Lilith Cosette Petran
The Red Queen

Lilith was still processing the recent whirlwind of events as she began eating on her half gone banana nut muffin. Was it just her, or was Cam acting odd at the moment? Well, more odd than usual. He had actually caught her hand and twirled her to him, like in some romance movie or something, before kissing her nose.

She could understand him with the romantic stuff. After all, he believed in love blindly. However, it was the kiss that got her. He had kissed her on the forehead and her cheek last night. Now, this morning, he had kissed her on the nose. What was next? He'd kiss her on the lips?

At that thought, a feeling disrupted her from the pit of her stomach. It was so odd and out of the ordinary that Lil actually looked down at it. She raised an eyebrow and ruled it off quickly as her stomach not wanting more food. So, to remedy that, she opened her milk and took a drink. Once she was done, she sat the bottle down gingerly and looked at it, a bit bored.

However, that changed quickly. So quickly, in fact, that Lil actually knocked over the milk container. She turned her head to look at the sudden disturbance, Cam, of course. She rolled her eyes at him. "What face? Oh well... " She trailed off, referring to her spilt milk. " You're a cat...cats love milk...no point in wasting it...drink away! " No use in crying over it, so instead, she laughed.

After a bit of laughter, Lil got up and got some paper towels that were in a cabinet in the back of the classroom. Even though it was Cam's fault for surprising her, she'd clean it up. It was her milk, she really didn't expect Cam to lick it up. That would have been gross .

Pol stood in the dead center of dweeby Ryan's dreadfully plain room as he scrounged though his surprisingly vast wardrobe and pulled out carefully folded pieces of fabric. The redhead asked his preference in shirt style and the kid didn't know... Um, both? He Made a little move, took a seat on the bed and watched as Ryan continued to take out clothing for him.

"I don't really have a preference, but, thanks... You don't have to do this Ryan."

Ryan pulled out a few really nice shirts and Pol felt a bit guilty that he might try and give them to him. Of course The kid would take them, he had almost nothing to wear, but it was still weird to take clothes from people he hardly knew. Ryan in particular seemed like someone who he shouldn't bother. The redhead was odd, brilliant, but still... not quite right. Pan watched the stack of hand-me-downs grow taller and soon expand into two stacks before he had to stop the guy.

"Thanks Ryan, These all look Awesome... I don't know what to say, but class starts soon and I don't want you to be late, Thanks."

Pol took the stacks of clothing and easily carried them down the hall and back to his own room where he changed into one of Ryan's T-shirts. It was green with a Mario joke on the front, very clever considering his situation. The child grabbed his IPod and sped down to the gym for the first class of his day. He wouldn't get yelled at today...

His nimble fingers inserted the white ear-buds into his ears and soon the sound of modest mouse filled his little head. The gym was empty when Pan arrived and he was glad for that. The boy dropped his shoes and took three running steps onto the mat before leaping into a a little flip. He landed on his hands and pushed off the ground continuing his spin and landing on his feet. It was a nice maneuver to warm up his muscles and get his blood flowing.

Peter plopped down onto the mat and spread his legs apart as far as he could, surprisingly far. He reached for his foot and stretched his body to one side, then the other. Another song flowed from the ear-buds and Pan got up ready to start the real work.

Ryan watched as the boy named Peter left and hoped that they would would become better friends; He was an interesting little man. The ginger pulled on sky blue hooded sweatshirt and grabbed his morning book bag, he didn't want to miss any of his classes after all. After the short walk to his first period room he found that the class was represented by only two other students at the moment, and the teacher had yet to arrive. One of the student he knew to be Lilith C. Petran. The C stood for Cosette, her role was that of the red queen from Alice in Wonderland. Her character was commonly mistaken for the queen of hearts, a mistake Ryan would never make. The girl was somewhat of an enigma to him. They had never really socialized, but he knew she was bright. The other student was also a wonderland character. Commonly known as Cam, but full name, Cameron Riley Jones. The boy played the part of the Cheshire cat. A fitting role from what Ryan had observed the lad had the power to turn himself invisible... Something Ryan wished he could do half the time.

