Riley smiled and wrapped her arms around him. "We'll get through this. Together." She kissed his cheek and then pulled away. "Try not to worry about it so much. Have fun. You're free and can do whatever you want."

Beth got about half way through her book and could have kept going except that her eyes were beginning to cross and get blurry. Deciding to take a walk, she grabbed the first thing she saw that could pass for a book mark and set the book on the side table.
Stretching in a very feline manor, she rolled from the bed and headed down the stairs. Not really paying attention to where she was going, she wandered out one of the doors and began aimlessly exploring the area.
Before she really knew how far she had gone, her nose twitched at a familiar smell that she hadn't smelled in years. Something not usually found in a city, but not uncommon in the country. Cow manure. She had stumbled across a farm. As she prowled along the boarder of the fence, her tail twitched in a playful hunting manor, she caught another scent that she recognized.
Slipping back toward the woods, she crouched down on all fours and followed her nose till she saw her quarry. Prowling as quietly as she could, she sneaked up behind him and gave him a playful swat. "Hey there Yata," she giggled. "What brings you out here?" Her nose twitched again, and she thought she caught the scent of someone else, but it was rather an odd smell, no really human, or even animal for that matter, but not plant either. Cocking her head to the side, she gave Yata an inquisitive look. "Was there someone else out here with you? Of course, being locked up in the lad for so long, I'm not used to all these smells..."

((hey, finally something happened,))
Zack turned to ((the cat right?)) and nodded in her direction, wiping his mouth of the blood that covered it, "Hello, I'm Zack," he said offering an introduction of sorts. He felt quite full now, he was glad he'd stopped for food, it felt good to eat. It wasn't as good as human, but it was definately easier to get, cows didn't fight well...

Beth jumped back, landing in a crouch with a loud hiss, fangs bared when she heard a voice come from seemingly nowhere. It was a moment before she recognized that what she had dismissed as a strange large plant was really apparently a person. Or rather, an experiment like herself and the others.
Recovering her composure as well as she could, she straightened up a bit. "Hi. I'm Beth. So, uh.... I assume you're from the lab like us, right? I don't remember seeing you before. How'de you get out here?"

"I found my own way of escape," he said to the lioness, still a little cautious around her, he knew that loiness were usually the ones to go out and hunt prey, and he didn't wanna be the next victim. He wasn't scared just cautious, he was slowly learning that you always had to be cautious out here. "after my departure from the lab, I wandered about trying to find my way back to New York, but as you can see I got a bit lost on the way...don't blame me I have a male's sense of direction," he joked.

my heart nearly lept into my throught, then i turned and spotted beth. smiling i said, "So thats who was lurking nearby. i have the sense of smell like a snake, but my humen senses block it as well. oh i see you meet, my plant friend. and what brings me out here? well just exploring for a bit."

Beth smiled and relaxed. She could tell that Zach didn't mean any harm. "Heh. Wow. You must have REALLY gotten lost to accidentally wander in here."
She looked over at Yata and gave him a smile. "Sorry if I scared ya, Yata. The kitty in me just couldn't resist a little hunt. So what you boys up to? And how long you planning on staying around, Zach? I'm sure Gramps would be happy to have you. What's one more, right?"

"Gramps...?" he asked slightly confused. He looked from the snake to the lion and back to the snake, they couldn't be related....could they?, he thought to himself thinking about the blood work in that family.

Beth smiled. She thought she could see definite signs of confusion on Zach's face. "Yeah. It's a tad confusing. You see, one of the other girls that we escaped with, Riley, used to live here with her brother and an older gentleman named Mr.Wiser. After we escaped, we got to a town, Riley call her brother, then he came and picked us up and brought us here. 'Gramps' is because they want us all to feel at home here, like one big ... odd, I'll admit, family. The little bit I know of him, he seems like a really sweet guy. He's done more for us in one day than my family did for me the whole time I was at home. Of course, that's not hard, but still...."
