Eventually, after an hour or so of walking passed, the group had reached the end... of the first half... of the bridge. They could see water in every direction, and it was becoming quite cold. The water was also running very fast.
Regond, who was now resting on some Guardian's back or shoulders, glanced up the river apprehensively. "Ah... Kiki," he said, surprising all by knowing the girl's name, "what season is it in Ether currently?"
Apparently, the answer would either reassure Regond or affirm his current thoughts.

Sometimes, when I'm sitting in my bedroom...
All ALONE... in the DARK...
I sometimes look up at the stars and wish I was them.
All ALONE... but in plain SIGHT...
But then I think of something...
.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.Queenie muttered angrily beneath her breath, as did Marina. How long is this going to take...? They thought icily. Floreta had dropped down to the bridge with the others a while back. She wanted to conserve her strength for anything that might appear. It was beginning to occur to her that out of the group right then, she was the only one who had adamant control over her abilities. That made her even more determined. And a little more afraid. I have to protect them! .x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.
It's really strange, I think...
When they're up there...
They're all ALONE. In the DARK. But everyone can SEE them...
It's strange when I look up at them...
Because they kinda remind me of YOU.

Kiki's arms were still out in balance, fortunatly, he was on her right shoulder, because if she did in fact lose her balance the weight of this little owl fellow would allow her to fall conveinently onto the bridge, before falling to her death.
She took awhile to take in his voice, and what he was asking. Something was odd about this owl, Regond. Kiki furrowed her brow. "Seasons?" She asked, chuckling in a lack of understanding. Kiki started to quietly mumble out an explanation, so it's undefinable whether she was only telling the owl or just talking to herself, assesing the situation.
"Odemunk taught me that the Ether is simply one eternal world. I beleive this, Odemunk is like my old man. But- how does one define a season in an eternally lasting realm? The sun goes up and down, in a cycle- those could be their own mini seasons. A season or cycle is usually a lifetime of an animal or some sort of living thing. But most animals and plants are gifted with eternal life here- even if they mature it would be near an eternity for Earth. And aren't some creatures just created with magic?
Then, orbital cycles, but- the Ether is a realm, I don't think it has a celestial body to orbit around. If the Ether did have sun like Earth's to orbit around, that would explain why some areas are cold while deserts scorch others. Then where would an equator be, if the cold area is the center of the Ether?
It's more beleivable that the Ether was simply created by magic to stay the same forever, with minor weather patterns."
Kiki was deep into thought now, she had to go back on the bridge and walk so she didn't fall off.
"But Earth weather patterns are in timeframes. In Ether, it is the same forecast all the time. It is usually winter in the mountains, for instance."
Kiki stopped her ranting, and jumped back on the rope. She looked to her shoulder for a moment and talked again, this time louder, conclusive.
"Essentially, it has been consistantly sunny, with a few rains for the last few weeks in the forest. I would say it's what you Earthborn's call Spring. If we can travel fast enough, it will be winter within a few days."
Kiki smiled cutely, with a naivety about her. The jungle chick started to skip along the ropes. Maybe later she would attempt to grapple along by her hands.

Regond stared at the girl who he rode upon (and did not remember settling on) for a good few minutes of walking. Something about her piqued his intellect, to say the least. What was that old saying? Something about throwing the good logs in the fire. Your bad ones can be given to your neighbor, or some such nonsense. Kiki had, essentially, outlined Ether's basic concept of eternity.
And yet the seasons still changed. It hadn't much to do with the weather here--that was always constant, as said before. But up on and around Gagazth Mount, the magic was so turbulent and instable that the weather did change. And in fact, there was a certain pattern to this magical changing of the seasons.
You see, either Gagazth would be ice, or it would be snow. Those were the only two seasons; ice for winter, snow for spring.
Spring meant melt water.
Melt water meant flooding.
The bridge would survive a flash flood of sorts, but... the creatures crossing it would not.
"Curses," muttered Regond, who then rose from the bridge in a flutter of feathers and displaced air to, presumably, get a better look upriver.
He'd be climbing altitude for quite some time before he would be able to see the fate that awaited the rest, down below.
~
Shef, in the crossing, was abnormally silent. He wasn't tired in the slightest, having always possessed a great deal of energy, even if lazy and incompetent in work. He was gazing at the water, not speaking to anyone. He was not particularly close distance-wise to any Guardian on the bridge, either.

