C.T. wasn't convinced by Esther's disapproving tone, she felt that the girl's words were in direct conflict with how she was truly feeling. But she didn't push it, since Esther was talking about vetting this new girl for Kia's sake and she wanted to be on top of this for her little sister. "I don't think we want to go that far," C.T. joked shaking her head, she was pretty sure that if screwed this up and scared the girl away that Kia would kill her. "We just have to find out if she's gay is all. As bad as that sounds." C.T. said shaking her head. "I don't think we can count any of this as normal sibling stuff.... but we aren't exactly human, so perhaps it's normal for us."

Esther shrugged. She still felt like they needed to check this girl out first, and she planned on asking some pretty interesting questions to determine whether or not she was worth Kia's time. But at the end of the day, C.T. was the older sister, not Esther. She called the shots. Thinking about their mission, Esther remembered something she had been curious about and hadn't had the opportunity to ask. Taking C.T.'s hands, she found a slightly more secluded space on the first-floor of the house and asked, "Hey, by the way..." It sounded so casual, but she felt like the question she was about to ask was stupid, and she had no idea how to introduce it. "Are you gay?" Ugh, yeah, that sounded dumb. She was just curious. Did C.T. like girls? Or was Esther some kind of exception to C.T.'s usual interest in men--or no one.

C.T. became slightly concerned when Esther began leading her through the house until they found a noticeably empty corner of the house. She wondered if there was going to be something very important that the girl was going to tell her, something that the girl didn't want to risk the rest of their family hearing. But C.T. had no clue what it could be, or if she was ready to hear it yet. "Hey, by the way..."Hey by the way? C.T. swallowed leaning in, hanging onto every word, wondering just what Esther was going to say "Are you gay?""Huh?" C.T. asked, her jaw dropping a bit. Was that really it? "Of course I am." C.T. said with confidence, before pausing and thinking over the question again. "I've never found anyone attractive before I met you. And you are a girl. So so far I only like women, and more accurately you. So... I guess I'm gay right? I could never picture myself with a man....or a woman that isn't you.C.T. groaned, running a hand through her hair, this was so damn confusing. "How bout this, I am a Esthersexual." C.T. said the corner of her mouth raising in a grin. "That good enough for you?"

Esther had known it was a stupid question, but her conversation with Kia had made her curious. The answer was both better and more hilarious than she had expected. Esthersexual. Feigning seriousness (which took a lot of effort because she quite clearly wanted to burst into laughter), Esther sighed and shook her head. "I was afraid of this," she said. "Another one fallen victim to my beauty and charm. I'm afraid you may never find another woman attractive, Connie, and I'm sorry to have taken that away from you." She cracked a smile and closed the gap between herself and her girlfriend. "But yes, although it's at your expense, that's good enough for me." She kissed C.T., then nodded toward the kitchen. "Sorry, we can head back now. I was just curious."

"Oh were you?" C.T. asked, not worried by Esther's words since she could see that the girl was smiling, on the verge of laughter. "And who's to say I don't have you trapped in my web? Hm? The spider I and you the fly." C.T. joked, before growing a bit serious. "I really don't think I will be able to find another woman attractive either." C.T. added. "Though that won't be a problem will it?" C.T. asked. and Esther seemed to answer her question by giving her a kiss. "Mmmm." C.T. sounded, though that sound of pleasure quickly died down when Esther mentioned going into the kitchen. "Yea sure, let's head back."

C.T. was probably right, Esther thought. Esther was the one "trappped" here, unable to escape, but if that was the case then she would gladly remain bound to C.T. forever. Walking back over to the kitchen, Esther found Katja and Kia talking.
"--is that okay?"
Katja shrugged. "Sure, if you want to have your friend over, we would be glad for her to join us at dinner."
Kia grinned, then, realizing C.T. and Esther were back, turned to her older sister. "She's coming over tomorrow. It's all set."
The two youngest Tereshchenko children walked into the kitchen from outside, both smiling and a little out of breath from wrestling with their father. The girl walked over to C.T. and tugged on her arm. "Will you play hide and seek with us?"

"Great." C.T. said with a smile, though it didn't take much detective work to see that she really meant the exact opposite of her words. Kia gave her a look and C.T. just showed her teeth, widening her smile a bit and feigning a bit of innocence that probably wouldn't stick. She was glad for the distraction in the form of Leisha pulling at her, trying to get her attention so that they could play a game together. Hide and seek. C.T. had never played it, but she could guess the objective just from the name alone. Heh. Why not? She could play a game with her younger siblings to pass the time a bit. "Ok." C.T. said, taking Leisha's hand and allowing herself to be lead outside.

