As Harrison came back from dumping the wires, the landscape shifted.

He looked suspiciously at the sky and sands. In front of the Horsemen, a skulled figure stood in a fancyass suit, playing with a watch.

....Was that...?

Harrison had spent most of his life trying to avoid this guy. He paled. He wondered if It knew when he'd...when he'd really-

Thinking on it didn't help much.

He took a guarded seat next to Rep, Jordan, and...Al, he guessed.

"That who I think it is?" he whispered. He noticed the candy bar, echoing Rep from earlier. "...Where'd that come from."

He should have known that it was more likely to see their only remaining Horseman than it was to see the Time Keeper again. It did not prevent Invictus from frowning internally, however. Death barely ever answered questions in any sense - whether this one or Aisa (who seemed smitten with the return of the Rider) - outside of making his agenda clear. After all, the permanent rider wouldn't always have time for them. In fact, he hardly had any to begin with.

He had other things to do and something about that smugness left a burning anger - or envy perhaps - inside of Conquest's heart. Uncertainty, perhaps just as Eris herself had been stirred by.

We will lead and not be led. The word smoldered there even as Aisa turned into a kitten who had just found her favorite ball of yarn. The others were speaking their approval to follow the Rider. Yet the look on his face was very much like that of his father - steeled and cold even to the other heirs with only the barest knit of his brow.

He remained silent and gave no answer.

Leave it to Eris to be outspoken.

At first, molten amber eyes widened slightly at as the wizened figure melted away, replaced so seamlessly by a figure which likely all Horsemen could recognize. But that surprise quickly melted into rage, the already-hot air beginning to heat even more around her frame, until anyone too close might feel broiled. "Death," War's Protector spat, unadulterated loathing seeping into her tone, her teeth snapped together so tightly the muscles in her jaw were strung tight, "Of course, it would be you who set up this mind game."

It was pure insolence, and Eris knew it. No matter what blame she placed on Death's shoulders, there was no doubt in anyone's mind that he was her better; he was all their better. But War, especially it's Heir, had always had a weakness for passion, and there was little she felt more passionately about than the destruction of her clan, her home, and the death of her Lady.

"I don't trust you," she answered, her lips curled in an angry smirk, "This is all too convenient. This makes twice, doesn't it, that you have survived when the other clan leads have perished. You were conspicuously absent in the Spire, and then from the ashes of our home your assistant steps up to take power, to lead us to victory. Because you couldn't do it yourself; that would be too obvious, there would be a revolt. So your Right Hand steps up to save us from ourselves, and we, Lost as we were, welcomed this salvation. How convenient it is that when she begins to draw suspicion, her motives seemingly mad, you should step up to take her place."

She laughed. It wasn't an amused laugh, but a mirthless one, an escape for the incredulousness she felt. The rage was still there, but she had channeled it into a far more self-destructive manner.

"The Lost Clans will become a new clan of Death over my dead body."

There it was. Defiance. If Death struck her down, there would be no surprise from her. It was worth it, to feel as if she had honored her Lady's... her Clan's memory, and not let what could very well have been their assassination go unacknowledged.

Still...

"I don't trust you," Eris reiterated after a moment's pause, her smirk vanishing, "But I would trust Yours with my life." At this, she glanced over at Aisa, her eyes softening a little, for the first time regretting much of what she'd just said. She'd always been impulsive, far too outspoken for her own good. It was clear she adored Death... and why shouldn't she, he was her Leader, she would have felt the same way about her own. And she had just gone and accused him of the worst possible crime she could imagine. Offering Death's Heir a slight smile, she shifted a little to press her shoulder firmly against Invictus'.

"If you should take over Medea's mantle, I demand the Heirs be involved," she finally replied, her tone dropping to a calmer, more respectful tone.

"Sorry babe, majority wins." The desert literally popped back into existence, horsemen, Hunters, one trim elderly gentleman. The Horsemen gave Eris an impeccable smile. "No need to look so glum, I'm just the harbinger. I'll do my thing and-"

- The Horsemen simply lost their form. There was no figure but instead simply something so primal and ancient it was impossible to explain: perhaps for the Hunters the closest would be trying to grasp at Excalibur. Their ears threatened to burst, their eyes pop, their bones pliant, crushing and for a single moment perhaps many wondered if this would be reset as well.

