There was nothing left here for him. His body was beaten, brusies and blood coursing on nearly every visible part of him. His Starseed had been grabbed, his bones and will broken. His home was overrun, destined to be ruled by intruders.

His one saving grace in this was that he had expelled Pegasus in time to save her both from her injuries, and of the sight of her Guardian failing so miserably.

As the killing blow hit, Quail's Eye let out one last pain and regret filled YELL...before disappearing in a burst of wind and tiny quail colored feathers.

It's guardian gone, the grass of Quail's field trembled.

Then all present felt a sudden surge of energy. Darkness, the kind of energy the Negaverse thrived on. Lived on even.

The Negaverse had won. Quail Eye's field was -theirs-.

HP: 31

In the distance of the battlefield there was a small figure curled up on the ground. Was it a dead body? No. It was a small senshi who had been commanded to hide. No one wanted her there with them and although she had found her precious plush bunny, she was at a loss for joy. Everyone... everyone was fighting. Everyone was getting hurt. Worst of all: everyone was attacking quail. She could hear his cries in the wind, the very air around her. It made the small child cry even more. She didn't know what to do. How could she help him? She had tried earlier but instead she had ended up being piggyback'd by him. After that had happened, everyone had started attacking him. Clearly it was her fault.

Her thoughts were spinning as she worried greatly. Was he okay? He hadn't given up right? She had prayed so hard that he would be protected. That he would stay safe. Would it do any good? Did it do any good? Finally the small child stopped sobbing. It was slow, and she still had a few sniffles as she slowly sat up off the ground, her icy blue eyes staring sadly into the very ground she had pushed herself off of. It was too much for her. The cries of Mister Birdy had been too much. No matter how much he had wanted her to go away. To hide. She couldn't do it anymore. He was out there presumably all alone with people thoughtlessly attacking him! She had to get to him. She had to get off the ground.

Her leg still hurt from the blade that had graze it earlier and she found a hard time standing up from being curled up on the ground for so long. Regardless, the small child clenched her teeth and pushed herself up. She would get to him! She would. She would tell him everything would be okay! They wouldn't take his home from them! She'd make sure of it, she'd stop them! He wouldn't have to be alone anymore either! Her pure white wings lifted, the golden stars and moons that dangled off of them dangling with each movement. She held on tightly to the winged plush bunny.

"Hold on tight, don't fall this time," she whispered to him as she dropped a light kiss on the bunny's head before she took off into the air. Oh, where was he? She flew up as high as she could get, her wings taking the pain she felt in her leg right away. The pressure was relieved and her thoughts went wild as she seen quail in the distance. She had found him! He was close to the ground! She rushed towards him. She opened her mouth to call to him when she suddenly froze. She dropped. She swore her heart stopped beating as she watched quail disappear, leaving nothing left but a pile of feathers. Her eyes were empty. Her eyes were full of tears. She slowly bent over, her knees dropping to the ground with the feathers that had fallen. She picked them up in her arms and hugged them closely to her chest as she sobbed uncontrollably into them. She was late. Why? Why did they do this?

The remaining senshi would only have another moment to take in the sight of their failure: the surge of dark energy all around them was too strong, overwhelmingly painful. It was enough that it almost seemed as if it was a physical force all on its own... one that was rapidly and painfully pushing all of its opponents out.

They did it...
My god...

They did it.
The wave of energy was -exhilarating- pure and fresh as it washed over them, over everything... the did it, the field was -theirs-. He tiled his head back and laughed, pure unadulterated exhilarated laughter.

"We did it....WE DID IT!!!" HE crowed and tossed his arms around Uranophane first and then Fayalite in Hugs... Wolfram.... well almost hugged but there was a moments pause and a hand offered.

Fayalite grunted out in pain as the kick nailed her in the stomach, breath being lost as she fell to her knees. Just as she was about to last out, now weaponless, to grasp at the senshis ankles... she suddenly felt a burst of power.

Power that made her eyes open wide, it felt... well, normal. Like the negaverse. Not the.. light aura that was here previously.

Another thing? The senshi were -gone-. Vanished right before her eyes... "The hell?" The negaverser turned, seeing Wolf and Uphane on the ground.. and zink standing. Eyebrows drawn together she approached them, noticing her pole being held by zink and wolf. "....Does this mean we won?" Oriole colored wings folded, and pressed against her back. A few feathers missing but still in working order.

"ACK!" She cried as her captain hugged her. "Ahha!" She cried out, jumping once. "Nice final blow there, guys. " She offered a hand to wolf and Uphane to help them stand if theyd like.

Uranophane was definitely caught by surprise by the hug, but instead of minding it much she couldn't help but share in the jubilation, her voice cracking out across the field in her recognizable, cackling laughter. Finally. A victory. A real victory! They were one giant leap closer to securing all of Elysion from the invading senshi, and the Captain felt immensely proud and elated that she had been able to play a part in it.

The magical string wrapped around her wrists finally faded, and she accepted Fayalite's help in getting up.

And then this happened.

From his height Orion had a prime view of what was happening to poor Quail-eye. He watched, unable to get there fast enough as the Negas ganged up on him. Before he even got close the talking bird boy was yelling and then disappeared.

