She felt a ping in the pit of her stomach at the description he gave her. She knew exactly who he was looking for. She heistated to answer him feeling her eyes flutter with tears.
"Rumors of an ill girl with long blue hair? I have not heard of such girl being ill . . . but the girl of which you speak --" She felt herself become even more woozy. Iyasu gripped the stove a little tighter trying to prevent another spell of falling. The compliment he gave her would have normally made her cheeks turn rosey, however this time all of the warmth in her seemed to have left her entirely. A few soft tears drifted down her cheeks as she answered Akira's question fully, "I know the girl you seek. I did not know she was so ill. She was quite well in --" She stumbled backwards and bumped into the table behind her. Quickly she wiped away her tears and looked away. "The one you've been looking for is in my music class --" Iyasu answered him softly as she tried to find a seat to take. She did not want to black out again, especially not infront of Kibakichi and Akira.

Akira grabbed Iyasu and held her to him to keep her from falling before setting her down gently on the ground. "You should take it easy, just sit here and relax a minute or so." He wiped a tear away from Iyasu's cheeks. "Yes. She has been very ill, since the time of birth. This is due to the curse placed on the two of us for my mistakes...Remember...she gave her life for me to live. And I, who could not bear it, wanted to do anything and everything in my power to bring her back."
The man sat down next to Iyasu. "She was cursed to live a life of slavery and death..and if I do not find her, I may miss the chance to ever see her again. But...there is a problem....How long has this girl been in the okiya? Or do you know?" He gave a long sigh. "Just please take care of her while I am not there....dont tell her you met me, or who I am. I am sure she doesnt remember anything...even her real name." Akira smiled sadly. "Iyasu-sama, please understand that even a curse, can be just a tiny bump in the road. Do not let it get to you, and do not let it consume you into the brink of death. Just like she did. I am sure she will die soon. It is...I am afraid...inevitable..."
Akira paused. "Our destiny..."

"Akira-san, you out all of the people I know should understand what resides over my family. You are the only one who knew my father . . ." She answered him while he wiped away her tears. She almost wanted to laugh. A curse lasts for as long they live and even if they do not give in, it still resides in their soul. There is no escape, until they finalize it through their loop hole.
Iyasu looked up to him, the set of hazel eyes with the embracing green halo around each iris. "There is always an escape if you want one to be. The heart is stronger than what you think." She paused and looked over to Kibakichi. Her heart skipped a beat and then fleeted back. She faced Akira and then whispered softly, "My father would have never have put his trust in you if did not believe you had such a heart." She took in a deep breath, feeling her illness subside some. "Akira-san, before I give you her name and the information I know about her, would mind answering one question for me?" She asked subtly, keenly. If what was brewing her mind was truth in his answer, she would keep her knowledge locked away and never reveal it to anyone.

Iyasu looked over to Kibakichi, flushed harshly from embarrassment and stood up promptly. She steaded herself on a near by chair and then bowed deeply to him.
"Please forgive this foolish young woman for being so rude to you." Iyasu felt herself becoming light headed and bit unbalanced. She could not lose herself now, not while his attention was focused on her. She breathed faintly, feeling the pain well up again. The geisha rose up slowly
"Akira-san, it was a pleasure to speak to you again and I am sure the maiden that you seek will be surprised to know that I have bumped into you. If you will excuse me, Kibakichi-san was being so kind to tell me a very thrilling story." She said softly, feeling the very air from her lungs leave her. "I hope to see you again at the lounge in the near future." She bowed to Akira, before falling onto the ground. As she had feared, she had blacked out in front of the very patrons she entertains.