-"You will play your part." Eris was overwhelmed entirely. It was not even a contest: it was over perhaps before the display even began as the Heir of War was crushed, with a single, mere thought, just a flicker of the Horsemen, the Ancient of Death flexing his power and proving ultimately that the entire stage was simply as it was. A stage and show with convenient puppets. He didn't need to make it dramatic but he did, the same way he didn't need Human food but did. Details, meticulous moments that made things count. "The Heirs, the Horsemen, even the Humans will be involved by choice." Each word dug into Eris until the syllables felt like tangible knives themselves, until she felt as if he grasped in his spindly hands each piece of her core and easily plucked its strings-

- "Ah dramatics, I seemed to have gotten a little ahead of myself." And then it was normal again. And then they could breathe again. Sitting next to a discarded computer was once again a simple looking, hollow excuse of a man. "Well here, as a consolation, I'll show you a trick, I picked this up at a party," He pulled out a party balloon from one pocket, fiddling with it, "I think it's twist this part here, tuck it there-"

- Pop-

- "Well to be fair, it wasn't a very good party," He concluded. Click. "I'd say we have a little more time. Just waiting for someone to get back, you see. I offered her a ride in my Sedan, but she said she'd rather take the scenic route, so," The Horsemen shrugged, "Everyone gets one. Question or wish. What will it be?"

And then, very slowly, he smiled, reminiscent of his appearance without skin, just hollow bone at Mimsy, while gesturing at the same time Aisa. "Dear Protector of Death, you are lovely as always, a noble figure. I have a small gift for you as well."

"I have a question then." It was Sam who spoke up, surprisingly confident considering the turnaround of events, the Death Hunter struggling to catch her breath. "What- whatis it?" She elaborated, "What is this thing you keep on mentioning this sort of catastrophic event? We're pretty obviously here because you want us to know and prepare about it." A pause. "Also Mark's is kind of not really here so he probably... can't really tell his friend." The Death Hunter was surprisingly bold, but perhaps she had a reason. If they were supposed to be dead, as the Horsemen had proved itself over and over, they would have already died, and maybe been reset again, repeatedly, continuously.

"I think the answer is that we, all of us, even your famous enmity the Horsemen, have something of a common grounds. I used to all be about enigma and mystery, suspense, but no, I'm not really trying to make it difficult for you. The best answer is I do not know myself the outcome. In one version it is Halloween that crumbles first, the second this Human world of yours. All of them have the same result: rocks fall, everyone dies. No Amityville, no Sanctuary, no turkey legs, chocolate bars, hot dog stands, Starbucks, not even me." He placed the tips of his fingers together, thoughtfully, "If anyone doubts the credibility of my story, at least let place two absolute truths. The first is that I am of the self-preservation type and the second is I have no reason to lie because you cannot lie to me. My interest will primarily diverge to preservation, as opposed to Medea, who believed the best defense is a good offense. As for the favour, all in due time. There is no rush, not for me quite yet. I'm sure we'll all have a touching reunion quite soon."

A question or a wish? While Ryan didn't have any wish in particular, at least, none that he figured the horseman would grant, Ryan did want some answers. However...

"For what reason does 'that person' owe you a favour? The one you said Mark knows." There were probably many questions he should have asked in stead of this. But ever since Death had said it, Ryan felt curiosity gnawing at him. He wanted to know more about this. Just who did Mark know, that owed 'Death' a favour?

"Wait." Robert stopped finding everything funny for a moment, when he heard Dakota pick up on being granted wishes. He hadn't actually picked it up himself - when Death talked, Robert sort of drowned in words. But Dakota's response made Robert realize just what was going on. "Seriously?"

So this guy was.. a... horseman genie?

Sure, this was his enemy. Sure, they were probably supposed to kill him. But, like Dakota, Robert did not spit on fate. He struck while the iron was hot, and took advantage of anything life set out for him.

He rose his hand as if he was in class.

"I wish that me and Petra could live normal human lives again." He turned, and gave Madison a guilty shrug. "No offense. But I wanna be a dad, princess. Real bad. And if a magical genie horseman is going to be my way out.."

He was going to take it.

Rep listened to what the figure in front of them had to say, the callous way he seemed able to twist the world. And he was not afraid. Instinctually he should have been, what he was faced with was a creature of neither Halloween or of Humans. The horsemen were strange, unfathomable creatures, and why one would wish to help them in any way at all baffled him deeply. But he couldn't overthink it, the moment he over thought it, he would ask for nothing at all. And he had been given the chocolate simply for asking, and yet here he stood.

"He gave me it." he replied to Harrison, before turning his attention on the horseman before him, there was only really one thing he could ever ask for.

"Strength." he said. "I don't expect you to give me anything. I have to fight your people after all. But you are more than human. I want to be more than human. So I wish for power and strength, however you interpret that."

hand trembled on her gun looking at Death.

"You're granting wishes?" The mist huntress didn't even care what or the consequences that her wish could bring. "Can..Can you bring my twin back to me? She is in a pod on the Islands. Can you wake her?"

Having Alaska with her was more than she ever wanted. More then she could ask for. Alaska finally reunited with Nevada?

It was her only dream, it was the only damn reason she was a huntress. Why she was on the stupid island risking her life everyday.

"Please....."

Okay, level of trust was slowly rising again despite this being DEATH. He spoke sense. Someone as powerful and old as Death had to have some good outlooks on how the world could go right? Sure he was all about dying and stuff, but if there was no one left to die... he'd have no more power. Deryk considered this all very carefully.