The god gave a little smile to the two from the doorway and moved carefully to put his book bag on one of the desks near the front before he walked up to the empty teachers desk and took a look at the hour's lesson plan. It was a bad habit, and he knew it... But he had to know if he needed to pay attention this hour or not. Turns out Not. After a quick skim of the page he found that they would not be covering anything he didn't already know from his independent study.

After placing the lesson notes back exactly where he found then Ryan strode over to his bag and picked it up to carry it over to a desk closer to the other two students, he would like to hear their conversation at least if he couldn't join in himself.

Lilith seemed like a smart girl, he wanted to know what she had to say. If she had anything to say at all, at the moment she seemed preoccupied cleaning up split milk. It was probably the glasses that made her look smart, they were a very fitting pair and the haircut was that of someone who sot out comfort and ease rather then fashion.

Cameron subdued the laugh that threatened to flood from his lips again, snorting instead to signify his amusement. Lilith really was quite clumsy, there was no doubt of that, and she would definitely need to fine-tune her defense mechanisms when taken by surprise, for her milk's – and any other beverage that may have the misfortune of being knocked over due to her spazz attacks, for that matter – sake. She had been doing well with handling herself up until recently it seemed, her usual indifferent composure being more prone to slipping as of late.

His lips quirked upwards and his eyebrow arched when she inquired as to exactly what face she was making. She was joking...right? His train of thought trailed off as he scrutinized her, studying her expression carefully, coming to the conclusion that she was, indeed, unaware of any involuntary faces she may have been making.

That meant that the fall of her face was genuine, and she was completely oblivious to it until he'd brought it up - which meant that, perhaps, Lilith subconsciously didn't want him to leave. The very proposition of such an impossible feat stirred a smug satisfaction from the part of him that had long ago accepted his feelings despite his denial; the other part of him, however, was far more skeptical on the issue. It brought up the major faults regarding the matter, like the fact that she didn't believe in love, not to mention that she was of the hierarchy league. And what was he? He was nothing more than a flea bitten house cat.

However, he fancied that the more confident part of himself often knew what it was talking about, so he wouldn't let the pessimistic viewpoint of the other deter him. He would allow himself to feel a bit of hope; though, by bit, he meant near microscopic and on the verge of nonexistence. But just a bit. He was bound to be his own downfall as it was, he wasn't going to assist in speeding up that process any further just because there was a chance (that he could have made up from his own speculation, no less) that she may have felt the same as he did.

Cam sighed in irritation upon the realization that he'd spaced out for the umpteenth time today, casting a glance towards Lilith's direction as he failed to come up with a sensible retort, his gaze returning towards the spilled milk. He wrinkled his nose in distaste, but grinned despite himself. “Oh, but I'd much rather lick milk off of you than the desk, attractive as it is...” he commented in as innocent a manner as he could muster, the wicked smirk he wore contradicting his tone. He was vaguely aware of Ryan's presence, the god having taken a seat nearby. Well, this was embarrassing...for her, perhaps.

Cameron turned to face him with a grin. “Morning, Ryan!” he greeted shamelessly. He would have done so sooner, but it would have been rude to not respond to Lilith first, as Ryan had been the one to walk in in the middle of their conversation, after all.

Lilith had ignored his initial reaction to her clumsiness. It was usual of her, so she had gotten quite used to his laughs or snorts or scoffs whenever she klutz'd out. So, she returned with enough paper towels to clean up her mess. That was when she noticed that there was another person in the classroom. If she was right, which she had no doubt that she was, it was Ryan.

Ryan was Apollo, and also a senior. It was odd to be in a class with such an upperclassman. However, she had learned early on that he loved learning, so he took as many classes as he could. Hence being stuck with a sophomore. No big deal really. The two never really talked. That was mainly due to both of their natures. They were both quiet individuals. Hence the reason why she didn't have a issue with him.