Akira sighed. "What is it with me and women of misfortune?" He mumbled to himself and rubbed his forehead. "Or is it I, who lingers with the fortune of death?" He bent forward and picked up Iyasu. "Woman. Dont you dare black out on us." He sighed again and set Iyasu down against a wall. "She is much better at medicines than I will ever be. She was a miko. Powerful one at that. Could heal just about anything. Seemed as though she could bring back the dead....but....She failed to heal herself. And it is all my fault that we ended this way." Akira pushed his suddenly appearing monacle up the bridge of his nose.
"Iyasu-sama. Your father spent his life searching for an answer to this curse. I will make you this promise. I vow on my life that I will help you, if you can help me." He gave a bow to the unconscious girl. "By the way, sweetheart...." He stared down his monacle at her, "you are not, and never have been, a foolish young woman. Even as a baby. You were cute. And you are now a very beautiful woman." The man turned to her patron. "Do take care of her, please do. I fear that I must leave now."
And then he was gone.

My eyes widen as I watch Iyasu fall to the floor, and nodded to the stranger, my mind still buzzing with questions. Who is that strange man and what connection does he have to Iyasu? And what do they mean to each other? I growl silently to myself as I stand up, wet a washcloth, squat down next to her and set it on her forehead. I'll be right back. I say to her with a gentleness that I haven't showed in many years. I stand back up, left the cottage and went to the field. I grabbed my jubai and obi and started heading back to the cabin.

Her vision blurred back into focus, feeling something cool on her forehead. It seemed no one was around.
'How long have I been out?' She thought quietly to herself as she tried to remember where she was. 'The cottage . . . Tora-san . . . Kibakichi-san . . . that strange ronin . . .'
"Akira-san and Kioku-chan?" She said aloud feeling her mouth run dry. "Kibakichi . . . where did he go?" Iyasu stood up slowly and removed the washcloth from her forehead she walked over to the cottage's door. She called out, "Kibakichi-san!"

I hear Iyasu's cry and I bolt towards the cottage handspringing over the fence, and running up to the cottage. Iyasu, you should be resting. I say curtly glaring at her.

She was taken a back and looked down, "I am sorry . . . I was more worried about you than I was myself . . ." Iyasu confessed as she walked back into the cottage and took a seat at the table. "Kibakichi-san, before you continue your story may I please explain to you about Akira-san?" She asked softly, placing her hands onto the table and allowing her fingers to over lap one another, "I think it is important that you know so that way you will not get the wrong idea . . ."

I head back into the cottage, set my juban and obi down on the table, and take a seat in front of her. Go ahead, milady. I tap my jewel with my finger. I stare directly into her eyes.

She gazed back his eyes with same intensity, "Akira-san knew my father, Seijitsu Hoshino. My father worked in the Emperor's army and stayed here, in Kyoto for a majority of the time. When he would come home he would sometimes bring Akira-san with him. He's known my entire family, and it is by luck that I should run into him again. He was a dear friend to my father and family. He is nothing more to me but an uncle." Iyasu said firmly, but softly. "This, I assure you, he is nothing more to me. I never knew what . . ." She paused and looked down, debating about going on or not.

I grab my cup of tea and drink from it, pondering. "I wish I knew my family." I thought to myself. Never knew what? How he feels about you? I say softly.

She looked into his eyes, "No . . . in truth, I do not wish to know how he feels about me in any way, except as family. I do not want to know . . ." Iyasu bite her lower lip feeling herself look away and warmth of salty tears streak down her cheeks, "I never knew that my father . . . he was looking for ways to deliver me and my sister from the pain of dying alone." She paused and looked up again, "He set up an arranged marriage for me . . . but I ran away to become a geisha . . . and then I met you." The young woman confessed before she stood up from her seat, steadying herself because she still felt a tiny bit weak.
"I think my heart is being foolish . . . maybe I should go . . ." She said more to herself than to Kibakichi. "I should go. Forgive me for causing you such an inconvinence . . . I was just being foolish . . ." Iyasu said meekly, but loud enough for all ears to hear.

I rise as well noticing her weakness, I head over to her. Believe me, this was not an inconvinence, but if you must go I will walk with you. But first... I wrap my arms around her and embrace her in a hug. Your father seems like great and noble man. I never knew my family.
