After having a few hours of sleep, Ari woke his men, and they continued on their way, luckily the night was 'quiet' there had been no disturbances. Ari hoped the rest of the trip would be the same. He figured that it would take about 4 more hours on foot walking to Fox Hole 2, but he really wished their journey would find them getting there in vehicles.
Eventually after walking about an hour, Ari and his squad found a small outpost, it seemed like it was UNSC built, but there was no identification on it. So Ari and his men, walked up to the door, and opened it, and held up their guns, and they found 2 UNSC soldiers, live, sitting, listening to reports, and doing whatever they do best, they looked up, pointing their guns at Ari and his men, and both sides realized each other were friendly, and lowered their weapons. The first soldier asked, “What are you doing here?” he asked, rather inquisitively, and curiously. Ari answered, “We came from a pelican, we had a crash landing, 14 died, were all that’s left, we’re on our way to Fox Hole 2.” The 1st soldier nodded, then said “Well this area is going to be overrun by the covenant in a couple hours, we just finished up here, we were relaying, and receiving messages, but we have to close down, and take all the equipment, we have 2 M831 TT Warthogs, your men can go in one, and us and our equipment will go in the other.” Then Ari nodded, and said “Ok, we’ll help you pack up.” Then after about packing up all the equipment, for about 15 minutes, they headed out on the warthogs. Now, the trip would only it would only take about one more hour to reach Fox Hole 2, providing they had a safe trip.
Ari was glad to be off his feet, but he wasn’t sure he wanted to get to Fox Hole 2 so badly, who knew what kind of condition it was in, it could have been over run, by the deadly Flood, the flood Ari thought, the things everyone feared, and hated, he heard they were worst then Chieftain Brutes, and even a whole army of Chieftain Brutes, these were the kind of things a man wished he would never have to see in his life time, never. Ari just hoped that when he got there, everything would be ok, but he knew, that, it would most likely not be the case.

Without question, Jono began to follow with the group, but a bit behind the group simply to take in the new surroundings. He opened his mouth to pose a question, but he quickly shoved his curiosity to the back of his mind. Instead, he switched his focus on keeping an eye out for the Flood who could spring out at the group at any moment.

After driving for an hour & a half more, Ari could start to see mroe buildings, destroyed though, and he figured they were close to Fox Hole 2, and probably a lot of trouble. Just to be safe, he took the safety of his gun, checked his equipment for prime battle-readiness, and then made sure his men did the same. Although Ari seemed fine, he was very much on edge, he didn't know what awaited him or his men at Fox Hole 2, he just wished this battle could be over, and humanity could go back to living here, but it was just a wish.
After they stopped for 10minutes to have a short lunch break, they continued, and as they went one of Ari's men asked him a question, "Sir how do you think Fox Hole 2 is doing? Will we even get there in time to help?" Ari looked at the man, and he didn't want to answer, but he noticed the other men looking at him, so he felt compelled. "Honestly I don't know." he said, looking down and sad, "I hope we can help, but if we don't get there in time, I think it will cost us our lives..."
Then, after sitting in silence for a while longer, he noticed the driver seem a little tired, and he told one of his men to take over, so they stopped for a second, then went right back on their way.

Winter turned, the add on followed. Slowly, scarred? If you were attacked by the flood you would, if not, well you were lucky. The smell of their stench, monstrous being taking on different forms as their purpose designated. From the warrior to the stinger. Marines, they took the form of the warriors. Not the mushrooms, or so it was thought. The testicle bearing creatures still held resemblance to their former selves. A sort of final scream of humanity. But once you were 'used' by the flood you were no longer part of humanity. You had nothing to do with it. You were the enemy.
They passed soldiers, loitering about, awaiting orders to come over their COMs. The doors were guarded, men hefting their weapons and the shuffling of machine gun turrets being mounted into place. The ODST sighed. They weren't moving fast enough. Yet maybe, maybe they'd be ready for the flood. Maybe if they were lucky. At least they were going on the offensive.
They left them behind. Into the lighted tunnels. Plasma marks, still smelling up the place with its acidic smell. One that made you want to shut your nose off, Winter could, but he didn't. He let the scents, the disturbing scents come into his mask. The smell of powder, incendiary rounds, grenades, the smell of war not be filtered.
Winter dropped the first sensor. A split way, three directions, forward into a blank bullet rattled wall or left or right down two hallways. He dropped the antennae down.