Lil had begun mopping up her mess when she caught Cam's comment. She froze for a moment. Then, her face turned red. Really Cam, really? Of course he'd say something like that. Especially when there was someone else around. The very thought of him licking anything off of her caused that feeling in the pit of her stomach to resurface. Obviously from repulsion, right? Right?! What else could it be?

She resumed cleaning up the milk after her pause. Before long, it was all up and she went to throw the paper towels away. When she came back to her seat, she faced Cam. "You need to leave...Now....don't want to be late to class, right?" She stated, using class as an excuse to get him to scurry on his way. She'd had enough of him embarrassing her for the day, and it had just started!

Though, Lil knew that wouldn't matter to him. Nope, not at all. He'd pester her until she went to bed that evening. Every opportunity he would take. If he didn't, she supposed her day would be quite peaceful. Too peaceful, really. Still, it could get quite annoying. So, to be ensured that she'd be spared for awhile, she stood there with her hands on her hips looking at him. She was waiting for his objection, for she knew it would come. But, he would have to leave eventually.

Cameron rolled his eyes as Lilith took a defensive stance, her cheeks stained red from embarrassment. As if he were actually worried about getting to class on time. He could be as late as he damn well pleased; it wasn't like his teachers would send him to the office if he ambled in a few minutes late.

They had given up that game once it dawned upon them that there was no way they would be able to win, mostly due to Cam being able to effortlessly charm his way out of any unfortunate predicaments he may get himself into. So, they'd given up the notion of punishing him, instead determining that it would just be best that he get as much class time as possible, meaning that he didn't need to come up with any overly complex excuses in regards to why he was late so he couldn't waste any more time.

However, his first class of the day was drama, and he needn't blow off Andee twice in one morning in favor of hanging out with Lilith. It was decidedly more painful irking the blonde than the brunette, seeing as how Andee had no problem in making her annoyance known, and her retaliations were even less pleasant than Lilith's. Tragic as it was, he would indeed have to get to class and face the tiny girl's wrath. His smirk faltered slightly in his dread; for once, he wasn't looking forward to seeing his favorite girl in his favorite class.

Despite the sudden onslaught of anxiety, he perked up, his grin returning with a vengeance. “I'll leave if you give me a kiss,” he offered in a sing-song tone, “...on the lips.” he added with a cocky smirk; he knew she would go through with the alternative of pecking him on the cheek or something of the sort if he hadn't specified. He didn't much care for being the one whom was outwitted.

He was going to leave regardless of if she actually complied or not, as he was not very keen on having Tink chew him out and guilt trip him with something along the lines of 'I'm supposed to be your best friend, not her!' No, it would be much simpler to avoid the situation altogether.

But Lilith didn't need to be made aware of that. He looked up at the clock hanging on the wall before fixing his gaze on her expectantly, tapping his fingers against his cheek as he did so, waiting for her refusal so he could leave.

He knew she'd had enough of him for the day already, but she was just s**t out of luck because it had only started. He would gladly warrant her a Cameron-free class period, but there were no promises that he would allow her more than that.

Lilith sighed as the cat rolled his eyes. Of course he couldn't take her seriously. Plus, she had realized that he was often late to class. So, her little statement wouldn't do much to him. He'd probably stay just past the bell to irk her. Not like class was starting immediately, though. No, they still had a good amount of time before the bell rang.

However, his class was in the theatre. It wasn't the closest of classes. No, it was a good five minute walk from their current location. Longer if there was traffic. Lil figured Andee would be better company for him than her anyways. The both of them just fit so well together. Thinking on that fact actually helped to keep her face red. She couldn't figure out why. Not like Cam being with Andee would be a surprise to her.

Now, another odd feeling arose in her. Seriously, something was wrong. She didn't like the thought of Andee and Cam being together. Good thing she'd already been told by Cam that he views her as a little sister. That seemed to ease the odd feeling. Was there something off? It began to worry Lil. First the stomach, now this?

Although, the Queen didn't have much time to think on it. No, she was quickly distracted by Cam's statement. He'd leave if she gave him a kiss? That would be easy, right? OH, snap. He added on his lips in there. For a second she figured she'd get away with the cheek or something. The adding of specifics showed that he knew her well enough to know she'd dodge around things if they weren't phrased just right. Semantics were wonderful sometimes.

