I enjoy them as well, but a problem arises. We have such disparate views on many issues, and I become increasingly concerned that our friendship might be bruised if I were to continue. Additionally, a nasty habit of needing to have the last word in rears up, and I begin to wonder if my posts are valid . . . or me perpetuating an argument.

Another good point. We are both passionate about our stances, and debate can lead bad places unless done with care. Granted, I think we've known each other long enough that even if things got out of hand we'd be fine.
Also true is your point about talking in circles; due to the time span in which these discussions take place, it's easy to forget which aspects have already been covered, so repetition is likely.

One thing many don't realize about the status quo: it requires work to maintain.

Friendships remain so because all involved parties continue to act in a way that fostered the friendship to begin with. Colleagues choose to treat each other with deference and respect. This must happen even with sensitive or diametrically opposed positions. Just because we are friends does not mean that I will depend on that to avoid a kerfuffle over different views on significantly held beliefs. Call it erring on the side of caution if you must, but I'd rather respect you first and watch my step than to stomp on your thoughts/beliefs and then ask forgiveness later.

Seems disrespectful to just assume you'd be okay with something I might do out of thoughtless reaction.

Definitely true.

I agree that caution is wise; I only meant that you should feel free to voice your opposing ideas or disagreements.

I do, old friend. I just do so with a rather generous helping of caution and as much tact as I can muster.

So, how are things going on your end?

Things have more or less returned to normal. Things feel okay, or even almost good when in fact they have been fine and normal again.

I am dealing with the monster that is Pokemon Go, however. sweatdrop

Normalcy isn't a bad thing necessarily.

Ah, you got sucked into that, too, eh? I'm amazed how totally it spread.

While I do enjoy it, a major set of issues are arising. Some of them make the game far less fun to play such as lowering the capture rate by 20%, and removing any vestige of being able to track the spawning of creatures . . . by first or third party. The company has taken down their own tracking system and blocked any other party from publishing the tracking data either.

Yeah, Niantic doesn't know what to do w/ the explosion in popularity it had, and unfortunately their panic is costing them users. From what I've seen of the app, they're also not the greatest coders, even when considering the server issues.

A new patch/update was released tonight. I cannot say much, but one thing may prove to be a hidden boon. In response to the people that drive and play at the same time, a new popup has arisen. It seems to be a "cover our own a**" kind of thing, in that when the device recognizes you are going over a certain speed, a popup with a button appears. It makes you say "I am a passenger" instead of driving. That way if something happens . . . niantic is not at fault. This is a boon however, in that if you go slow enough to where that popup does not come up, then you know your distance is likely going to help hatch your eggs. cool

The tracking screen has changed- though I do not know how it might have been improved as of yet. Time will tell.

Yeah, I've seen the new articles about every update changing things, usually for the worse. With the school year starting again soon, I think they'll have to hold fast during the doldrums until the next summer break.

The buzz I keep seeing is talk about releasing the second generation of mon out into the game, with a new mechanic or two to evolve some into new forms that are carryovers from the original. Me? I want them to fix it before adding to it. As a coding individual, I am sure you can see how that might bite them in the a**.

Yes, they should spend the school year resolving technical issues. Once it runs well, then maybe 2nd gen next summer is reasonable?
In short: technical debt over feature creep.

I would by far prefer that the game be fixed before the next generation comes out- but too much information is leaking. I have a feeling that this will be an ongoing problem. I am already reading about mechanics for two more of the evee evolution options, and another set of evolutions for current creatures that are not available. Assuming they would fix it instead of forging on ahead seems foolish at this point.
