His grief nearly overwhelms him to the point that he can't move forward and do anything else. But he takes a hard step forward and trudges his way through the trials.
He seems to be getting over the fear slowly. That is until faces start appearing in the fog. Once again the fear rose up in the pits of his stomach. And he's frozen. There's barely another step he can take.
Until the enemy approaches him. Then anguish pulls up at him. His brows furrow in contemplation, wondering what he should to get rid of this crippling feeling.
So he runs at the enemy and tries to beat it down.

One more, she told herself. One more shot...
Her determination proved to be an asset, and the Fortunate One launched forward, burying the Spike deep into the chest cavity of her opponent. She gave a loud woop in victory, her bloody arms lifting over her head in a proud double fist pump, and then she dropped them, wiping her hands off on herself as she continued on to the next step.
She really was Fortune's Favourite.

Her opponent vanished as did their audience, leaving Marati alone once again. She was mostly okay with this, as a lot of her journey so far had been alone, but alas. There was enough interaction in battles to keep her going from one spot to the next.
Before she could ponder over it, the fog burst forth, enveloping her in its twisted embrace. She fought against it, struggled even, but everything fell short as a pair of hands reached out from the depths to wrap around her throat...