She looked at him critically for a moment, trying to decide if he was bluffing. Then, another second later, she realized that it didn't matter. If she did kiss him, he'd have to leave. That simple fact on its own made up her mind. Lilith reached a hand out and lifted his chin up to look at him for a moment before she leaned over and placed her lips softly on his.

Cameron's tapping became a bit more impatient as he watched Lilith's face continue to flush even further. He brushed it off as her embarrassment increasing, especially since they now had an audience. She was probably cursing his audacity to flirt so openly with her, which he couldn't blame her for - he was rather bold, almost painfully so in her case.

Cameron's eyes widened as she took his face in her hand, tilting his chin up. His breathing hitched for a moment, having been caught off guard by the kiss, his mind suddenly going blank, trying to grasp exactly what she was doing. He didn't actually think for even a moment that she would do it, especially after he'd specified his side of the agreement.

He finally came around, blinking to ward off the abrupt dizziness he felt, her lips still covering his. Surely it had been more than a few seconds...so why hadn't she pulled away yet? He decided to take advantage of her failure to do such, kissing her back with a smirk. As if that wasn't enough to send her reeling, he dared to flick his tongue out and lick her bottom lip, pulling away with a bright, unabashed grin. He rose from his seat with an air of smugness about him, making his way towards the doorway.

“Bye, Ryan,” he called with a wave towards the redhead, glancing back at Lilith with a sly smirk. “Later, Lili,” he purred with a wink. With that, he took his leave, refraining from letting out an excited cry of triumph as he walked out the door – that would be far too obvious, not to mention utterly out of character. That was more so a stunt that Andee would pull, not him; she was rubbing off on him more than he'd like to admit.

No, he'd play it cool, letting the smirk plastered across his lips do all the talking for him. He idly noted that the part of him that was convinced that his feelings for her were mutual was blatantly rubbing his latest achievement in the others' face, laughing at its expense.

The side of him that refused to believe such utter idiocy, however, made a point that put a damper on his parade: she only did it to get rid of him. She didn't want him there. He could drop dead for all she cared.

However, the other part of him snickered at that proposal; if she really wanted him to go, she would have pulled away immediately, she wouldn't have let it drag on for as long as she did. The other side was full of s**t – if he dropped dead, she'd help Andee with the funeral.

Well, maybe that wasn't true, but she would care, of that there was no doubt. He snorted to himself; perhaps that part of him that was always trying to bring him down really was full of s**t. He shoved his hands in his pockets and continued on his trek towards the theater, smiling absently as he did so.

Lilith had noted that his eyes had widened as she lifted his chin up. Hah. He actually thought she wouldn't do it. Lil liked to prove people wrong in all aspects. Hence, him being shocked was a bonus for her. However, that fact was gone from her mind when her lips touched his.

That feeling in her stomach came back again. This time, it was full force. Lil knew she couldn't blame it on food this time. No, she vaguely remembered that feeling. She'd done her damnest to repress it and ignore it and extinguish it from her being since she was twelve. However, she never remembered it being so intense.

She blushed, naturally. Lilith couldn't fight it at the moment. Not while she was kissing him. It was no use. A moment later, Cam kissed her back, causing something to lift inside her. She could tell that he was smirking, but she didn't really care. It was all she could do to refrain from wrapping her arms around his neck and entwining a hand in that mop of hair he had.

No, she managed to prevent herself from doing that. However, when he licked her bottom lip, she nearly failed. If she had failed, Lil most likely wouldn't have cared. It would have been worth it. However, before she could do anything, Cam pulled away, and she sighed ever so quietly.

Lilith was a bit too stunned with herself to even manage to say anything to him before he left in a rush. Once he was gone, the heat left her cheeks rather quickly, and her mask was back up. No, that was stupid. Lil couldn't allow herself to slip like that. She had done too well over the past four years to let it go just like that. One would think she was mad.