Esther was going to opt out of the game, but Leon grabbed her arm before she had the chance to back away. Oh well. Following him outside, Esther watched as an excited Leisha let go of C.T. and started giving instructions. "Close your eyes and count to twenty," she said. "No peeking! It's not fair if you cheat."
She waited until C.T. did as she was told, then darted off into the trees. A quick little climber, she scaled one of the more heavily-branched trunks and hid in the leaves. Leon, meanwhile, wiggled under some of the bulkier outdoor furniture. Esther had already given up; she was a decent hider, but it seemed unfair to her that her competitors were half her size. She snuck into the propped-open shed and tried to wedge herself between some forgotten furniture. Dust and cobwebs. Awesome.

Count to twenty? Ok easy enough, as was closing her eyes, C.T. did as she was told, facing the tree that Leisha had lead her too so that she couldn't be accused of cheating, as she began to count aloud, in Russian just to add a little familiarity for the twins " ноль" she started loudly and she could hear Leisha quickly scramble away realizing that she was caught out of position now that she had stuck around to help explain the rules to C.T. Connie found herself smiling at that, she would give the girl a bit of a break and count slightly slower just for her, though something told her that the extra handicap wouldn't be needed, because as she reached twenty. "двадцать" and turned around she realized that she had no idea of the layout of the backyard. Though she felt that all she would need in order to find her younger siblings and girlfriend was a bit of deductive reasoning. There was an old used couch in the yard, near a shed. The couch was worn, but still looked good to sit on, but what caught her eye was how tall the couch stood, definitely a prime place for some one to hide, and a peek underneath the couch was all that it took to reveal Leon. "Awwww" he sounded cutely after being caught, he crawled out from under the couch and stood before her. "How did you find me?" he asked, C.T. smiled, noting that these were the first words that he had ever spoken to her. "I got lucky, but I don't think I'll be so lucky in finding the others." C.T. said, looking around the yard. "Wanna work together?" Leon suggested, and C.T. looked at him with a raised brow. "Is that allowed?" C.T. asked, not too sure of the rules. Leon for his part just shrugged, and C.T. grinned at him. "Ok, let's do it."The two of them devised a plan to find the others. Leon deciding to check the areas where his sister usually hid, if he spotted her he would yell, and Connie was just going to check the shed near the couch, since Leon himself was a little too afraid to go in there by himself. Of course he didn't say that too her, but she could figure that out about him just by looking at him. She'd probably be afraid to enter this shed as well, it was dark, cramp and muggy. Perfect place for a monster to hide, or for a human to hide while playing hide and seek. She could only assume that Leisha would be just as afraid of this space as Leon, so she assumed if anyone would hide in here. It would be Esther. "Estherrrrrrr." C.T. called out, tauntingly, looking behind some shelves, looking for her hiding lady. "Where are you Esther?"

Oh ********. C.T. was in the shed, and, worse than that, she already knew that Esther was hiding in it. C.T. was approaching where Esther had tucked herself away, and Esther, determined to not get caught, looked quickly around for a place to go. She was wedged between the wall and a mountain of various pieces of furniture, including lawn chairs, a mirror, and some lanterns, and there was a little room left to scoot back into. But would C.T. spot her movements? Or maybe Esther--being Esther--would bump into something and create a large crash. But her options were limited, and the closer C.T. got, the more Esther began to panic. She backed up slowly, carefully, hoping to tuck herself further back into the tight alleyway. Back, back, back.
Esther wanted to hide--this was the central thought on her mind. She wanted to get away in order to win. Eventually, though, she knew she would run out of space, and C.T. would find her, and she was waiting for the moment when her shoulder (since she was moving sideways-ish) hit the tall mirror at the end of the narrow gap.
But it never happened.
Instead, suddenly things got a lot darker, the ground beneath her feet got a lot smoother, and the view in front of her was framed, as if she was looking at a picture. And everything was quiet. Still. Cool. Esther stopped and frowned as she paused mid-step. Looking around, she realized she wasn't in the shed anymore. She was somewhere else, where there were no walls or ceilings, and the floor was reflective and rippled like the surface of a disturbed lake. She was in the place from her dream, which maybe really hadn't been a dream. She could see the shed clearly, though only as much as the mirror reflected, and she didn't know it, but she was visible, too.