Shef glanced over to see a violet-haired girl of about his same age. Floreta, he knew, but he felt somewhat detached. None would be able to tell, really, but Shef was a bit shocked by the happenings so far, and it had only just now surfaced as complete apathy. When the surprise and wonder at everything that was Ether went away, he would be back to his inquisitive, simple-minded self.
But for now, he felt strangely quiet, philosophical, and ponderous.
"Yeah," Shef said in his best impression of a normal voice. He sounded a bit tired, though. "Just thinking...."
Shef glanced up at the disappearing form of Regond, before returning his gaze discreetly back to the water. It was calm, cool, refreshing, invigorating... water was life, he realized suddenly--and yet it could be so deadly. Maybe Regond's apprehensions and knowledge of Ether was beginning to seep into him, or he was having a bit of foresight; foreshadowing a terrible event to come.
Or maybe Shef was just thinking about water, because he was looking at it.
When Floreta had not spoken again, Shef realized he was being a bit rude. Slowly, but not begrudgingly, he turned to glance at her again.
"...sorry. Thanks for caring." He sounded possibly a bit more lively... possibly. A thought occurred to Shef, though.
"Hey, Floreta?" he asked softly. "When did you meet... uh..." a glance was given to Alhiria. Shef frowned for a moment, before the name returned to him.
"When'd you meet Alhiria?"

Then he asked his question, and Floreta blinked cutely, in mild surprise and confusion. "Oh, Alhiria? Well..." she pursed her lips in thought for a moment, and then gave a soft smile when she remembered. "I met her when I was five. We've been together ever since." .x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.

((xDD Long post followed by a short post.))
"How did that work out for you?" Shef asked. He probably meant, how did she handle such a turn of events. He was almost shell-shocked, even, by what had happened--even if Shef wasn't intelligent enough to know the correct term for what he was experiencing.

.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.((Lawl. xd )) Floreta blinked, thinking about it. "Well, I was only a child then," she replied gently, never speaking in a normal volume. Her voice was always soft, always smooth. She smiled, interlacing her fingers behind her back. "And children adapt very easily, I've come to realize. When she came into my life, I accepted her almost as easily as I would've anything else. That was a time when I still believed that stuffed animals could talk and Santa Claus existed. In truth, it wasn't hard to accept Alhiria at all. Before long, she was a part of me just as my arms and legs were. I can't even remember a time without her." Then she realized she was babbling and blushed fiercely, covering her face. "Oh! I'm sorry! I ranted on! I'm sure you didn't want to hear all of that! My apologies!" The exclamation was soft - everything about her was soft. One wondered how Alhiria could be so snide sometimes when this sweet little girl was her Guarded. .x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.

Santa Claus isn't real...?
Ignoring this thought, Shef regarded Floreta curiously. She seemed... nice. She was gentle and easygoing, and thoughtful. In his currently sedated state, Shef found her companionable, but like always, he would end up driving people away with his bizarre (or just incompetent) personality, later.
"I see," he replied soon after. Shef glanced up--and Regond crashed into him. The crazy bird was spouting something about water.
((OK. Who all is on the bridge, and where are those people who are gone with Alhiria?))

((Narissa is way too big to fit on the bridge and Holly went with Alhiria. Harlin and Damascus are on the bridge. Not sure about everyone else.
Santa is too real. *crosses arms*
And don't say the toothfairy killed him, because they were dating at one point!))
Narissa watched the two with lazy eyes. She didn't pay much attention to the seasons, since she didn't often cross the river. Mainly she swam in it, but this was the first time in a while she'd ever had to return to the Ether.
Harlin would usually be wary crossing rivers in the spring, but he was too busy trying to remember something forgotten to pay much attention to any fatal possibilities, a mistake he would come to realize.

Regond glanced about anxiously. Before saying anything and inducing a panic, however, the owl attempted to transform and thus, save them all. After an intense period of concentration and focus, Regond began to glow slightly, but alas, achieved nothing more other than tiring himself out. Now he could not carry even a single person.
"The... the water," Regond cried. "...coming."
Harlin would probably realize what was going to happen now. The water was already coming. And, in the center of the bridge, they had absolutely no way to avoid it. Regond could fly over, and Narissa could swim under, but the rest--were going to be lucky to remain alive.
"The water... Shef...."
Regond croaked, agonized. He had just let his Guarded--Arthur's son--down. He had failed....
"Goodbye, Shef." Regond's voice was no longer desolate or anxious. Just... defeated. Sorrowful. Ashamed.