Wasn't she? The part of her that knew what love was had finally escaped from the dungeon she had cast it in and it was quite smug. However, the logical part of her was trying to catch it and throw it back whence it came. Fighting tooth and nail if need be. Yes, there was quite a battle being waged within her, and Lilith didn't like it one bit.

So, blocking out the inner turmoil for a moment, she sat herself back down in her seat and placed an elbow on her desk. Without hesitation, her head came down to rest in the propped up hand, and she tried to refrain from giving into the urge to do a headdesk.

Oh... Well... Umm... This was an awkward moment for the redhead. People didn't normally just kiss there right next to him, especially for so long... Not that he was judging! No, Ryan didn't judge the two for sharing a kiss, he would have done it too if he had the chance... Not that he wanted to kiss Cam! Well. Cam was cute after all, but and well... Ryan's blush spread across his pale skepticaled face and he could feel his ears burning red.

"B-bye Cam."

He said giving the boy a little wave. He knew he looked ridiculous, and Cam probably knew why too. Lilith knew for sure. Why did he have to be so gosh darned awkward about this kind of thing? The ginger took a deep breath and turned to face Lill straight on.

"So... Cam? I'm not judging, I just want to know. He's cute."

Ryan cracked a smile and leaned forward a bit hoping to get a positive reaction out of the queen... OH! But what if she thought he was trying to make a move on Cam?! NO! Ryan opened his mouth the panic of his words clear, but he didn't know what to say to right himself.

"I mean! Ah.. Cam and you would be cute, I don't want to... He's not- Ohmygodthisisembarassing..."

Ryan put a hand up to cover the left half of his face and closed his eyes. He hoped Lilith would understand but of course it would be his luck that she wouldn't.. She would think him stupid and useless and gay. He was only two of those three things and he knew it. But she wouldn't.

"Sorry. It's early."

The god shook his head a little and opened his eyes to look at the girl.

Lilith was brought out of her mental warring by a voice nearby. She turned and removed her hand from her face to look at Ryan. Now, it might not have been really nice of her, but in the whirlwind of events, she kind of had forgotten he was there. Not completely, but he was quiet, and it was appreciated.

Lil looked at him curiously as he spoke. Did he actually think that she and Cam were together? s**t! She didn't need the whole school thinking that. No, then people would start guessing when she'd break his heart. Lilith didn't want to do that by any means. No matter how irritating Cam could be, she wouldn't want to hurt him like that.

She shook her head quickly. "No...we aren't together....He just makes it his daily goal to irritate the crap out of me in various ways..." She stated, explaining for the Greek god. She resisted the urge to narrow her eyes at him at the cute statement. It was that feeling from earlier again, and she knew it was a pang of jealousy mixed with possessiveness.

Her eyes widened a bit at the statement that said that her and Cam would be cute together. Lil's cheeks faintly flushed red. She had to make herself focus on him rather than think on that idea. If she thought on that concept, she'd slip even further into that nice gaping hole she had dug for herself.

No, Lil wanted to get out of that hole and fill it up for good. Or, at least she thought she did. "It's alright, Ryan....Though, I must agree....it is early..." That brought to mind the late night she had had, and she repressed a yawn. Yup, today was going to be a long day indeed. Lilith was just glad for the fact that Ryan was clearly just as socially awkward as she was at times.

"How does making out with you irritate you?... Or was that you irritating him? Because his lips looked pretty soft and nice, not really annoying or chapped or anything... And if you're not together why are you so close? I'm not making out with anyone who I'm not dating.... But then again if I did get the chance I guess I would to."

Ryan bite his bottom lip in thought... Would he? If Cam came up to him and offered? Of course he would. The boy was adorable and so damn handsome. He would kiss him and do much more if he got the chance... But he was no player, no succubus... No, Ryan was just a nerd with dreams of grandeur. No one wanted to kiss him on the lips or hug him close. He was kidding himself to even think like someone might.

"And I'm not really dating anyone... I think I make people nervous or something."

