We'll put it in a bag, and keep the bag with us... when you fade, it'll be right there. You can grab it... take it with you.

Hm...

:::She nodded::: That should work. Although, things are starting to appear in my room that weren't there before. I didn't fade back in with all the clothing that I bought when I went to Luke's time... but when I went back to my room, they were all there... I wonder if they're also still in Luke's time.

Hey, as long as it works, right?

*Alex stretched and leaned back in his chair. He was stuffed*

I'm going to buy you a wardrobe that'll make Luke's eyes pop out of his skull and roll around on the floor.

:::Smirking:::

Careful what you dress me in then.. he might think I'm flirting with him again.

*Alex got up and walked behind her, sliding his arms around her neck and hugging her, kissing the nape of her neck*

I don't think I have to worry about Luke, my dear. I think he sees you more like a sister than anything else. Besides... I know that you can take care of yourself.

:::She nods, smiling:::

Hmhm... please. Tell him that. I think he gets himself into trouble when he forgets that I'm... very capable. And if anyone needs some kind of protection, it's him not me.

*Alex rests his chin on her shoulder*

He is a bit of a hothead, isn't he. I'm sure that he'll calm down a bit over time, though.

:::She nods:::

He is only 20...

::But then she realized that meant a very different thing to the people in his time, and Alex's:::

That's not... very old for people in this time, is it?

Barely even an adult. But from what I read, he probably got it from his father.
PostPosted: Fri Oct 20, 2006 2:18 pm

20 is considered to still be a child for people of my generation...

:::She glances over at him:::

Why, who's his father?

He works in the government.

*Alex stretched and yawned* Oh, wow. You must have worn me out more than I realized.

Mm... :::She found it amusing:::

Yes, it is good exercise though.

*Alex stretched again and sat up again, fixing Cora with a smirk. he stood up from the table and walked to the closet, grabbing a coat and slipping it on*

You know, there's only one thing you can do after having a wonderful meal and... a wonderful time with a beautiful lady. I say that we hit the town and go shopping. I know that the Brink doesn't exactly come with all the amenities that you want, so I say that we get all we can right now. Also, I think we should go shopping for more clothes for you. A set to take back with you....

*Alex walked back over and snaked an arm around her waist and leaned down to kiss the nape of her neck*

... and perhaps a set to keep here in case you visit again?

*Alex gave Cora a sly wink*

Don't get me wrong. I absolutely adore the whole cheerleader getup, but I'd like you to feel more.. uhm... comfortable when you're here. And it might be nice to have a bit of a more varied wardrobe.

*Alex grabbed his keys and twirled them around on his finger*

Let's rock the town, babe.

:::Cora beamed at him as he began leading her towards the door:::

You're taking me to experience the commerce of the modern New York City...?

:::It wasn't really a question, it was more like a statement Cora had trouble grasping the enormity of. She was about to have the experience of a lifetime, she realized:::

:::The trip was everything Cora had expected, and more. The old architecture she'd seen in her studies, the little sky scrapers, all the ground foot traffic, the sun and sky a backdrop against the buildings. And that was just walking outside the door.

There were more surprises in store though. Cora began to count each time she sensed a smell that Alex could not distinguish. After a majority of the time, he blamed it on the sewers, and Cora stopped asking. Eventually they passed by a pet store, with puppies in the window display. Cora, at first seemed a bit disturbed, but once Alex brought her in, and she got the chance to hold one of the baby cocker spaniels, she was in love. It took forever to tear her away, and she was tempted to ask Alex if she could bring it with her back to the Brink. But, it seemed a poor gift to a new companion to put it the same kind of home she had.

Then she saw the kittens, and it was suddenly much easier to leave. Those, she was afraid to touch. They looked too much and too little like Alex to belong in her comfort zone.

Eventually they got to the meat of the trip, and Alex presented her at the finest boutiques, where the attendants showered her with clothes to try on. She tried on one sweater that didn't fit quite right in the shoulders, but she liked it so much, the manager insisted it be tailored for her on the spot.

Between shops, Cora felt herself grow hungry, and insisting to Alex that she couldn't stomach a full meal, he took her to Wendy's. It was then that Cora realized that the outfits they were carrying around with them could buy nearly 1000 baked potatoes.

After that, it was difficult to get Cora to consent to letting Alex spend much more on her. The night had come anyway, and an outfit or two later, they were on their way back to the flat. Once there, Cora kept the bags close by, for fear that she would fade away without them. The only thing to tempt her away, however, was a change to enjoy Alex's company more... completely.

Eventually, rest settled over the couple and they lounged in a warm heap of blankets and shopping bags. A few hours after falling asleep, Cora quietly faded out, along with a new wardrobe, a day full of wonderful experiences, and some photographs to remember them by.