Jono continued to trudge forward as they passed by dozens of others who didn't seem enthusiastic about trying to stay alive. He kept looking at the soldiers until a foul odor forced an open palm to his face. After gagging for a moment, he lowered his hand with a highly unpleasant expression on his face resulting from the smell. Slowly, he took in deep long breaths, trying to swallow the air without choking again. Eventually, he came to a stop along with the rest as they were stuck at a Crossroads. They had four choices, but he was sure they weren't going back.

The soldier turned, some scurried at his feet. Then it disapeared, a cloud of green goo flying through the air. The roar of a shotgun, and the quick flick of the COM, "just a little guy." The man had been fast, reflexes had taken over, his headlight flashed on and the area was already under the cover of searching eyes. Surprised marines brandishing their weapons, starring at the ground around them. Trying to push away the awful stench of a thousand rotting mice, a sewer filled with vomit. The air was filled with the scent of death, a disgusting scent that lingered and did not leave you alone.
Winter turned, splashed with green glime, black soot smothered in flood bits. A sigh of relie-.
His shotgun roared once more, a assault rifle opened fired, and then another. Then silence came back. The rising smell of gunpowder filled the air, as the flashes of ammunition dissipated into the air. Breathing marines, flood decimated by lead. A green smothered floor. Bits of the small onion shaped creatures splashed across the floor.
"Dammit.." It had come so fast. "Winter to officers." He opened the COM. "I ran into a bit of flood. Just some small guys, five or six. Enemies squashed. Dropped the first sensor. Everybody's good and alive."
The flood, wretched vile creatures. Damn them all to hell.

All seemed good and well until a blast roared out, catching Jono by complete surprise. After stumbling backward a few paces, he quickly regained his balance and his hand shot towards his hip. He wrapped his fingers around the grip and yanked his pistol free. Bringing his other hand up to keep it steady, he turned in the direction of the ODST's headlight. He only managed to squeeze off a single shot before the commotion was over and was fairly positive he missed. His eyes strained as he squinted deeper down the hallway trying to located anything, but his search turned no results. At this pint, Jono realized how ill-equipped he was against the Flood, armed only with an SRS99D-S2 AM Sniper Rifle, practically useless against the small scurrying critters, and a single M6G-PDWS, powerful, quicker to move, but low rate of fire.

Winter turned, the musty scent of decomposed flesh waffled through the haze of powder. Cheap rounds, filthily put together and shipped, it worked, but the trails of un-combusted clouded the air. Yet his headlight starred through the mist, and with a flick of a light the entire hallway shinned. Open ventilation shafts, trails of flood slime, and the patterns of machine gun fire and plasma rounds. Blood splattered concrete and titanium bars.
He turned away.
"Jono. Step up, and we'll try to find a new gun for you. Just for the moment. A sniper won't do anything." A pause. "But you've realized that."
With that the man turned, giving the halt sign before stepping down the hallway. Darkness engulfing him as a blasted light fizzled to death, sending sparks from above. Bang. A pistol round whizzed off, the sound of breaking flesh echoing down the claustrophobic passageway.
"I'm.. Sorry.." The snap of metal came next, and Winter returned. Assault rifle in his right hand, dog tags dangling in his left. The man, was he dead? A green faced young man, in his twenties, contaminated. Bubbling fluid gushing from greenish pores, was he still turning? Who was this disemboweled soldier? Who knew, but a single pistol round to the head had finished it off. The green flood gloop strung to the tags proved that.
"Jono. Here." How would the man feel about taking a dead mans weapon? Hopefully not to bad, that soldier fell, his career went along as it should in another mans hands. In the battlefield that was the right thing to do. Once the lad was dead and you could not drag them along the closest thing was grab their weapon. Give a vengeful battle cry and pelt them with the mans weapon. Fill them with lead.
Three clips were tossed to the man, before Winter headed down the opposite pathway. He'd just done the dirt work, hadn't he?

Jono rapidly re-holstered his weapon as the pistol round in the hallway went off. Peering into the darkness, Winter reemerged with an Assault Rifle in hand that he out held, offering it to Jono. Jono swallowed the large, fist-sized lump in his throat as he grabbed the weapon and took it as his own. He wiped off some of the unknown green substance onto his sleeve as he was then given three clips to go along with the rifle. Taking a moment to place the clips on his ammo belt, Jono watched as Winter crossed to the other hallway.