He shrugged a hint of tragedy wafting over his face. Ryan had been feeling the Pang of not having anyone more then normal of late, it was like his body had suddenly found a new need... a need for intimacy and closeness. An odd feeling the scared his true self some.

" Back to Cam though... You kissed him why? If he irritates you then why give him any attention at all? If you just ignore him he'll go away sooner or later. He'll bother someone else."

Ryan gave a little smile and looked down at his hand. No one was kissing him. He felt that cold helpless, drowning feeling that overcame him every now and then and a shiver ran up his spine. It was anxiety and he hated it. Why did it always have to control everything? Ryan counted his breathing in his head making sure to keep it even... He would NOT have an attack here... not now...

Lilith had been trying to ignore the details of her kiss with Cam. Thinking on them only made that lovesick part of her more smug and more prominent. Ryan wasn't helping at all. No, he just had to point out the fact that Cam's lips looked nice and soft, which they were. Her face hardened. It was due to a combination of her trying to ignore what he had said and the fact that he had said it.

She must be going mad. Lil began taking deep breaths to help keep her head level. Now, she had to try and answer him in a calm tone. A challenge, really. She, too, bit her lip before responding. "Ryan, he didn't think I would do it, so I proved him wrong...Plain and simple as that..." She stated, which was initially true. Then, she went to address the next matter. "Cam makes it his goal in life to irritate me. Hence the reason why we're so 'close' as you choose to phrase it."

Then he went on some rant about how he wasn't dating anyone. Like Lil honestly cared at the moment. She had her own issues to deal with. And, she didn't know how others felt around him, but he was beginning to annoy her. From going to want to kiss him earlier for getting Pan from irritating her to this, she wasn't too sure if she could tolerate him after all. Hopefully he'd drop the issue.

Ah, no such luck. He decided to bring Cam back up again, which made her wince a tad. " I already told you I kissed him to prove him wrong...And...I tried to ignore him." It was true. Back when they first met, he had tried everything to get to her, and she had done quite well at ignoring him. However, about half way through the year, he had worn her down enough to get a smirk out of her, and from that point on, she couldn't get rid of him. Not even if she tried, for he knew he could get to her. "Cam is just the sort of person you can't ignore for long..."

As she walked down the hall and toward the cafeteria with the intent of getting something to eat, she could feel stares coming from some of the other students in varying degrees. Some of the stares were appreciating in nature. She was a good looking girl. She knew that, or at least thought that to some level. She never had a self-image problem when it came to something she did or wore. And it always showed by the way she talked to people, how she dressed and acted. Some were incredulous. In a place where costumes are the main staple of fashion, a good pair of jeans and t-shirt still ruled supreme. And she clearly either didn’t get the memo or she was a rebel that needed to be promptly ignored. But the best reaction would have to be the ones of jealousy. It was hilarious how their stares turned cold, carefully dissecting her outfit until they found something that they could declare unworthy. Those of this nature were easy to spot. Usually in groups of five or six, their heads turned carefully to one another as they half-heartedly tried to hide what they were saying with shielding hands. The effect was supposed to be hurtful. It was clear in the way they abruptly stopped talking as she drew near only to begin again as she passed. Though they couldn’t possibly know that she was well beyond any petty remark that they could ever make. And she showed it with a small cheerfully done wave and a smile.

---------------------------------

As soon as she entered the cafeteria she immediately scoped out her usual table to see whether it was clear. The window area was her favorite, and though she could possibly find another place to sit it just would not be the same. She liked being over there. Liked the cool breezes that trailed in when they opened the window on hotter days, the warm reflection of the sun. Her day just didn’t seem complete until she sat there at least once today. It was a part of her usual routine. Her hopes were broken however when she saw a small group already sitting there. She didn’t mind company of a sort, but meeting new people was always somewhat awkward. An experience in which she knew would cement whether they would continue talking to each other or not. And she just wasn’t sure if she wanted to go through that today. Maybe food would help. A full stomach always fortifies even the most weak-willed mind in the morning. A stronger brew as well. Tea just wouldn’t do it right now. A cup of coffee. That was a definite must.