Oh, s**t, Spinning in the air he searched for Alcyone. He needed to find his teammate and get her out of there. He had a very bad feeling about what was going to happen next.

Unfortunately his feeling came true and before he could get to Alcyone he was literally being pushed away from her. "ALCYOOO-" His yell for the brunette was cut off as he was yanked out of the dream field and thrown back into his bed, feeling like he got thrown into a brick wall.

"OOOOONE!" He was sitting straight up in bed still yelling at the top of his lungs. Only he wasn't Orion anymore, he was Damian and he was in his room lying next to Carter. Realizing this he turned to face his roommate, silver eyes a little on the crazy side.

Carter had jumped up the moment Damian had started yelling, a sleepy and confused look on his face. Staring at the red head he put a hand on his shoulder, concerned. "Uhh, you okay, man?"

Damian jumped slightly when the hand touched him, his breathing finally starting to even out. "Yeah, yeah. I'm fine, man. Just had a really bad dream. Go back to sleep." He watched his roommate stare at him for a long moment, before shrugging, seeming to accept his explanation. Damian raked his fingers through his hair, trying to center himself some before he copied Carter and laid back down.

By the time he was calm enough to sleep he could hear the other teen's snores, and after poking him to make sure he was really asleep he did something he was slightly embarrassed about, but couldn't help. Sliding under the covers he scooted close to Carter, nestling against him. Feeling safe pressed up against a warm body Damian managed to fall asleep and not replay the horrific battle over in his dreams.

They had failed.

The defeat tasted like ashes and blood in her mouth as the wave of dark negaverse energy forced the senshi away.

Abeline Froust woke with tears stinging her eyes. She sat up, her body shaking like she had been running. No one would see her now, shaking and crying in the dark.

She didn't accept failure well. Not well at all. Finally she twisted, hardly mindful of the time. She had to report to Chronos. had to tell the others. The next battle would be worse. She fumbled in the darkness for her cell-phone.

Her shaking gave way to anger. Fresh and renewed anger. Although she had no idea who she was truly angry with. The Quail for not trusting them earlier and letting his home be destroyed, herself for not managing to protect him, or the negaverse, the source of all this hate and conflict.
She beat her fist against her bedside table until wood splintered and her hands bled. No one was ever home to here her collapse.

"I failed again tonight, Princess." The words choked her lungs, Abeline's eyes hardened.

Her tears dried.

She had a plan.

A slash of pain cut through the guardian cat's body as Fayalite's staff flung on her back. A short shriek escaped between her lips as they hit on the ground. The hit, it really hurt! Even though it was nothing when compared to pain Quail's Eye felt, it still hurt more than she could imagine!

"Ow wow wow wow wowww..." Cora whined, her eyes tightly closed. Like that would help her anyway. For a second, her focus was in her own pain and not in the quail boy she had tried to protect. But then her eyes shot open and sight of Zinkenite and Wolframite hitting Quail's Eye one last time was right in front of her! She tried to reach towards them, hoping to pull the boy away from the blow but her body refused to move. She could only watch Quail's Eye as he screamed his last scream and disappeared.

"No."

Her voice was only barely hearable. She stared at the space where Quail's Eye had been a moment before. Her ears picked voices of Negaverse celebrating their victory but she didn't react in those voices. Those voices didn't matter. Nothing did matter when all she could hear was echoes of Quail's Eye's scream.

There she was, staring at the empty space in front of her. Her whole body was paralyzed and her mind empty from feelings. Only one thought was in her mind. She had failed. She had failed to protect him. It was her fault they had lost.

She didn't notice a senshi in midnight blue uniform at first. It was hard to react to anything when something as shocking as another guardian's death had just happened in front of her eyes. Slowly but surely voices of chibi senshi's sobbing reached in her ears. Her head turned to look at her but she didn't recognize a crying child in front of her. Her head felt empty, lacking any emotion.

"Hypnos," she said silently. Her brains started to pick on pieces and get those pieces together. Suddenly, the reality hit her. It was Chibi Hypnos who was there, crying uncontrollably! A strong burst of sadness and guilt was rushed through her body. It was her fault she was so sad!

"Hypnos. Hypnos, I'm sorry," the cat girl whispered and knealt closer to chibi senshi. Tears started to flow from her eyes, asking for forgiveness. If only could she take her sadness away!

---

When Ainsley woke up in her room next, she found her dear kitty on her bed staring at her with pink eyes filled of sadness. She was gulping tears that kept flowing down from her eyes like a small river. Her tiny cat body was trembling furiously.

"I'm sorry..... I'm sorry.... I couldn't... I tried... Please forgive me... I never meant to make you sad.... I'm so so so sorry!" she winced and crawled close to her, pushing her cheeks againgst Ainsley's chest and making little watery stains in her pajama. She wanted to know she would forgive her, even though she had failed.

The pain that Fayalite's staff had caused on her back was aching somewhere and reminding it's presence but it was nothing to compare to the mental pain she felt in her mind. Physical pain would be easy to heal but she wasn't sure would her mental pain ever recover fully from this.
