When an attendant returned, Aria could immediately tell that her worst fears were confirmed. "What about Mi-sama," she asked the glum, white-clad woman. When she nodded up and down, Aria knew she had survived. Taking a hand to her face, she wiped away the dried tears from her left eye, and then her right, using the cuff of her kimono. She could always clean it later, when less important times occurred. "Please take me to her."
Going down the left hallway instead of the right, the nurse and the shrine maiden went passed more than several open doors, each one with their own newly added patient. What had happened here was no more than a calamity, a tragedy of horrific proportions. If the mushroom plague had gotten out of control, into the village... Aria trailed off her thoughts, her eyes looking down at the ground's tiled ignorance. "She is just through here, miss," the nurse spoke up as they came across the last room. Dismissing herself, the nurse left the door open for Aria.
She did not know what to think, as the window filtered the streaming sun through the slightly parted curtains. Mi was hooked up to an IV drip, looking sullen but otherwise alright. The elder did not turn to face Aria when she entered. "I should not have taken Aka down with me," the bed resting woman spoke, her eyes looking out across the lapping waves. For a long while, Aria could not speak. She too should not have let Hoshi-san go. The squad should have stayed together instead of trying to cover the whole area, but by splitting up, they may have contained a bigger disaster. "I think I will take some time off, to tend to our health. Hopefully Sypher will understand, but I will come by the offices every now and then to say hello. In a year, I may be able to rejoin in a lesser capacity." Aria nodded in understanding towards her Aunt's wishes, and then broke her usually reserved demeanor to approach and give a hug. Clasping her hands around the pale woman, she butted her cheek right up against Mi's shoulder. The day was long, and the Mizukage could wait while the family healed. (to the offices, soon)

The Anbu moved silently and swiftly with the groups of villagers, helping the young and elderly into the underground evacuation routes of Kirigakure. It would take them out into the world without notice of any within or without unless the Anbu chose so. Children cried quietly into the their parent's stunned arms as the masses moved until there was an empty silence in the area. As one, the Anbu moved back into the area and created false illusions of people, of walking souls doing their usual. Close inspection would destroy the illusion but for now...it would do.
It was dark for the longest time, nothing existed. Aka wondered aimlessly for what seemed like millenia through the void. No thoughts crossed her mind and she felt nothing, but yet she was somehow conscious? She didn't think hard on it, she couldn't even if she wanted to. She seemed to not exist but exist all the same, and no words could come to mind to describe what she was feeling in this absolute nothingness. Then suddenly there was something; she felt cold. It had been the first sensation she felt since her sudden existence. Once she felt the cold, then she felt the pressure of cool metal on her back. She strained, but she was unable to open her eyes; it felt as if they were frozen shut... But there was something else. The world was trembling, shaking. There was the sound of screaming would and cracking concrete; but before she could figure out what was happening, her consciousness faded once more in to nothingness.
There was a great man standing in front of her, almost everything but his eyes and his hair were black. His eyes were a burning blue, and his long hair draped around him on the ground, surrounding him in snow white locks. A stitch ran across his face, and all over his bare skin were glowing cyan writing. Kanji, she recalled, but she didn't know how she knew that. She wasn't sure what the words said or what they meant, but they seemed to be binding the man to where he stood in the nothingness. The kanji pulsed with a beat... was it a heartbeat...? She felt it pounding with her own heart, but since when did her heart pound? Since when did she even know what a heart was? The male in front of her opened his mouth, full rows of sharp teeth now exposed. He spoke, but she couldn't understand the words. Then suddenly she did. "Welcome back to life, child... Do not abuse this gift I have given you...."
From then on, consciousness was only a thing she glipsed sometimes; time seemed to tangle around her. One time when she opened her eyes, there was no longer a ceiling but the sky, if it could even be a sky. Further on, when she would glimpse consciousness, she felt roots tangled around her, and she felt almost safe in their grasp. Whatever's roots were now entwined around her body, she knew it meant no ill will towards her. Other times, when she would open her now thawed eyes, she would see strange creatures surrounding her, looking at her with confused eyes. She wanted to tell them to get away, that she didn't want them here, but she couldn't figure out how to speak... She never stayed conscious for long, her body was still healing, but from what?
Anyone who would wander anywhere close to the hospital would see a surrounding of creatures, looking carefully over the person safely on a metal examination table. Akarui was still dressed in a somewhat tattered hospital gown, but now the roots of the many trees from the Sero seal had began to intertwine her in to their constructs. It would take a little work to get her out, but it wouldn't take too long. Her hair, which was once a bright green was now a snow white, and her eyes once opened would be a blood red. Her skin was deathly pale, and it would seem almost as if she was dead in till someone looked closely enough to see her shallow breathing. Somehow, Akarui Hoshi had come back from the dead.