Toast. Lovingly covered in both butter and orange marmalade. Rice stir fried with bell pepper, onion, and butter. And a side of bacon, crispy and without a drop of unnecessary grease. Next stop was her caffeine fix. The walk to the beverage area was small and the choices were many, but there was a something blocking her from her goal. A tall black male, his hair in long braids tied back from a strong and serious face. His expression was nearly stoic but the way he cradled the steaming foam cup told all. He didn’t even bother to put a hot top upon the foam container, it only seemed to get in his way. And his need for whatever was in the cup was great indeed. A smile twitched on her face at the scene. The guy was obviously a coffee fanatic.

“Good brew today?” The question was somewhat familiar tone and it obviously broke the guy’s deep contemplation. The only indication that it had done so being that of the darkening of his expression and the falling of his brows into a small frown. But this look did not deter her in the least, in fact she moved forward. Prompting him to look up from his cup.

Upon seeing her Marcel’s expression cleared somewhat. He knew her. The Nightingale. It wasn’t often that they talked because of class differences but when they did it was always somewhat civil, “It will do. For now.”

“What a glowing recommendation…” The tone of her voice was dry even as the corner of her lips twitched in general humor. Her hand still reaching for a cup in which to sample said brew. It was smaller in size than his own, a mere medium to his large, but the intent to get some of the caffeine was the same.

“With me? Isn’t it always?” He took a sip of his coffee and looked toward her again, wincing in sympathy as she loaded her own down with cream and sugar. She ignored the look even as she acknowledged it, “You should try it like this sometime. Maybe it will improve your opinion….and your mood.”

Looking at the stirring spoon in disdain as she added a bit more sugar on a small sampled sip Marcel remarked to the other again. His tone now colored with a bit of sarcasm, “ I like my mood. I’m just so charming, witty, intelligent, and…did I already charming? Because I’m that too, you know.”

“I believe you did. Somewhere around the middle, I think? But it never hurts to say it again.” Aquila said with a idle tone of her own, playing along with his off brand of humor. Something that she had gotten used to over time.

“Just my thoughts exactly.” Marcel responded with a small nod after he drank another fortifying sip from his cup and then took another. And with that the conversation ended on both ends. Aquila walking away to find a table, a cheerful goodbye crossing her lips and Marcel lifting a hand for the same as he went to find his own. The conversation its self not really strong enough to continue but obviously not one that would be unwanted it had.

----------------------------------------

She really wanted to sit at her usual table. But the small crowd….somehow it had grown since she had last saw it. And the noise. Awful. Where before the noise coming from the table had been the quiet talk of close friends sharing tales and secrets evenly. The ones that joined them were rambunctious and irritating. And from the looks of the people that were previously sitting there they thought the same. She definitely had made the right choice in getting coffee. She was going to need it if she decided to deal with….that.

"I know but... Never mind. Sorry."

Ryan put his hand up to his mouth and bit the back of his thumb, an old habit he did when he was thinking. It was kind of the the adult version of sucking one's thumb. The ginger could tell that he was getting on Lilith's nerves. Should he leave her alone? Or just change the subject? What did girls like Lil like to talk about... Eighteenth century poets? World war two? Deep sea expeditions? He had no clue. Um... Maybe if he complemented her she would talk about herself some? Girls liked to talk about themselves, and he was fond of listening.

"Those frames are very flattering for your face shape. And with that haircut you look very smart."

Ryan said this with a genuinely hopeful friendly tone. He did think they were nice, and he knew that she had chosen her hair style with great thought. It was just that kind of hair. He himself had spend hours agonizing about his own hair cut. Each time he never knew how short to go.

"You're a sophomore? Right?"

He knew she was but when you stated facts to someone about themselves they tended to get creeped out and cold. He had learned that pleasant tidbit freshman year when he was talking to a pretty girl in his chem class. She was a fairy god mother and a senior at the time. They were from different stories, the only way they would ever meet again is if she came back to teach like Ryan planed on doing. He wanted to come back to the Academy when he was finished with his story and start an accelerated program for those of greater intelligence.