The passage way, lit by some odd, ancient system. Or so it seemed. How old was Fox Hole 2 anyway? Winter pushed the thought away, dropping another sensor at another split point.
"Left or right?" The question was towards the others. What direction? The place seemed.. Clean. The bullet marks and burns seemed older. In his eyes that was good. Combat, not so gruesome.

[James "Joker" Mitchell]
James checked his rifle and then then put jis helmet back on. "You heard the man! Langley, Markus your with me! Grab your gear and get your asses on the line!" James shouted to the marines around him, they seemed to be sluggish and out of pace. "DOUBLE TIME IT MARINES!!!!!!" He yelled with all his might. Finally, they were moving, geting them together was simple, but getting over to LZ:Zulu-Echo-Nine might be a problem, hopefully not though. James had secured a Shotgun and straped it his waistline behind his service pack.
James used to be in 51st Force Recon Regiment of the UNSC Marine Corps, in fact he still had the M6G he used during the that time in his career. Mitchell then tansfered to where he is now. James missed the life in the 51st, he used to be a squad leader, but that is when he was told he was transferred to the Monterey. He had been under the command of Captain W. Exeter (Marine rank not Navy), in fact it was Exeter who got him smoking. James often debated adopting the Captain's no nonsense view of life, but he figured jokes made life in the Corps a little lesss unbearable.
James snapped out of it as the marines he requested had gathered around him fully prepared and the three went into the s**t. James motioned for them to activate their helmet recorders and flashlights. James then prefromed a quick check over they're weapons and brought his to bear. "On me, I've got point." James said in a hushed one, folowing was the two confirming his order. The small squad went in at first it was a little to unorganized and to rag-tag. "Check your corners." James said and the formation tightened and they got more cautious.

Extreme height of Earth Atmosphere and descending Aboard the Shangheili Super-Carrier Heart of the Blade Tenth Age of Deceit and Shame, Royal Calandar of Shangheilios
Quan-Vrek snarled as the inertia overtook them. His boots compensated magnetically for the shifting gravity, and they attracted the hull with trip-wire sensitivity: if he wanted to step, his raising boot would de-activate and allow his foot to move. Otherwise, he simply had to keep himself from flailing about and snapping his ankles: an easy task, for now. "Artificial Gravity is failing in this section of the ship, sire. Eighty Per-Cent of the ship that holds crew still posesses enough power ot their Gravity Generators to nullify the forces of our descent, but from here to the engine room is in free-fall." One of his comrades informed him through their inter-throat mics.
"Thank you, Brother. You all slay these bastards, and I shall move to the Engine room! Our engines must be restored if the Heart of the Blade is to be saved. I will assist the Huragok where I can with the repairs, and aide in the extermination of the Jiralhanae there!" Quan-Vrek stalked from the growing carnage, absent-mindedly decapitating a Jiralhanae with a flick of his wrist as he passed the dazed beast. The body stood there for a moment, as if debating whether or not it still had a head, finally the Devils it worshipped convinced it otherwise, and the body succombed to the spinning gravity as the muscles failed. The thing's knees snapped as the gee-forces flung the body 10 meters away, leaving the magnetized boots and shins solidly anchored to the floor.
The automatic doors hummed as they parted, revealing a dystopia of wrecked panels, pulled conduits, and dead Huragok. Some of the surviving Huragok had anchored themselves to the lattice-work and thick conduits of the Engine Room using their tentacles as thethers. There weren't many, though, perhaps a full 10 out of the original 200 stationed here. The Jiralhanae would pay in blood and flesh for their crimes against even these, the most peaceful of all creatures the Covenant had known. And Quan-Vrek intended to make them pay, personally.
Leaping with all his might onto the back of the first Jiralhanae, he burried his blade deep into the beast's neck....

((Assuming we're taking it from the officers' meeting.)) Jono sat just outside of the room that most of the officers had piled into obviously discussing plans for the future. Patiently waiting the results that would more than likely have him mobile within the hour, Jono was keeping occupied by stripping his rifle down to the basic field stripping positions. He whipped out a rag from his pocket and gave it a quick flick to shake off the lint that was clinging to it. The rag was already stained with various black blotches from previous cleanings. Although it hadn't been long since he last cleaned and inspected his gun, it was always a good way to pass the time. His hand quickly began scrubbing every nook and cranny, polishing the bolt to a mirror shine. As the meeting continued, he swabbed away at his rifle.