-----тhe creatures led me clear through the village to the hospital, but on the journey there, I could see the full extent of the damage to the village. Most of it was completely unrecognizable, the only thing telling me where exactly I was being my photographic memory. Even then it was hard to put a picture to the scenery. Literally the entire village had been terraformed by Sero. Or, at least, that's what the seals seemed to connect to. How had something like that gone so completely out of control? -----Then again, there were types of chakra that didn't mesh well. I didn't really have full control of myself either so long as Saiken was present. -----Ducking behind a tree, I watched the creatures I was following approach another group of them. Why were they gathering? They didn't seem to have any sort of intelligence, so why would they gather? It was then that something occurred to me. I'd come from the wrong direction to have arrived from the gates. If this was the remains of the hospital, then... the gates were in the complete opposite direction. So then where...? I turned my gaze back the way I'd come, and caught a glimpse of white out of the corner of my eye. My attention quickly returned to the hoard of monsters. And just as I'd thought, I could see something almost glowing from sheer white between them. I slipped out from behind the tree and moved forward again. -----I held my breath as I crept forward, only releasing it when I reached the safety of another tree. I had a much better view now, and from my vantage point, I could see that the creatures were hovering around what looked to be a girl, half lying in a puddle of sludge. Her hair was white as snow where it wasn't stained by the filth, and her skin was almost as pale, giving her a sort of iridescence in the twilit darkness. But they didn't seem to be attacking her. Still... if she was a survivor in this disaster, I had to get her out. Breathing lightly, I pulled my scroll from my bag and unrolled it just enough to reach the seal for the one puppet I still had with me: Kasai. Once I activated the seal, I'd have to move fast, because attention would be drawn instantly. -----Pumping a small burst of chakra into the seal, I summoned Kasai and immediately attacked strings to it. Hopping onto the tiger's back, we rushed forward even as the creatures began turning our way. Barreling through them, I leaped from Kasai's back, skidding to a stop beside. Samajii's shield would have been incredibly useful right then. Why did I leave it behind? Instead, I yanked my sketchbook from my bag and summon two things. The first was an ink shield to protect me from a direct attack. The second was the technique my clan was famous for: Choujuu Giga. From the page sprung several ink creatures that looked something like wolves, but out of a nightmare. At the time it must have been the only thing I could think of. The wolves attacked, striking at the twisted monsters enough to ward them off while I figured out how to get the girl onto my puppet's back. She was both taller and heavier than I was, but I managed to maneuver her enough to drape her across Kasai while I climbed on myself. -----And I ran for my life.
Minowa skidded to a stop on one of the heavier branches of the trees around them. Itoko followed up behind him and they both watched the hospital carefully. It was usually guarded, the mutants kept at bay by a creature Min wasn't familiar with. There were, however, people holed up in the top most part of the hospital. Min usually stayed away from both and dropped to the ground, racing across the open area to jump through a window. The hospital was the only place to get clean water in the village now and occasionally he stole some of the food. Landing silently, he caught Itoko before he hit the ground "Set, search." he ordered and then took off, heading for the stairs.
Sliding down a fallen beam and into the abandoned part of the hospital, Minowa landed on the balls of his feet. Going into a crouch, he held still for a long time, waiting for the possible inevitability of an attack. Rising to stand after a long wait, he started to move through the area, ducking under the fallen ceiling and into a small lab. There were always water bottles stashed in the smaller labs under the hospitals less...active areas. Loosening the grip of his newest weapon, the strange thin sword, he slammed the point into the side of the rusted container the bottles were stored in. Heaving, the rusted door cracked easily under the pressure and Minowa ripped the door off the rest of the way. Emptying the contents, Minowa straightened and came face to face with a pulsing mushroom, its bulbous head pointed directly above his own. More, he realized in horror, filled the rest of the ceiling but they appeared to be in hibernation. He knew about the mushroom infection that had taken the life of his Mi-san but he'd assumed they were long dead or wiped out by now. Perhaps the poisoned waters from the sea rush had reactivated them...regardless, he didn't want them to go off. Stepping back carefully, Minowa ducked under a bit of ceiling and turned to find another mushroom starting to push its way through a crack. He froze, his eyes locking on the thing as it shoved into the space. The floor was bucked up right below the mushrooms protrusion and to get through it...Minowa took a deep breath and grabbed his bag, sliding it off carefully, then shoved the bag under the mushroom. Getting down as low as he could, he slid under the mushroom as it swelled, twisting his feet at the last minute to keep from touching it. Letting out a sigh of relief, he grabbed his bag and took off, putting a hand on one of the beams as he did. The motion jerked it free and he slipped, letting out a surprise scream, falling as the entire area shook. Behind him, the mushrooms exploded and he scrambled to pull his cloak up over his face, the spoors rushing through the air towards him. Sprinting for his life now, Minowa raced up the fallen beam, scrambling for the relative safety of the upper levels.

