Kakuna hopped to the next boulder just as the zipping Geodude passed by. It didn’t even know if the Pokemon recognized that there was a somewhat fragile Pokemon in the area. ’I better be prepared.’ Kakuna focused on itself for a moment while ignoring the outside noise. It steadily began to harden its body so that if it did get hurt it wouldn’t do any major damage. There was no way that Kakuna would take any chances with such an unpredictable Pokemon.

It began to concentrate on its surrounding once more. The Geodude was just whizzing around, perhaps doing its own training. Yet this Pokemon wasn’t going to be anyone’s target practice. So, looking both ways before crossing the bare ground, the Bug-type hopped on the top of the next boulder. It had to learn to quickly balance itself on such an uneven surface. But it believed this to be the best course of action in avoiding the Geodude. The rolling Pokemon had only been rolling across the flattened ground. So far it wasn’t hopping over the rocks and boulders which meant that Kakuna had a chance in surviving this terrain.

Hopping onto a smaller rock it looked like this plan was going to work. Then again it wasn’t like this Geodude was going to be the ONLY Pokemon in this rocky terrain. Kakuna had to keep its eyes on the prize and that prize was the forest. It needed to locate the area because it was going blind up to this point. Thus when it made its way to the tallest boulder in this area. The higher it climbed the odds increased that this Pokemon would find its home turf. ’Found it!’ Just north of where it stood on the highest boulder was a forest of trees.

The sight of a familiar terrain….well it struck that Kakuna a little too close at home. It had hardly been away from the forest, well that is what it had felt when the girl looked at the scenery. It wasn’t even the Viridian Forest but it was the closest thing that would defend it from all of these strange….creatures. But the Kakuna still had to be on alert from all of these obstacles. For now the Geodude was of little concern but there were bound to be other Pokemon in the area.

Hopping down from the tallest boulder Kakuna was able to lay his eye upon, its next destination was the forest. There were still plenty of areas it would need to cross before getting there. The next place was not as exposed as the current terrain. The grass was quite high, much taller than the Kakuna or perhaps it's human trainer. It sort of reminded her of the forest in which she lived but there were absolutely no trees and the grass could do with a cut.

The one key thing that wasn’t comforting about this location was that Kakuna couldn’t even keep its eyes out for anyone! The grass made sure to swallow anyone who entered and practically made sight useless here. Unless you were a creature that could tower these insanely tall grass then you may be out of luck. So in this case the Kakuna wasn’t going to be able to avoid anyone. The only thing she could do was hop away as fast as she possibly could. Though, that in itself wasn’t desirable. But now that she had some direction as to where she was going Kakuna had to live with it.

What Kakuna could do was to keep as quiet as possible. It was just a hopper at this point which meant it only needed to concentrate where it was hopping. As long as it didn’t make any loud noises then it should be alright. Maybe it would luck out without having to meet anyone or anything in these grasses. Though, the chances were slim it was still a chance. So the Kakuna’s journey was slow and tedious.

Kakuna was very slow with its hopping. When it did hop it would make sure to look around very quickly. It sincerely didn’t want to take any chances in this area. The Bug-type had no idea what sort of creatures even resided here. There could be plenty of bird Pokemon here and the cocoon would have no idea. In fact, a bird Pokemon could be following it at this very minute! The thought wasn’t pleasant and it did want to motivate it to move faster. The thing is there was no guarantee that anything was following it and if it suddenly decided to move quickly then it WAS possible to attract unwanted attention.

Yes, it did have an dilema. The one good thing about these tall grasses was that it would be difficult for a Flying or bird Pokemon to find it. It was sort of like a defensive shield around the creature which would protect it from its predators. There was no way it was going to kick the bucket so soon when it forced here to get stronger. So another hop and another, it would continue this process unless something decided to drastically change its pace.

A thought came to it. It was going to take time to get out of this place. This area and the area before it weren’t small. They didn’t seem like the same size that Kakuna noticed while in the wild but they did have their fair share of being similar. Still what could possibly need this much space? If you asked the Kakuna then it would have definitely desired more of a forested area. At the very least it would have desired a forest every other area so it could just be at home already.

There was something about this journey to the forest that compelled the yellow creature to think. Well, it had been thinking this entire time as it had lacked a companion to talk to. Even if it did have a companion it doubted that it would speak much to it. Kakuna wasn’t so much of a conversationalist. But back to the topic at hand. The Bug-type was starting to think that all of this hopping about was its training? It wasn’t as if it could actually do much in a battle beside Harden.

Kakuna didn’t have Weedle’s Poison Sting or its String Shot. Even if Poison Sting was a weak move at least it was something that the Kakuna could have used. The String Shot could be used to tie up anyone it met. Or just shut anything up that wanted to talk to it. BUT NO! All it had was Harden for some reason. It didn’t even recalled what had happened to its previous attacks. The creature didn’t recall forgetting the moves but did something happen? What could have happened to the Kakuna for it to forget some rather key moves in protecting itself from others?

When it was living in the Viridian Forest it had never felt the need to protect itself from its predators. The shadows and the trees helped the Kakuna in hiding away from anything that threatened it. But in this new environment it didn’t have any shadows to hide under in or any trees to block its path from a predator. The lesson to be learned here was to be thankful for the land you lived on. Even if you once thought it was small….wait….did it really think that?

When Kakuna was living in the forest it couldn’t recall feeling….like it wanted more but it didn’t feel like it wanted less either. Perhaps the best thing the creature could think of to describe how it felt about its former home was that….maybe it wanted change? Much didn’t happen in the forest save for the exception of Pokemon being battled and/or caught by a human. Most Pokemon didn’t know what happened to them afterwards. There were rumors that humans took them off so that they could cook and eat them. It sounded ridiculous but it was present in the forest.

There were plenty of Pokemon who came upon the humans and challenged them. It was rare to see any of the inhabitants of the forest to beat a human’s slave. Well, yes Kakuna considered them slaves of sorts since all they did was follow the human’s orders. Even now the Pokemon was following its human’s wishes. It was honestly no better than all the other Pokemon that had been caught. At least it wasn’t going to be eaten or anything...right? Was the human trying to muscle it up before deciding to have some Kakuna for lunch?
