Caroline felt embarrassed when the teacher asked about the homework as she had not done it. She raised her hand slowly, "Excuse me, professor...I-I..did not know..a-about the h-homework" she stammered and then put her hand down.

As the teacher awoke, he asked about the homework. Monica looked at the soul sand infront of her and felt proud of her work. Hopefully Gray liked it.
Monica looked at the teacher and then her soul sand. "H-here is mine" she said with a slight smile.

"Homework? There was homework?" those were the thoughts running through Lara's head " Exactly how much have I missed?"
She was a relieved that the girl behind her had not completed it so at least she was not the only one. Since the teacher was now awake she closed the textbook which she had been reading and took out her notepad. She had always been top of her class back at her previous school and she plan to do so here as well.

"Well since half the class didn't show up and two thirds of the part that did, don't have their homework, I guess we'll be saving the project for next class," Gray said, yawning. "Archie, get these two girls the supplies they'll need to make their soul sand." One of the golems began to make its way around the room, gathering supplies as Gray stood and moved to sit against the edge of his desk. "Alright, the run down is that next time we're going to begin learning to construct simple golems. There is some preparation ahead of time that you'll need to do to ensure your golems listen to you--you'll be making something called soul sand. I'll be giving instructions, an alchemy circle and most of the ingredients. You'll have to gather some things for yourselves."
Archie began setting out a selection of bottles in front of each girl, as well as a large sheet of parchment with instructions and an intricate alchemy circle on it.
"You'll also need to use a bit of your own blood for the soul sand. Have it by next class."
Gray yawned again and waved the girls out of the classroom. "Dismissed."

Caroline was glad that the girl in front of her had not done the homework either. The other girl had, which was nice in a way because at least the teacher would not be completely upset. She sighed with relief and looked up at the teacher who told the two what they needed and what they had to do.
"Use a bit of my blood!?" she gasped and thought. She had never done that and did not want to either.
"Okaayy..." she trembled and said. She grabbed her stuff when the teacher said the class was dismissed. She walked, more like dragged herself to the Student Lounge where she decided to do her homework. She continuously mumbled, "Oh god.." as she was very frightened.

As Gray spoke, Monica nodded and listened. Wait.. They needed to use their own blood? Monica shrugged and decided she would do her homework in her room instead, so she didn't scare anyone.
She waved slightly at the teacher and exited the room.

Lara did not know exactly what "soul sand" was and why they had to use their own blood. She had never gotten homework like this before.
"Well, trying something new isn't going to hurt me ,right?" she thought as she exit the classroom, flipping through a book for information on this "soul sand".