-----A voice crying out in fear, in pain, had brought Jack towards this forsaken place. That cry, however, was shortly drowned out upon arrival by a cascade of debris somewhere down below, large enough to send clouds of dust and rock up into the air in a plume. That was not his concern, however, for he still felt the life force of that he sought. Instead he waited, cane in hand digging into the earth, as he waited for either enemies, or allies, to appear.

"I Must Drag Truth Kicking and Screaming into the Light"
Itoko made concerned noises, a high pitched cry that echoed in lower part of the hospital. He could hear all the sound and had heard Min's cry but, per his friend's order, he remained at the hatch. Leaning in, though, he made a growling screech into the space, calling for Minowa to come back. And, almost instantly, Minowa exploded out of the hole and grabbed Itoko as he went, an arm around the binturong's bulk dragging it back. Stumbling, Itoko gripped the back of Min's cloak and drug himself onto the boy's shoulders as Min ran, sprinting for a window. It was going to be noisy but at least it would get him away from the mushroom cloud that was slowly filling the lower floor. Pulling his cloak around himself, Min went feet first through the window and shattered it easily, landing outside and on his feet. Ready to sprint, Minowa stumbled abruptly at the sight of a strange figure. There aren't any humans left in this place. was his first thought. His second was that he knew this weird figure and then his third was that he was hallucinating. The mushrooms had already gotten to him, then, because there was no way Jack Snipe was here in Kirigakure. And yet... Min stiffened his stance, hands going to the weapon he'd taken, drawing the blade with a glare. Itoko hissed and raised himself higher on Min's shoulders, drawing the hood off slightly to show the blonde hair and blue eyes. His tail curled heavily around Min's chest and he fluffed himself up, his fur bristling.