C.T. heard the tell-tale sounds of human presence towards her right, first starting off with some rustling of moving feet and scraping fabric, until she heard a loud crash. "Well that just makes it easy for me." C.T. thought with a bit of a grin as she honed in on the area which the noises came, moving around the dusty furniture trying not to get covered with dirt and cobwebs as she moved through the shed. However when she reached a dead end where she knew that Esther should be waiting to be caught she found herself alone, and confused. No way her ears had tricked her. She had indeed heard Esther moving about back here. But where was she? C.T. didn't even bother looking around really, she was in a narrow passage, it wasn't like the girl could have ducked to the side or something, and this place was dusty as hell she doubted seriously that Esther would get covered in filth to avoid being caught in a game of hide and seek. "Esther?" C.T. called now unsure if the noises she heard had in fact been Esther or just the wind. She was going to turn and leave, when a flash of movement caught her eye. It was a mirror she hadn't quite seen before and she was simply gonna cast off the movement she seen as her own reflection until she realized that the image in the mirror had dirty blonde hair, and C.T. was pretty damned sure she didn't have blonde hair. "Esther!" C.T. shouted a bit in a panic now as she realized that she was starring at her girlfriend, somehow encased in the glass of this mirror. C.T. gripped at the edges of the mirror now, she had heard something crash before, and she was afraid of this mirror somehow falling as well. If it did, and if it shattered, she didn't want to think about what would happen to Esther. Still in a bit of a panic, C.T. placed her hand on the glass, and felt the resistance she knew should be there, but it didn't explain how Esther had gotten in there. "E-esther?" She spoke up shakily. "Can you hear me? Are you okay?" C.T. asked, her voice taking on a begging quality, she could see her face in the mirror floating before Esther's visage. C.T. looked like she was going to have a panic attack.

It was just as she remembered, except there weren't as many windows of light here. Just one. Dim glints in the foggy distance suggesed that there were more, but as Esther stepped away from the portal through which she had come, C.T. found the mirror. C.T. looked concerned and confused. Esther herself was anxious, and her body began to tremble slightly at the reminder that she was apparently separated from the world C.T. inhabited and didn't know how. Yet she felt somehow safe here at the same time.
Esther approached the window and pressed her hand against its surface, eyes glued to C.T.'s in an attempt to calm her down. C.T. was speaking, but Esther couldn't hear a word of it. "It's okay, baby," she said, although she had a feeling C.T. wouldn't be able to hear. "I'm okay." Esther was doing her best to remain calm, to not panic.
Wanting to return to C.T., Esther pushed against the window, expecting to fall through, but nothing happened. Frowning, she tried again, tried pressing different places on the window--the corners, the edges, the middle--but to no avail. Shaking as the fear began to set in, Esther drew in a deep breath and let it out slowly, stepping away from the mirror. Okay, think. What had she done to get here? Nothing, really. She hadn't done anything except walk backwards. But maybe that was it. Maybe she just needed to relax, to not think about it. Focusing on breathing steadily and releasing the growing tension in her muscles, Esther closed her eyes and walked toward the window. When she didn't meet any kind of resistance, she opened her eyes again--and just in time to catch herself from falling right into C.T.
She caught herself at the last minute, but ended up grabbing onto C.T.'s upper arms for support. Esther was breathing heavily, too, though whether because of the mental rollercoaster she was currently riding or the amount of effort she had just expended without knowing, she wasn't sure. She looked at C.T., eyes widened a little in shock. "I-I... I think I know what my power is."

C.T. couldn't hear her but Esther was speaking and that put her at eat just a bit, maybe that meant that Esther could hear her? Maybe. But at least if she was talking, that meant she wasn't in bad shape, she looked okay, just from what C.T. could see. That was good, C.T. took deep calming breaths trying to steady herself, she couldn't help Esther if she was falling apart at the ends. She just had to relax. C.T. took a cautious step back when she saw Esther pushing at the mirror trying to escape and her heart clenched a bit when she saw that despite Esther's efforts, the mirror did not allow her to exit. That is what worried her the most, Esther not being able to get out. She had no idea what she was going to do if her girlfriend were to be bound to a mirror for all eternity. She might lose her ******** mind. But she had to remind herself not to panic, to just breath, and see what happened. Esther seemed to be doing the same thing, taking deep breaths herself. Closing her eyes in almost a meditative type of way before she began walking forward again. C.T. watched with baited breath as Esther's skin began to morph through the mirror, expanding and becoming three-dimensional again as more and more of Esther began to exit from the mirror, and suddenly she was free, and falling, and C.T.l was scrambling to catch her rushing forward just in time for Esther to latch on to her. C.T. instantly wrapped her arms around Esther and squeezed her into a tight hug. Shaking her head at Esther's comment about her power. "Don't ever scare me like that again." C.T. begged. "You're not hurt are you?"

To say the hug was appreciated was probably a huge understatement. When she had had difficulty getting out, Esther had begun to panic, unable to even imagine the possibility that she would be trapped in that void and separated from C.T. for the rest of her life. Esther held onto her girlfriend, burying her face in C.T.'s neck as they both recovered from what had just happened. She shook her head in response to C.T.'s question. "I'm sorry," she sputtered, clinging onto C.T. Once she was feeling a little more stable, Esther released her girlfriend in order to look at her. "It was just like I was telling you... like when I was a child," she explained, referring to her earlier descriptions of the world behind the mirror. She glanced back at the mirror behind her, but now she only saw its reflection. How hadn't she fallen into one before now? Returning her attention to C.T., she offered a small, shaky grin. "Hide and Seek just got a million times easier for me," she joked, trying to ease C.T. anxiety.