The offer the all powerful being gave caught his attention. Deryk tilted his head and stared. A question or a wish...

His initial thought was to wish for a normal life like Robert had done. But.. that was incredibly selfish of him. He didn't want to be like Cipher from the Matrix, doubling back on the red pill. There was also the thought to try and ask for peace, but that was rather unrealistic. Not only would Halloween and the Horsemen probably not be able to survive if the world was peaceful, but he'd probably get laughed at for it.

Maybe he should go with a question. He'd at least be helpful that way. Plus, he was a Death Hunter. He should be gathering whatever information he could.

"Since you're leading them now, what are your plans with the horsemen? Medea seemed to be um... out for revenge or something.. well. She kinda was aggressive from what I've seen.. attacking our bases and all and stuff..." he decided to ask.

While wishes were tempted, there were always a cost. With Death, it usually didn't end well. Typical, Rep asked for strength, to which Melvin passed him. "You can't even handle what you have now, Rep." He said, pointing that out to him. "Do you think this is going to give you something for free? Not even our own techs do that."

He moved forward, and in true fashion, Melvin was here to ask questions.

"You have no reason to lie, you state all outcomes lead to death but in different ways to one end, and you preserve yourself. If I hold these to be true, and you do not know the outcome aside from us all dying, you must know of a way to make sure we don't die first or ways to die last. Some way to give us a edge over the rest to favor the outcome to our side. See, I'm the self-preserving type too and also like keeping the rest of my group alive, and if you saw these outcomes, you must have thought of ways to preserve yourself if you think everyone dies and you don't want to. So what is it? How do the Hunters turn the outcome in our favor and manage to preserve ourselves to this unavoidable ends that you see? I want that answer."

Jordan's chest hurt and his mouth had gone dry. He had to swallow twice before he could speak. Reasonable questions, unreasonable ones, serious and ridiculous wishes, and all he could think was this is Death.

He stood and asked, as steadily as he could manage, "When Andy died. Was it quick?"

As unsettling as a smile from Death himself probably should have been, Mimsy felt a sense of comfort, or something very close to it. She didn't try to analyze why for once; she just smiled back, a real smile devoid of sarcasm or bitterness, releasing the hem of her shirt so it could slip back down to better reflect her dignity.

Two options. It should have been so straightforward - and for Dakota, who answered without missing a beat, it clearly had been. She wanted to believe that her questions and desires had significantly more depth than his, so she fought to dredge up something important enough for this moment.

<Oh, OH MIMSY, wish for legcovers of stars that are always in motion! Like TRUALITY MAGICS.>

Or a wish for Svensyl to have no voice for the rest of eternity.

Not that his suggestion of being able to wear a constantly shifting galaxy was unappealing, but there were a thousand more pressing questions, more useful wishes.

<Ask for a kiss! Now is YOUR CHANCE, niddleplum!>

The possibilities were piling up in her head, and something tugged at her over and over from the bottom of the pile, something she'd done her best to forget all about. But it was difficult to forget something that had been so important to her for such a huge portion of her life, especially when it existed within everything she touched.

Her life was on a steady decline, by her standards, bound to land somewhere she never would have wanted to be. She was allowing herself distractions. She was losing focus. She had been hugged and kissed and touched after more than half a lifetime of avoiding any of that. There was a clear point where everything had fallen apart, immediately followed by a week of refusing to eat or move or think. There was a time when she and all of her strength were broken, and it was very, very clear to her that the pieces had not been properly put back together. And at this juncture, she didn't think that they ever could be again.

So logically, she had only one choice. Had her resolve never been damaged, she would have never fallen so far behind in her work, would have rid herself of Clerise by now, would have never grown weaker through companionship, would have never submitted a second time to the tall man and his shadows.

The sickness she'd felt at her discovery of failure churned in her stomach, but this time it turned cold and impassive in lieu of envy.

"I wish..." Her brow twitched, and she held her head a little higher. She couldn't let appearances drop now. "...handsome, that I had been the one to discover the inarguable proof behind the Higgs Boson, so that my name and my name alone would be permanently bound to the particle responsible for the mass of everything. I am certain that this is a simple request for someone of your capabilities."

The tentativeness and flat-out refusal of some of those around her had not gone unnoticed. If she had anything to lose, she might have been among them, but she hated what she had become, and probability dictated that she would most likely never have another chance to request something from an entity who could rework time, destroy the lives of an entire team of scientists, and grant her a passive form of immortality all at once.

People were asking for all sorts of things; some selfish, some logical, some emotional... he honestly wasn't sure where to go with this. He didn't really want to go back to his old life, he had so many friends now and he didn't want to lose them. He didn't want anything grand or amazing just handed to him. That defeated the point in earning his manly. No... right now he just really REALLY wanted to go...

"Home. I want to go home please. I'm just so tired of repeating this day over and over..." He drew a deep breath and sighed exhaustedly, "Please sir."