-----[ F ]or what it was worth, it seemed that Jack would not have to wait long to see someone burst from one of the main floor windows and roll across the ground, breaking for all they were worth to come to a stop. As the small figure rose to its height, the stance somewhat unstable from what must have been a rather intense ordeal, they froze in place and raised their gaze. Their eyes locked for a moment, and instantly Jack was struck with the impression that something was...wrong. There was a lack of understanding, confusion, and not a small bit of panic within that expression, and deep down...loss, black as pitch, screeching out from the boy with startling intensity. It was as if something inside of him had snapped, fundamentally changing him from what he used to be. The latter forced him to ignore the knife at first, as well as the hissing badger-cat upon his shoulder, though only for a moment. Eyes glinting as his eyes scanned over his figure, Jack couldn't control his eyes widening a fraction. Given the boy's cursed birth as one of the oddest experiences Jack had ever witnessed, this was a close second, for he had aged rapidly. The same thing had once occurred to Jack, yet to see it in another? It fascinated him.
-----The knife, and the hissing animal, came next on the list of noticeable things. Brandished weaponry didn't worry him as much as it perhaps should have, yet in this case his concern was more for the fact that it meant Minowa either did not recognize him, or believed him one of the monsters here. Instead of speaking cautious words, giving empty, though sincere, promises of safety and compassion, Jack leaned a bit more to his right onto the cane, taking a more relaxed stance. The boy might not remember the change to his eyes, and the muck that covered so much of his clothes did not help his case at all of promising to not be one of the enemy. So, instead, he chose an altogether risky approach: honesty, and dismissal. "Good evening, Minowa. I had hoped to find you alive and well after your father's absence. Inka is outside, waiting for you, and I am certain he would appreciate your livelihood." Ease, an average day discussing average things. Gesturing to the sky with his free hand, he circumferenced the sky with what appeared to be a leisurely grace. "I imagine twilit skies are not the most appealing of sceneries to find when you exit the hospital?"

To say Minowa had a reaction to Jack's was an understatement. He went on the offensive, crouching down sharply and thrusting the sword forward. He didn't have a clue how to really use it but the idea of the pointy end first was firmly placed in his mind and he didn't reply to Jack. Itoko raised himself up even higher on Min's shoulders, puffing out like a massive black cloud "..." he moved around Jack warily, keeping a far distance from him as if he was trying to get away but still wanted to be close. The mention of his father hurt and it showed in his eyes, a sudden dampening of his brilliant blue irises. Even worse was the mention of Inka, the man who was his father as much as Sypher was. Watching Jack warily now, hesitating to move at this point as he slowly let the sword drop to the dirt "....used to it...." he said tentatively, his voice strangely pitched as if he didn't know how to use it yet. Behind him, the broken window remained empty of the spoors, indicating the hospitals air system was still operational and dealing with the mushroom parasite.

Clearly the memory was fresh and real to him of their separation, despite what appeared to be a rapid aging of the child. Worse, the child seemed unable to trust him, perhaps due to the nature of the odd world they found themselves in. Looking ever the kindly gentleman, Jack's eyes followed the young boy moved, dropping the blade tentatively and with what appeared to be his companion staring him down. He had no doubt he could take the two from here, yet trust was crucial lest this become a lasting scar upon the child's psyche. To be a permanent fixture in the mindscape of a child was not his desire now nor ever. Casting his gaze towards the darkness beyond he considered what the child could have been running from, and found himself hoping that it was simply not another of the villagers. Releasing his cane, the wooden stick simply refusing to do anything but remain absolutely still, Jack clasped hands behind his back to avoid any sort of conflict, hoping that a similar action to the one that Minowa himself had taken would calm the child.

