the hammer, the creature never forget what she did to her and scuttled over. Shu felt the fine hair at the surface on her skins all straightened up and her blood ran cold. It or she made a face that she wanted to dig her heart and all organs out, the claws reached to tear the petite girl apart. They were stopped by the hammer, the surface of it hit right onto the middle of her and sent her away from her place. Ace knew she was almost done after Shu's onslaught, but they were obstinate and needed a really strong impact to knock her down. The creature picked her among all for her ending, as she lunged for him, he smiled and swung the scythe out. "Everybody keep your head down." She swirled in the confined area, scratching down and pulling the ceiling tiles with her on her way of execution. The creature was tossed around from one set of dangerous weapons to another, screeching and protesting all the while and getting that disgusting black blood on everything. As Shu and Ace took their turns landing attacks on it, the laughter stopped, its body was disintegrating, losing whatever tenuous grip it had on the bones that it was twisted around.
She screamed, a sound that was almost deafening and left the ears of all present ringing.
And then her flesh bubbled, it hissed, it boiled.
She exploded, and the tar-like backlash burned like spitter acid.

The thing began to disintegrate as it took more damage. Its flesh began to writhe and boil as it screamed; Jordan threw his arm up instinctively as it exploded, bringing Ferros up to keep the burning ichor off his face. It spattered over the rest of him, and he could feel it eating through their shield, far too fast for comfort. The shield broke, and Ferros vanished, returning to ring form, glowing only dully with the weapon's exhaustion. Sorry, the weapon growled, angry and embarrassed. The acid etched through thinner fabric and into skin, and the pain made Jordan dizzy. "Anyone got their shield still up?" he asked. "We gotta get these people to the ice rink." Something wasn't right, the more they beat the creature down the more it started to fall apart, and not like in a normal way, it was melting skin slipping from bones bubbling like it was boiling away. His eyes went wide as the realization hit. Sylvia was still in her chain he only had a moment to whip her back into shape starting to spin the scythe as the blast of acid and screams washed over him devouring almost all of his shield.
Streaks of burning ichor still clung to his clothes and he quickly went about wiping it off what flesh it had found with his scarf, looking around he noticed Jordan down, muttering something about the rink.
"s**t... s**t s**t no no no..." It was only a few steps but it felt like they took forever to make, he was beside Jordan reaching into his pack. Bandages. Fingers fumbled slightly as he tried to wrap his arm and pull out his cell phone at the same time.Text To Rep Sporting goods store near ice rink. 3 hunters shields down. 4 civis. Need back up ASAP. He went back to his arm twisting the wrap around again and again the blue runes flaring to life and restoring a part of his shield. "Stay put. I texted Rep for back up, he'll send others from the rink."
Turning to the civilians he snaped Sylvia back into shape. "We're in bad shape, back up is on the way, stay down under those registers till I say it's clear. The others aren't dead but that monsters got them on the ropes."
He looked back at his phone and then towards the store entrance hoping the next thing he would see would be Rep and Tracey with a group of hunters.
