Vertigo

A fairly average Bulbasaur entered the Courtyard, a book held in his vines. The team room was far too noisy, and he just wanted to settle down somewhere quiet and read. Good, it was empty, if a little cool for his taste. Vert walked toward one of the trees, planning to sit in its shade, until he realized that he was walking directly toward a Misdreavus. He hadn't noticed her before and it would be awkward to simply leave because of her, so the Bulbasaur got a little bit closer before speaking a greeting. "Ah, hello."

Suki

Suki blinked as she spotted the Bulbasaur. He seemed fairly average in appearance, but the book he clutched in the grips of his vines made her curious. She drifted silently closer, squinting ever so slightly to read the title of the book. She froze as he spoke up. Ah, crap. She'd been caught. "A-ah, hello there." Suki replied quietly, stammering slightly as she struggled to find words that wouldn't make her seem like an idiot. "Is that book any good?" Not too bad. She meant it, too. She'd been planning to visit the library she'd heard about, but she hadn't yet managed to find it. Her pale body glowed faintly in the sunlight, and the blood red 'necklace' she had around her neck glimmered like rubies.

The sound of the Guild Bell distracted her, and her eyes widened. She heard the distinct crash of a door being broken down. This was serious. Without a word she was gone, gliding as quickly as she could to answer the call of the bell. There was a fight, and she planned to fight it.

Cadarl

Cadarl floated into the Courtyard. Mitch didn't accompany him, though-- the leader had fainted in the previous battle so Cadarl just left him lying on the floor somewhere.
And now Cadarl floated with the mysterious egg, which he gazed at with wonder. What could it be?
He wiped the wonderment off of his face. It didn't matter, unless it would make it easier for him to achieve his goals.
"Will you benefit me?" Cadarl asked the egg, though he knew it couldn't answer back.

Suki

Suki glided back into the Courtyard, hoping to find that Bulbasaur she'd been chatting with earlier. Who she found was even better. She hovered over to the Shuppet, watching him. He was carrying an egg. Sort of like the one their team had, only it gave off a different energy. He was talking? Oh, not to her. To his egg. She smiled. So the great Shuppet did have a heart inside that ghostly shell. She moved closer. "Hey there." She greeted quietly, her voice soft. "I didn't catch your name earlier."

The egg seemed to respond only slightly to his question, almost as if confused. Perhaps, since it was supposed to be psychic, it had even understood him. Fascinating.
His thoughts were interrupted by a voice, and he turned around quickly with his battle-face on. It wasn't uncommon for him to react in such a way to surprising situations.
However, this pokemon didn't seem to be much of a threat. He visibly relaxed.
"You didn't catch my name because I never mentioned it..." He stated gruffly, as if avoiding the question.
"...And it's Cadarl."

Suki

Suki, in her usual state of calm, floated around Cadarl to face him a little more, peering closely at the egg. "I'm Ketsueki." She replied, connecting the dots to realize that this particular Shuppet wouldn't mind her being blunt or straightforward with him."Suki for short." She hovered on a slight tilt, examining the egg, although being careful not to get too close, to avoid offending the Ghost-type. "New recruit?" She asked quietly.

The Shuppet looked down at the egg and then back up at Suki. "...Indeed."
He seemed to be judging the egg with his eyes, squishing his face in a characteristically decisive manner.
"I hope it's something strong," he said. His statement sounded rather odd; it was meant to sound purely for his own enhancement, but it also made Cadarl sound like an excited child at the same time.
Cadarl shifted a bit, uncomfortable. He wouldn't show that, though.
"How long have you been part of the Guild?" Cadarl questioned in attempts to start conversation.

Suki nodded slightly, listening to the Shuppet's note about it being a strong Pokemon. She couldn't tell for sure if he meant healthy and happy, or just a powerful fighter, but it didn't really matter. She sighed. "My partner and I are relatively new here." She didn't mention Kai. She felt a pang of humiliation at the thought of the shiny Mudkip; he'd attacked his own team by accident! Not a great way to impress the guild. She had a feeling that the team he'd attacked wouldn't be very fond of any of them now, regardless of Kai's apology... "What about you?" She'd met his partner as well. Sort of. He seemed nice, if a little bit... dim-witted.

