This was turning into the most dysfunctional sneak attack of all time, seeing all the interference and flying/flaming zombies...
[12]

--Minutes Before--

Ryugi headed away from the site of his battle, moving to search out more enemy groups that had penetrated Barton's City Walls. As he made his way over the rooftops, it suddenly occurred to him that if he was going to successfully take on groups by himself, he would need as much help as he could get, and as such, he quickly activated a Light Shield Attack.

Quote:
*Light Shield-
Spherical shield of photons that renders Ryugi invisible, no damage or protection. Also masks Ryugi's energy signature, making him nearly impossible to detect -2 turn charge-

The shield in place, Ryugi then continued off towards the Town Square, where he could hear screams and shouts. Hopefully he wouldn't be too late...

--Present Time--

Silver would have absolutely NO idea how right that thought was. For zipping across the rooftops was his biggest and most dangerous interference yet. It took only a few minutes for Ryugi to find the location of Barton Square, mostly from the explosions and screaming. But once he got a clear view of the area, he quickly assessed the situation. It appeared that most of this group was still around, and along with this group, there was ALSO an Evil Moonblade. Three more warriors were trying to do battle with these fighters, and appeared to be fighting a slowly losing fight. Well, it was about time SOMEONE showed up to try and even the odds. Ryugi jumped into the air, the sound of him moving being blotted out by the screams and yells of combat and death, the sight of him was blocked by a Light Shield that he had created soon after his defeat of the first group he encountered. Not only did the attack render him completely invisible, it had a handy side effect of masking his energy signature to the point of nonexistence. Perfect for sneaking around a hostile area undetected. He could not be seen, he could not be heard, and he could not be sensed. He was completely invisible. Perfect for a sneak attack. And the target of his attack, would be none other than his former friend turned foe, Ammiel "Silver" Moonblade.

Ryugi jumped through the air towards Moonblade's back, Ragnarok in hand and overhead in a cleaving strike. He would then descend upon Moonblade like Death upon Guldor's frozen tundra. And much like death, there would be no warning, no hint of the attack, nothing to alert Moonblade or any others present in the Square to the presence of Ryugi's strike. It was silent, swift, and most of all, unexpected. The attack would be terrifyingly powerful, and yet, at the same time, it would be graceful. Ragnarok was poised for the maximum amount of power and cutting efficiency Ryugi could hope to attain from the angle and speed at which he was approaching his ally turned enemy. The blow would not be pulled or held back in any way, shape, or form. This was business. Pure and simple. The attack would simply happen in an instant. In an instant, the razor sharp cutting edge of Ragnarok would slice cleanly through the top of Moonblade's head. In an instant, his body would be perfectly dissected in half with frightening precision. And in an instant, the blade that had once fought to protect this very life that had been corrupted by darkness, evil, and hatred, would end it. The metal breastplate would simply give way to softer flesh and the terrifying power of Ragnarok unleashed, and even if it didn't, the force from the blow alone would be enough to shatter and cut bones to pieces, effectively killing Moonblade before he would even have the time to try and comprehend what the ******** just happened. That was also due to the fact that he was so preoccupied with making a sneak attack of his own, and getting into position for his emerald flames...

All that the horde and other fighters would see would be an explosion of sorts. This would come from where Moonblade had just been standing and firing off the first few feet of his emerald flames. This would happen regardless of whether or not Moonblade had been killed. Ryugi still had to LAND from his sneak attack, and the sheer force and power from the strike would collide with the ground around the fountain, making a small crater, and sending up a cloud of rock and debris which would serve to further hide him from view, as well as cause general confusion among the enemy forces as they wondered what in god's name had just exploded so near them without a trace of even arriving. From there, a couple different courses of action could be taken, but it would depend fully on what had just happened to Ammiel "Silver" Moonblade. What with no warning or hints whatsoever, and being fully preoccupied with planning his own sneak attack, as well as firing his own attack towards enemy forces... With those factors being the case, it was not a matter of IF Moonblade was hit, but simply, how close to dying would he be after being hit in such a way...

Kchain, being a talented magical user too, easily sensed the presence of a Light spell, especially in the midst of all the dark. Focusing for a brief moment, he cast a spell in an attempt to intervene in this.

Magical Cache

This spell stops the opposing spells effects from coming into action for a period of time, usually dependant on how strong the spell is and how much effort the caster puts into stopping it.

Unfortunately for Arzhael, this meant the spell was effectively stopped in it's tracks for the equivalent of five turns.

((So, you're not healed for the equivalent of Alpha posting, Darsh posting, that Lord guy posting, me posting, and then you posting getting healed.))

