Zed sat for a moment, flicking sand around with his hands, he felt the ground shifting.
The sand started dissappearing from underneath him and down into a hollow space below the dune. As the sand fell away it left steep walls of falling sand, making it nearly impossible to scramble out of.
"KOKO! I THINK I BROKE THE DESERT!"
He scrambled up the side of the pit, but didn't get very far before he slipped back down again.

Syuzanna pulled away from the shadows. He had been following Thane for some time out of boredom. His before spazing arm was now hanging limp by his side as he had tightened two straps to kill the nerve. He walked forward putting a hand on Thane's whilst holding his PP-93. "Oi, how am I meant to bloody well help you if you run off?"

Koko stopped herself rolling just before the widening pit of sand.
"Oh s**t.... Zed what the hell?!"
She scrambled to her feet & tried to figure out what was going on. Spotting the pilot in the pit she ran forward & landed behind him, sinking slightly. Grabbing the back of his shirt with one hand she began 'flitting' towards the edge of the sand pit, managing to get near the exit before tossing Zed the rest of the way. Soon afterwards she appeared next to him on an apparently stable bit of sand, breathing heavily.

Zed started laughing.
"That was close"
The ground below Zed and Koko fell into a huge hollow space that was under the dune.
They landed on the soft sand on the floor in a vast dark chamber, the hole they'd fallen through was a good 5 meters or so above them and was still pouring sand down into the chamber.
A large metal wall was visible nearby.
Zed burst out from under the sand then shook himself off.
"Well this is odd..."

Koko was already on her feet, wandering slowly over to the metal object. Her head was tilted slightly & she'd drawn her combat knife.
"I wonder what it is...."
Slowly she reached out & tapped it, a loud 'clink' sound reverberating around the hole. She edged along, to try & see if there was any sign of what the metal had originally been part of. It seemed to be the type of metal used on ships, but she wasn't sure.

Zed looked around then followed Koko.
"It could be one of three things. 1, a crashed ship or large sandcruiser, 2, it could be a chunk of the sleeper ship, or 3, a buried city."
He used his uplink to run a scan of the area.

"How interesting...."
Koko continued to make her way along the metal, brushing away a bit of sand that was still stuck to it. There seemed to be some sort of indentation in the metal that may have also been painted at some point. She called out to Zed,
"Hey, come here, I think I found something that might shed some light!"
The markings did seem to form letters, but she couldn't quite make out what they said.

Zed stepped back to look at the markings then helped koko finish clearing the sand off of it.
"The mid-range scanner picked up something under this dune, so this wasn't entirely unforseen on my part... But I've still go no idea of what this is..."

Koko tapped the metal with her knife again, moving along the stranger structure. Eventually she hit a bit where the sound produced was of a slightly higher pitch. She paused & held the edge of the knife near to the metal; carefully, she tapped the blade against it in small sections, till she figured out where the edges of this different section were.
"How odd...."
Sheathing her knife again, Koko ran her fingers along the metal, finding small indents at the edges of the section she'd been inspecting.
"Hey Zed! Come look at thi..."
Before she could finish her sentence, the mercenary's finger caught a small pressure sensor & the entire section flipped forward, sending her inside the metal structure before closing again.

Zed watched as Koko vanished and found the pressure sensor quickly after. He looked at it for a moment before jabbing at it and following her through.

It was completely dark in... well, wherever the two had landed, save for a small sliver of light from a crack in the structure. There was a strange muffled sound from below Zed when he landed.
"Gerrrofff mee"
Koko had been sprawled on the ground when the pilot came through after her, so he managed to land right on top of her & now she was being crushed. She struggled slightly, attempting to shove him off.

Zed rolled off of Koko then started the fusion cutter that he'd build into one of his fingers on his left hand. The small blue flame lit up a small area around the two of them.
"Where'd you reckon we are then?"

Koko sat up slowly, rubbing the back of her neck & looking around. She sighed & slowly stood up, her eyes trying to pick out anything in the gloom.
"My guess... is that we're in some kind of abandoned structure, judging by it being buried in the sand & all. Perhaps there was a severe sand storm & the place got buried? The metal used suggests it's some kind of vehicle or at least used to be..."
She turned her head in Zed's direction & a spontaneous thought crossed her mind, making her pupils dilate slightly. Quickly however, she buried the idea & waited for his response.

"Could be some kind of sand cruiser... or a sand steamer... or even one of the great airships... lets look for the engines if there are any..."
Zed spun around, holding his fusion cutter finger up to light the way.

Following close behind the pilot, Koko sighed again & silently chided herself for her previous thoughts. She wished she still had her handgun with her right now, but alas it had been lost on the other sleeper ship. As they were walking, the mercenary began to wonder whether she'd be able to scavenge any equipment from this place to use on the Aiolos or on her own equipment. So distracted by these thoughts, she didn't sense the object in front of her till she tripped over it. Throwing her hands out to save herself, Koko managed to stop her face planting into the floor; when she looked round to see what it was, she realised there was a thick cable running across the floor.
