Momo lay still and listened, every once in a while asking a question to clarify what Hal was saying. "so attacks like that are rare," he said with relief. if they left, Malcom would still be safe. When Hal finished, Momo staid quiet for a long time, he might have even dozed off, he wasn't sure. "you think we should stay, don't you?" he asked softly as he looked at Hal. "this is the best we could ever find in this world, we will be protected and safe. surrounded by people and in a community again, but a good one this time." he looked up, "it's the logical choice. staying...but why do i feel like it's impossible?" he shook his head, "i don't know, just-something keeps telling me that it's not right. it's like i feel this-sort of pull. telling me to move on, that this isn't the right place for us." he glanced at Hal, "i know that doesn't makes sense, maybe it's ahuman thing."

Momo sighed and held Hal's hand tightly, "thank you. i know it's going to be hard on you and i'll just be a pain. i just-" he looked around, "this place is nice. it really is, but-but it's not where we need to be. i don't know, it just doesn't feel right." he shook his head, maybe he'd gone insane after everything. "but Malcom will be ok here. he and the mutt will be safe. i'm glad we found them a home."

Mama had been about to check on them when she heard their little talk. tears filled her eyes when they decided they weren't going to stay. she placed a hand over her mouth and hurried away, waiting to be somewhere private before she cried. in the days she's spend taking care of Momo, standing side by side with Hal, her heart had adopted the two little strays as her own. she silently cried, brushing away tears as she sat down. it was going to hurt to say goodbye, especially when she knew she'd have no way of knowing how they were or what happened to them from now on. it would hurt, but she knew she had to let them go.

Momo thought about that. Malcom finding a girl and raising a family. he smiled a little, knowing it was a future he himself would never have, but one that he thought suited Maclom well, "yeah. i can see him as a dad...he's still to young, though." he laughed a little and shifted on the bed, "Hal?" he looked at the android and then down, "we'll be ok, right? even if we never find another human, we have each other and that's enough, right?" he smiled, "just stick with me until i die. please?"

Momo slide closer to Hal, resting against him instead of beside him. "What about you?" he asked softly, knowing that Hal would outlive him. "if-when i die, don't be alone, ok? come back here and live with Malcom and his family. i'm sure he'd be happy to see you again and you can take care of his kids and help protect everyone here." then he'd know that Hal would never be alone. with this many people, how could he be. "maybe Malcom will have a kid that needs you just as much as i did and you'll come to forget all about me while taking care of him." he smiled at that, actually liking that Hal would forget and not mourn him. then again, how much could an android mourn?

Momo blushed, but secretly he felt relieved. Hal would never forget him, which meant Hal wouldn't be alone. he'd have his memories, at least. "fine, but coming to live here is an order. you don't have to stay forever, just until you are ok with my being gone." the pain in Hal's eyes when he was talking about deleting memories of Momo was real, so it would probably take a while for him to be ok with his death as well. he slipped in closer and closed his eyes, "tomorrow i want you to bring me stuff that needs to be repaired. even in bed, with one arm i can do that sort of thing. i want to pay them back for everything they have done for us." he yawned, "and we need to go and get our packs sometime too." he wondered about his tool kit and realized it was probably lost in the wreckage of that hellish building. it depressed him to loose his tools, but he could find something to replace them or use instead...probably.

Momo nodded, "we need to get them back. they are all we have, after all, and we just got new ones!" he sighed heavily, "don't want to have to go back and try to find new ones. i bet that they would go with you if you explained what you were getting. or you could wait until i get better and we can get them ourselves." he closed his eyes, "how is the food in your storage? do we have anything that needs to be eaten soon? or will it be ok for now? oh-we need to find you coolant too-" Momo fell asleep mid-thought. too tired to keep talking.

A couple weeks past as Momo's body slowly healed from his injuries. he'd still bear scars across his torso and the tops of his thighs, an ugly reminder of what had happened. he was able to walk without trouble now and had moved from the medical ward to a room he shared with Hal. as time passed, he became more and more restless. he took to wandering around the complex, only to be found and chewed out by Hal about resting. he was wandering around one of the ope fields now, clouds blocking out the sun and making it a fake twilight.