Her position compromised, it was time for the final portion of this group to finally reveal itself. They had been watching her for some time, waiting for her to wade into combat, but she seemed content to stand in the alleyway and cast her spells from afar. That made her a very easy target.

Darkness suddenly engulfed Grace, followed by three telltale clicks of crossbows firing their payloads. Three poisoned bolts coming from three different directions, all aimed to pierce her somewhere on her body, all within an instance of all visible light vanishing. Even if she could see in natural darkness, she would be unable to see in this magical darkness. Three beady pairs of crimson eyes focused in on her, the drow activating a spell that allowed them to see in this unnatural darkness, gaining further advantage. They moved in for the kill, two approaching her from the front, a third dropping down silently into the alley behind her.

--Present Time--

Ryugi still had to LAND from his sneak attack, and the sheer force and power from the strike would collide with the ground around the fountain, making a small crater, and sending up a cloud of rock and debris which would serve to further hide him from view, as well as cause general confusion among the enemy forces as they wondered what in god's name had just exploded so near them without a trace of even arriving. Ryugi was correct to know that all manner of things could happen as a result of his actions, there were a multitude of directions that the future could take all that was needed was time.

All of time froze for an instant, no longer than the blink of an eye as a ragged slice appeared in the air next to Ryugi and Fate meddled in all of those possible outcomes...

Verdandi reached one shining hand through the ragged opening and forcefully dragged Ryugi through her portal and then shoved him back out in a dark alley way, a good 100 feet away from where he had landed a moment ago."Don't say I never did anything for you!" wink The shining white being would smile at him for an instant before time unfroze and the transient being went back to her pocket space to contemplate all the changes her direct interference was going to cause.

Time resumed it's normal plodding course.

eek Grace hit the ground the instant that her sight disappeared, she had been trained to fight without her eyes, even if it was definitely one of her least favorite things.
Grace's Spell Book
Fade to Black~ Casts a circle of pure darkness around target. Note; This spell was designed to negate heat sensing vision as well as normal vision! (roll 1 10 sided die multiply the number showing on the die by 10 for the circular range of the spell around the target. Eg; 1= 10 feet from the edge of the spell to the target)

Grace barely breathed the activation words of the spell casting it upon herself, even as she rolled away from where she had landed, knowing she was up against her worst nightmare, Dark Elves... and she was a much better healer than she was a fighter. Her unnatural darkness would spread for 30 feet all around her hopefuly leveling the playing feild a little.

The situation was getting out of hand. There were dark fields, crossbow bolts, dark figures, undead, and chaos all around her. The world that seemed to be once a peaceful place was not a pit of hell. She hops back with her newly aquired crossbow and stares at it. Her ninja skills would be enough to help but she did not have the ability to really understand the enchantment of the bolt. That was quite fine though. She rushes over to the building that served as the arena and looked up the towering building. It was an easy jump from the ground to the top. She crouches down and then hops up rising into the air. She gently lands on the top of the building and turns around. Fire, darkness, light, negative powers, and positive powers, they were everywhere. She takes out the bolt she has and then reaches down. She tears a piece of cloth from her pants and wraps it around the head of the bolt. She then holds up the bolt. Out of the dark sky flys down her smaller black dragon. It lands on her shoulder and then tilts its head up. Fire ignites from its throat and then spews from its mouth catching the cloth on fire with its dark flames. Alpha then loads the bolt into the crossbow and quickly aims. If not fired quickly the crossbow itself would light. She then nods to her dragon and pulls the trigger directing it at the necromancer. Her dragon then flaps its wings hard giving the fired bolt more speed.

Unfortunatly for Moonblade, he was too preoccupied with the three other warriors to concentrate on finding his cloaked foe, whose presence in the City he didn't even know about. His gout of emerald fire was quick and already launched, so it would still engulf the other defenders. Moonblade's one reprieve was that he was wearing his magical helmet to prevent against psionic attacks and blows to the head, but this wouldn't serve to do more than save the body from oblivion.

Due to the sheer force of the attack, the helmet (and his skull) would shatter on impact. He may not be cleaved in half, but it mine as well could have. He would quickly fall to the ground, a torrent blood splattering in the streets. Regardless of whether or not the explosion ensured, Moonblade was as good as dead.

It seems Decruda was actually right. Ryugi HAD no honor.

