Justin had an idea. He started blasting cold air, then jumped up, making an airborne ice slide for him to glide on. As he slid, he kept on making the slide longer. This reminded him of a comic, for some reason.

"Cool!" Tails did his helicopter-tail thing, flying after Justin. Catching up quickly, he smiled. "See you've improved with your powers."
Knuckles and Luna were on the other side of Tails. He wasn't as fast as Shadow or Sonic, but he could keep up with them for the most part. "And he's only had them what, four days?"
"Hey, wait for me!" Rouge called, flapping her wings and taking flight.

Justin looked at Tails. "I think the weather here helps a bit, too." He explained. He then decided to show of a bit, making a few loops on his ice slide and enjoying the feel of blood rushing to his brain for a split second.

"Just don't turn into Sonic!" Rouge smiled slightly, flying upside-down. She'd caught up with them.
"Agreed!" Tails laughed.
Knuckles chuckled, looking ahead of him.
Luna was quiet. She seemed to be running absent-mindedly, like she was deep in thought....
Rouge noticed. "What's wrong, Luna? The only other time I've seen you run like that was when we weren't sure if the real Shadow had died from his fall to Earth, and that the one I'd found was a robot."

Justin stopped making crazy loops. He kinda got dizzy from doing that, anyway.

"It's just....Shadow seems....Off." She said, looking down at her feet as they moved.
"How so?"
"Since he came back from Saudia Arabia, he's seemed....meaner. Even for Shadow....And when I asked him about it....I thought he was going to hit me, but caught himself and said he was fine."

Justin nodded. "That kinda sounds like when he threw Tails to that gator." He whispered to himself.

"Yeah, I know what you mean." Tails mumbled, mostly to himself.
Luna's eyelids, which had been a little closed, opened widely. She looked at Tails. "Why? What did he do to you?"
"Uhm....Well...." Tails checked to see that Shadow and Sonic were still way ahead before hesitantly saying, "First, when I asked him what he bought in Saudia Arabia, he told me he got....things. I know he was lying, but now that I think about it, I don't get why he'd lie to that extreme. And next, while we were in the forest, he kneed me in the gut and threw me to an alligator, pulling me out at the last second."
If Luna's eyes were wide before, now they were huge. "HE WHAT?!"
"At least he was a little afraid to tell you about doing that." Rouge said, frowning.

Justin frowned as well. "Something's up with him. He's way too harsh, even for Shadow." He said.

"Okay, that's it. I'm getting to the bottom of this." Luna hurried up her running, but Rouge grabbed her arm, making her stop. "Let go of me!"
"No! If something really is up with Shadow, and he isn't just lacking sleep or something, he won't hesitate to destroy you if you get in his way! When he's serious about doing something, nothing is an obstacle. Not even his girlfriend." She landed. Knuckles and Tails halted and walked back.
"I'm not his-!" Luna began, still trying to tug away.
-Whatever! Then not even a girl is an obstacle."

Justin frowned. He didn't know what was up with Shadow, but if he did something like throw Tails to a gator again, things would get REAL ugly, and NO ONE wants to see a pissed off ice demon.

Luna shook her head, pulling her arm from Rouge's grip. "Whatever. Let's just get to Kendran." She said quietly, turning and walking again. They'd reached a cliff, so it was actually a very good thing they stopped in time. It went down like an ice slide, leading right down to a large city.
Rouge, surprised, followed her. As did Knuckles and Tails.
Tails pointed down at the civilization, which was not anything like Lingham(a small development). But image New York in the artic, and you have Kendran. "Look, there it is!"
"Damn." Knuckles mumbled, staring down at it. "For a town in these surroundings, that is big."

"Well....I'm pulling a Sonic, but...." Knuckles looked down off the edge, which sloped as it went down.
"Last one down is a rotten egg?" Tails finished for him, smiling.
"Bingo." Knuckles jumped off, landing on his feet as it got less steep. He slid down, like he was riding a railing.
Tails followed his lead, only landed on his butt, making it more of a slide.
Rouge shook her head. "God. What are we going to do with them?"
"If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!" Luna laughed a little, doing what Knuckles did(landing on her feet as well).

Justin smiled widely, jumping down and using his icy boots as skates, speeding down like a bullet. One lesson to be learned: NEVER have a race against an ice demon in the arctic.