"We are relatively new as well," Cadarl admitted, looking down at the ground. He was still mad that Mitch had been appointed leader instead of himself.
Sure, Mitch was stronger in physicality, but Cadarl surely had more of the smarts. Definitely. And Cadarl had most of the priorties down, too.
So why had Mitch been appointed?

Mitch

At just that moment, the devil himself decided to make a surprise appearance.
"Cadarl? Hey! Thanks for saving my butt back there, bud. Who're you...?!?"
Mitch jumped backwards at the sight of the female. Cadarl was talking to a GIRL?
Mitch hid behind the Shuppet, shaking violently.

Suki

Suki's brow furrowed in confusion. Why was the Chimchar so afraid of her. She spun around in a slow cirle in mid-air. She didn't see anything scary about her, aside from her type. But Shuppets were Ghost-types, too. So that left... Her gender? "He's.... afraid of females?" She asked Cadarl. That was potentially problematic. It would limit how close a friend she could become to Cadarl. "I'm not even remotely close to his species; why should he be nervous of me?" She unintentionally ignored the little Chimchar's question.

Mitch & Cadarl

Cadarl sighed lightly. "Yes... Yes he is," he said quietly, glancing behind him at the cowering Chimchar.
It was remarkable how brave and mighty he was whenever he wasn't around a female, and how pathetic he was whenever he WAS near them.
"It's a weird fear, indeed. And it doesn't matter the species... He isn't afraid you're going to take advantage of him or anything... He just..." Cadarl didn't have any clue how to explain.
"I don't know why I agreed to be on his team," Cadarl grumbled grudgingly. "He's an idiot."
Mitch seemed only slightly taken aback, but it was obvious he had dealt with similar bashings before.

Suki sighed softly. She was going to tell the Chimchar to think of her as being male, but bit her tongue. She'd rather not have the handsome Shuppet consider her as male, too. That wouldn't help her situation at all. Damn irrational fears. The Shuppet's second statement, however, took her completely aback. If her partner Zori had said that about her... She'd be heartbroken. "He tries, though. That's something to say in his favor. After all, if you're going to mention the negatives about someone, you have to take note of the positives, too, if you're to know anything about them." She felt her stomach twist uncomfortably. Great. Now the Shuppet would think she was an idiot.

Mitch & Cadarl

Cadarl took Suki's statement into polite consideration. It seemed a reasonable assumption, but that didn't make him feel any better about not being the leader of the Team.
"You have a point. I just don't necessarily see any positives to Mitch..." He snarled, and it was quite obvious that he wasn't fond of the Chimchar.
Mitch seemed to be slightly more offended by this, so he stood up straight and folded his hands behind his back.
He faced Suki and began to speak. "Thank you, miss, for trying to point out to my Co-Captain that perhaps putting others down isn't right."
It seemed he was a bit more comfortable around the ghost type now that he was aware that she was on his side. He still stayed slightly behind Cadarl, though.
Cadarl rolled his eyes lightly. Mitch was a good pokemon and a great fighter, but Cadarl could respect no one that got in his way towards greatness.

Suki

Suki looked uncomfortable. "Oh no, don't drag me any further into this. I've got enough problems with my own team; I don't need to deal with the leadership of yours." She backed away a little bit. "Stupid Mudkip." She muttered bitterly. She was still completely ticked off about her teammate's mistake. Why did Kai have to mess up her chances of earning any form of respect in the guild?! Her hair-like tendrils curled around to cover the majority of her face. She looked like she was about to cry.

Mitch & Cadarl

Cadarl looked surprised by her reaction at first. This quickly turned to shame; it was obvious he had upset her somehow.
He floated backwards a bit, his head held downwards as he listened for any signs in a change in mood.
Mitch's personality, however, wouldn't allow him to just stand by and watch as someone was sad.
"Excuse m-me, ma'am, what's wrong?" he asked, gathering enough courage to step forward just a tiny bit.
He reached out his hand towards Suki, in a gesture similar to that of a polite and graceful bow.