Alpha_Rain
Alpha grits her teeth as she feels something pierce her back. She falls on her knee and her dragon is there on her shoulder again. It breaths fire down her back removing the bolt. Alpha feels a tear stream down her face as it still stings a little. The dragon claws down her back leaving marks down but then breaths on the spot doing a remove enchantment. Alpha feels releaved from the magic but she was still not happy. She gets up using her spear and then spins around. She frowns in confusion as she is not to sure what to do here. She grins and then dashes with her dragon flapping its wings it turns into a high speed bash. She then bashes the skeleton as hard as she can sending it flying. In her grasp the crossbow with the enchanted bolts. She grins softly and looks down at the necromancer.
((*Disregards her second post*))

The eldritch fire would engulf her, even after the bolt was removed, severely burning her and her dragon until the flames were removed. She could still do a high speed dash and shoulder charge the skeleton all she liked, but she was still going to be hurting. She shouldn't even be moving with all the damage she's taken so far. The crossbow would be empty, since its payload was already fired and the skeleton hadn't reloaded yet. The other bolts were on the skeleton she just sent flying.

This was turning into one big ******** of a battle.

((Rolling die to see if any bolts hit. 4 = all of them. >.> ... okay, 1 will hit, from a downward angle.)) The drow over by the alleyway were still able to see. They spell they had activated enabled them to see in the magical darkness. Her darkness would only be redundancy, and really make no difference. The two in front of her drew out bladed weapons, advancing upon her slowly. The one on the right had a pair of slim longswords, while the one on the left a scimitar and a dagger. The one behind her, cutting off her only other path of escape, reloaded his hand crossbow and pulled out a dagger.

And then Ryugi appeared?

It would be assumed that Vi took the volley of gunshots to the face and chest, since a new player had entered the fray and was attacking the necromancer, suspended in his last action as a response was awaited, so the author can't wait any longer with the new threat arising. The necromancer immediately felt the entrance of the new presence above him (as he had sensed Ryugi's invisible form before he was taken away, though it wasn't stated because of previously mentioned wait), and swiftly jumped out of the way. The golem hovering near him immediately acted upon its previously given directives: defend the master. It charged in quickly and swung its claws to smash the beast across its torso, emitting another pulse of negative energy.

The zombies, all six of them now, healed by the pulse, were back in the fight, and attacking anyone near them - except the child and woman, who were redirected to assault the spider-creature-thing that almost squished the necromancer, instead of Kchain, who turned out to be helping their cause. The necromancer raised his scythe, shouting "Darshendros!", before smashing the butt of the haft to the ground. The ground split and cracked as the earth started to violently tremble and shake.

It was an earthquake!

Ignore the numbers unless you want to calculate damage...
Earthquake
Evocation [Earth]
Level: Clr 8, Destruction 8, Drd 8, Earth 7
Components: (Spell stored in scythe)
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Long (400 ft. + 40 ft./level)
Area: 80-ft.-radius spread (S)
Duration: 1 round
Saving Throw: See text
Spell Resistance: No

When you cast earthquake, an intense but highly localized tremor rips the ground. The shock knocks creatures down, collapses structures, opens cracks in the ground, and more. The effect lasts for 1 round, during which time creatures on the ground can’t move or attack. A spellcaster on the ground must make a Concentration check (DC 20 + spell level) or lose any spell he or she tries to cast. The earthquake affects all terrain, vegetation, structures, and creatures in the area. The specific effect of an earthquake spell depends on the nature of the terrain where it is cast.

Open Ground: Each creature standing in the area must make a DC 15 Reflex save or fall down. Fissures open in the earth, and every creature on the ground has a 25% chance to fall into one (Reflex DC 20 to avoid a fissure). At the end of the spell, all fissures grind shut, killing any creatures still trapped within.

Structure: Any structure standing on open ground takes 100 points of damage, enough to collapse a typical wooden or masonry building, but not a structure built of stone or reinforced masonry. Hardness does not reduce this damage, nor is it halved as damage dealt to objects normally is. Any creature caught inside a collapsing structure takes 8d6 points of bludgeoning damage (Reflex DC 15 half ) and is pinned beneath the rubble (see below).

Pinned beneath Rubble: Any creature pinned beneath rubble takes 1d6 points of nonlethal damage per minute while pinned. If a pinned character falls unconscious, he or she must make a DC 15 Constitution check or take 1d6 points of lethal damage each minute thereafter until freed or dead.

The growing battle at the town square was now drawing aggression from the group near the tavern, who were close enough to join the fray.

"You two, watch over the hostages and kill anyone who tries freeing them," the necromancer of the group tells the two skeletal warriors. The rest of the party heads out toward the square, with the group's drow taking to the rooftops stealthily to look for any fights going on along the outskirts of the battlefield. Things certainly were looking messy.

