Sanguina Cruenta Sometimes I wonder if we talk about Norse stuff too often in this place. rolleyes I think it's just because there's a lot of us Heathen's about here. I'll gladly discuss other stuff when it's brought up but it will mostly be a lot more questions on my part. If it helps, I've been trying to keep it the L&A and Children of Odinn when I think of something new. There's just so many nifty threads in here already!

I'm just lurking about here ( I know, I've been trying to post but I couldn't get anything decent typed down, and then I decide it's just not really unnecessary or too off topic to post about it.) I'm a seeker, but all the Heathen-talk doesn't bother me at all, although it's not my specific point of interest right now. I get some bits of and pieces of what (Norse) Heathenry is about, and it encourages me to read up on it.

I'm focusing more on witchcraft than any religious context at the moment. It does interest me but I'm just not being able to figure anything out yet.

We need to invite some more people to the C of O place. I've been meaning to do like another round of invites to it, but whenever I start thinking about it I forget the people who I was considering inviting. I think it's fine having Heathen discussion here - I mean there are a bunch of other people floating around who may find the discussion interesting. I just feel like the ratio is a bit off. xd

Yes well speaking of Heathenry (or not) ...when I was walking back from the bus stop today two crows were walking towards me. I thought they'd fly off and divert their course because I was walking through but no, they stopped and looked at me for a little bit and then kept on walking past me. Later, when I went for dinner, as I was crossing the bridge to get to the eating area, I saw the two crows again, this time sitting on the tree closest to the bridge. And they just sat there watching me with their blue eyes. Now that's never happened to me before.

They're also pretty common in most places (I can't recall where you're at) so it could also have been two entirely different pairs of crows. I know they're all over around me.

Yeah, we have heaps of crows - but usually they just wander off when they see someone coming, not walk towards them. That's what magpies do when they're not trying to peck your eyeballs out.

People keep crows as pets occasionally so it might have something to do with that. Basically, unless they started roosting constantly in my back yard or a couple of ravens show up (ravens are not common around me), I probably wouldn't even notice.

We don't gots crows, we just gots magpies. A friend of mine had a pet one, it was great at mimicking sounds. It loved sirens; if you whistled like the first part, like rising in pitch, it would whistle the second half, declining in pitch. God it was a fun critter.

One of my friends has a pet crow. But he lives a couple of hours away...unless he now has two of them and has told them to stalk me in order to get me to remember to call him so we can catch up... xp I dunno.
When I was little I was able to do a very convincing magpie warble. I loved scaring the girls I went to school with because for some odd reason they were terrified of magpies (and crows).

I can only think of one thing that could have made this decent ending to a shitty day better. But Bright Black Heaven downloading an hour early was a nice little pick me up. As of right now I haven't gotten through the whole album but Cold War, Faith Healer, and Deconstructing Gods are working their way to being possibly favorite songs. Now if I could find the lyrics to all three cat_stare
Does anyone thing there's something wrong with me for the fact that all the anti-religious songs AFI/Blaqk Audio come out with are on my favorite songs list? And are usually high up on that list? cat_whee

Not at all. The songs one likes could be for the music, the lyrics, or the meaning or a combination of all three. Or just because they're catchy. It might just be a coincidence that those songs are all themed the same.

I usually go for lyrics and meaning. Sometimes the music will slip in or be an afterthought. Like the lyrics will catch me and I'll stop and listen for the meaning and then its like "Oh hey I kinda like that beat." Too Shy to Scream (little grammar thing with the lyrics in the video its "if you only met my eyes , before you pass by will you pause to break my heart") is the only song I can think of at the moment that caught me with the music first. I just had to laugh about it though because they don't have many. Its like Sacrilege, God Called in Sick Today, and possibly Deconstructing Gods. I don't know yet since I didn't buy the actual CD like I usually do so I don't have the lyrics booklet and my site for lyrics doesn't have the whole CD up yet. But from what I heard it sounds like its headed that way. Though I have to laugh how people think that God Called in Sick Today is the story the story of Jesus when Davey, I believe, is an atheist. I know the bassist is. That was a funny quote from an interview. Quote: Galaxy-What's your spiritual background or religion? Davey: I'm God. Hunter: He follows him. I'm atheist. Galaxy - Oh my god, you don't believe Davey exists? Hunter: No That makes me wonder now if Jade has a slight problem with the anti-religion songs. But I'd have to look and see if I can find if he's actually religious or not. I don't think he actually does since he's been in the band since 1997 and God Called in Sick Today was on the first album he made with them. But of course Davey and Jade have been best friends since high school. So I don't know. And I rambled. Edit: Now that I've gonna back and listened a second time The Witness seems more like an anti-religion song than Deconstructing Gods. I'm still trying to catch what's being said in Deconstructing Gods. I've been driving both times I've had it playing.

See that's what I do most of the time too, but I also have a bad habit of pulling the "music apart". For example if I end up listening to a complex musical track, them I will unintentionally isolate each different instrument and listen to that instrument playing their part. It's kinda cool, but kinda annoying when I'm trying to relax.