Once before the UHV had enacted a time-altering event, something that he, unfortunately, had no ability to detect. How long had he been here? Minowa tilted his head sharply to the left, a shadow of Sypher's own reactions behind the movement, and frowned. His blue eyes were so brilliant that when the frown crinkled them, it was like they gained another level of bright blue in response to the shadow his hair cast. Itoko crawled down his side, landing on the ground with heavy paws that held knife like claws, less puffy than before and more wary as he scouted with his nose, the wet black smudge twitching. "...two...?" Minowa said hesitantly, holding up both hands, one open to show all five fingers, the other only two fingers as he held the sword. He had lost track of time from when the black wall had fallen but he assumed that it had been at least two weeks, maybe three, since then. Minowa jerked his free hand at the drying edges of the black muck that still hung around the area. It wasn't as thick as here as the rest of the area, some of it looking like it had been singed "Ate...accident." he said, appearing the struggle with the words. He hadn't had anyone to actually speak to in a long time... "Get..." he frowned, trying to figure out how to explain. He rocked back on his heels, Minowa's expression frowning and concentrated as he lifted one hand. As he did, his hood fell all the way off and the full extent of his growth was shown. He looked like he had aged almost 8yrs, going from a child to a teenager in appearance "bigger." he finished finally, dropping his hand. As he did, there was a slight shifting just behind Jack of something large moving away from them. Itoko hissed violently and Minowa dropped into a defensive crouch, sword coming up sharply "Like them!" he snapped, clearly expecting one of the mutants to attack.

-----[ T ]he tilting of the head more than anything convinced Jack that this was no mere clone but the true child of the former Mizukage. Simply put, the mimicry of such mannerisms only came from long exposure to an action or reaction, thus giving a more permanent indention within a person's psyche and thus forming a habit. It ensured, then, that when the boy held up his fingers to answer the only way he knew how the older male immediately believed him. Antennae, invisible to the naked eye, reached outward from the skin of his neck and tasted the air, keeping track of the hormones being unleashed. Anger, fear, and several other emotions roiled like a cauldron beneath the child's brilliant blue gaze, telling him that he was as new to this form as Jack himself was. This explained why they reacted to him, both him and his pet, for he was a source of familiarity that the child craved nearly as much as his family. Seeing him moving closer, his animal companion taking on a more curious body language as opposed to the aggression, Jack almost missed the sudden expansion of his visible features. Shock rippled through him, though not enough to make his expression change as he realized that somehow Minowa had gone through the same process Jack himself had as a child. How, and why, he wondered as he heard the sharp inhalation of breath.
-----Without any seeming concern Jack placed his hands within the pockets of his much warn-down garb and rotated with grace. He would put no worry here upon his face, no matter waht it was that he saw, for mentally he was prepared to do whatever it took to save Minowa. If he had to fight off mutations of family and friends, he would do so. If he had to face down an entire village worth of dessicated and repugnant remains, he would do so. If he had to fracture the walls and obliterate them from existence, he would do so. He owed Sypher much in his life, and for the former Mizukage, whose family lay shielded behind his pitiful excuse of a body, he would tear reality asunder to save his progeny.

-----[ B ]efore the trio stood what looked to be the very creature that had led the Mizukage here, though with reinforcements. The crackling of wooden limbs shifting as multiple feet and faces turned to him echoed within the silence of this twilit world, casting a disorienting effect that matched the off colored hue of their eyes. Staring in silence they challenged him to make the first move, the faces and wooden forms becoming a blur. And yet Jack held still, considering, hands relaxed and at ease within his coat pockets as he observed his supposed enemies, emerald eyes hooded and framed by damp locks of hair. What was he to do in this matter, when killing them would be murder? Saving them was not a foregone impossibility, and so perhaps saving them, putting them to sleep, would be better? The moral dilemma was an intense one that he refused to address at this time, not when the 'enemy' so surely wanted to remain still.
-----And them came the crashing.
-----He could feel the pulse of the falling seal, Sero's power vanishing from the world. Instantly the creatures before them fell to the ground screaming, their flesh melting from their bodies, the wood sprouting out of control and shattering everything. within and without their forms. And around them, in the distance, beneath their feet and from the darkness of the hospital would come the burbling of water as it rose everywhere. Drowning his feet instantly. Without thought he knew it was done, and when the sky shattered? It was time to leave. His body changed, altering, becoming a giant bird of darkness and lashed out with tendrils, snagging two of the beasts alongside Minowa before taking to the skies. A screech shook the water and shattered more of the wall as he headed outwards, flying over the wall, his form monstrous to those below.