"Zombies, aid them," the necromancer commanded, sending his four zombies into the ******** to muck it up even more. "You, wade in there and use your pulse," he told the shadesteel golem, which did as it was told.

Oh yeah, things were about to get much worse now. twisted

Because nobody's been acknowledging any effects from it...
Negative Wave Pulse
The shadesteel golem can emit a burst of inky black negative energy as a free action. The pulse wave drains life from every living creature within 40 feet of the golem. Undead creatures are healed of any damage, and any turning effect they are under is broken. A death ward or similar effect protects from the shadesteel golem's negative pulse wave.

Updated status of forces
Lead Group: Arena (engaged by Poppy)
Groups 2 & 3: Town Square/Tavern (******** 4: Train Station (engaged by Poppy)
Group 5: Eastside/East Gate (?)
Group 6: 2 remaining, somewhere.

It seems Decruda was actually right. Ryugi HAD no honor.
As Ryugi landed, he'd grip the handle of Sol Blade, and quickly unleash its Negation ability.

Quote:
*Negation-
This default ability of the sword allows it to negate incoming magical attacks, within reason, using anti-magic. Higher power attacks can be negated by adding more energy to the blade, which can change regular magical energy into Anti-magic. The Sol Blade can hold up to 10 Anti-Magic charges, but cannot hold any Magic Charges of its own. This is controlled by smaller, more effective energy leylines than the ones in Ragnarok. All of Sol Blade's attacks use anti-magical energy. This energy does normal damage to a non-magical or elemental being. Double damage to magical users and elemental users. And does four times the damage to a totally magical or elemental being or spirit.

The burst of anti-magical energy would serve to further weaken Moonblade, as well as prevent any other strange magical effects from taking place around his, or Moonblade's position, such as time warps and teleportation. The energy would also hang around the immediate area, wreaking havoc with any other magical attacks. Unfortunately, this also meant that Ryugi's Light Shield would be dispersed, but even then he still had the cloud of dust to hide him from view.

Ryugi kept the sadness he felt within himself for later lamenting, but for right now, there were other people that needed his help, and he wouldn't hesitate to assist them. From his point of view, he'd done the honorable thing. Like putting an old, sick, suffering dog out of its misery by putting it to sleep. Even though it was painful, Ryugi honestly felt he'd helped Silver, and released him from a life of torment and darkness. And honestly, the world would do better to remember him as the mighty captain of the Ryugin, than an evil being bereft of morals and compassion. [14]

((NOW. I suggest we ALL MAKE A TURN ORDER, so that this doesn't degenerate into any more of a ******** that its becoming already. I think all the heroes that haven't posted yet should post, and then we will ALL WAIT FOR DARSHENDROS to post and responds to our attacks, before we even THINK of posting again. It'll make things much easier to read and understand for BOTH sides.))

"MARCH."

From the depths of the forest, beasts started emerging. Well, not literally, they were just zombies, but ******** if it wasn't a disturbing assortment. The Death Knight's cloak was forced aside as he thrust his spear out towards the town, that strange flowmetal armour obvious along with a broadsword sheathed at his hip. He'd grab his shield, strapping it to his left arm and moving forwards, leading his forces.

And what did that entail? Wasn't it obvious? Ancient bronze shields, most scratched and rusted, a few missing pieces off the edges. A field of jagged spears mocking the clear blue sky. Black cloaks that rustled with the confused afternoon breezes, parting briefly to reveal grey pallid flesh that was not without substantial muscle, despite its pestilence. Old iron helms that disguised cold and uncaring eyes. Who knew what sort of unholy ritual had been conjured to summon such an army, a joke that poked fun at itself and the former glory these dead heroes once possessed.

The Knight, and three hundred undead Spartans, moved to take Barton.

Arzhael was in all kinds of trouble.

It wasn't like this was the first time, though. The only problem was, this was the first time he was in trouble and blind. A sudden wave of heat rushed over him, and, unaware of the situation at hand, Arzhael did what a person covered in armor should do.

He turtled.

Dropping quickly to his knees and burying his exposed head into his chest while covering the rest with his arms would serve to delay any sort of damage dealt by the conical breath weapon. Armor was slowly corroded, but at a far less rapid rate than the flesh of a wandering zombie would be. So, all in all, aside from a few burn marks on his face and scalp that would probably turn second degree by the time the fighting was all done with, Arzhael was no worse for the wear.

He also didn't seem to be too intent on unturtling until he could make out the golden patch on his armor. Or even remotely see it, for that matter.
