"And Earendil is holding my daughter Miyuki," Lin pointed to the baby who went back to playing with Earendil's fingers, "So it's all true. I never ceases to amaze how quickly information travels."

It was amazing and a bit scary sometimes.

Armus grinned at the baby. "She's cute. Is she a Second as well? I know there aren't many of us left there."

Earendil looked down at Lin for the answer to that question. It was one he hadn't asked, himself. Hadn't thought to ask. To him, it didn't matter: she had a daughter, what did it matter which world it came from?

Lin shook her head, "No vase, and she looks like a natural baby, except she was brought by stork. So, I don't know if she grows by stages or not."

It was possible she might grown naturally, it might be possible she grows by stages, Lin didn't know.

"It'll be interesting to find out," Armus grinned. "Anyways, I have to run, maybe I'll see you around! Have a good visit!" And with a wave, she was off, running across the yard.

Earendil turned to Lin. "She didn't say if it was the first door on the left or the right," he commented, blinking. "Second floor, and first door in one direction or the other."

"Then we'll knock, at least we won't be knocking on every door," Lin murmured with a shrugged, "I guess we end up doing both."

That was fine she supposed, it would be less awkward that way.

"Come on, I'm assuming because she told us of his room that he's not on shift."

"Let's hope so," Earendil smiled. He stepped forward and opened the door for the barracks, and held it open for Lin. Surprisingly, it was not dark inside: there was a window at the end of the hallway that let in enough light for them to see where they were going, as well as the fact that there was a stairway at the far end of the hall.

"Well, that's convenient," Earendil grinned.

"It's a relief, I mean, I've grown use to getting around in the dark in the first barrack, but it was nice to know if you were going to run into someone," Lin smiled as she commented on this.

She continued down the hall waiting for the steps to appear.

"Especially when you're trying to find steps."

Earendil laughed. "Well, if there hadn't been a window, you still have this," he grinned, tapping the flower he had given her lightly. "And even with the light, it is helping."

They reached the stairs quickly, since they could walk faster in the light, and headed up the steps. Once they reached the top, there was a long hallway down the center of the building with doors on each side.

"Left or right?" Earendil asked Lin, looking at the two nearest doors.

Lin looked at one and then looked at the other and finally she shrugged.

"Left," she finally guessed, "There's a 50/50 chance it'll be Daeron."

If not then well it was a guess.

Earendil stepped forward and knocked obligingly. It was a moment before the door opened, and instead of Daeron, it was a tall, black-garbed man with piercing blue eyes.

"Yes?" he asked, looking at Earendil. The light of the glowing flower drew his attention to Lin, and he looked at her and blinked, startled. "You!" he exclaimed. "You are here as well?"

Earendil blinked at the man. "Uh ... Lin ..."

Lin rolled her eyes, for some reason she wasn't that surprised seeing as Armus was here. Wherever Corrah was she supposed Armus would be too.

"Yes, I'm sure you've met a good deal of my family when you first came here Corrah," Lin replied.

For some reason seeing him again didn't bother her as much as she thought it would, probably because it had been many years, or maybe because he was trusted to be here.

"Sorry about that, Armus left before telling us if the left door or the right door was Daeron's room."

Corrah nodded slowly, fidgeting slightly as he watched Lin. "I see," he said softly. "Have a good visit then."

And he nodded politely at the two of them and closed the door quickly.

Earendil frowned at Lin. "He seemed scared of you. What was that about?" he asked, turning towards the other door and knocking.

"I think he's more... nervous than scared, we didn't meet under good circumstances."

Which was probably an understatement somehow but Lin honestly didn't care. The man was polite, he had spoken without harsh tones and it seemed somewhere that he had changed.

"Ah, I see," Earendil nodded.

Just then, the door opened, and Daeron, looking very much like his brother, appeared.

"Earendil!" he cried gleefully, throwing his arms around his brother and hugging him. "You finally made it! I was wondering when that was going to happen!"

He laughed. "And Lin. Welcome to you, too. It's been a long time since we've seen each other. And this of course must be the daughter I've heard so much about."

He grinned at Miyuki. "Hello there, little one."

Miyuki blinked up at Daeron looking a bit bemused by all of this, seeing so many new people would do that to a little baby. She opened her mouth and closed it again as she stared at the man.

"I'm also afraid to ask, but how can you hear so much when we just arrived yesterday?" Lin finally asked.

It was one thing when a person heard rumours, or heard about the fact she had a daughter, but it sounded like people couldn't stop talking about a baby they either only met for a small while or hadn't met yet.
