Van Evok
as for the laser weapons, they dont have a recoil per se, so you can shoot to your pleasure while plunging groundwards, just dont expect to actually hit something

which is why i said im not arming it was laser weapons. jeez!

as for the missiles, if your gonna fire something in mid air without being stable, surely a volley of explosives is your best bet

On my desk, just in time for the weekend, two Tauros assault vehicles:

Best of all, they fit into the rear compartment of the Valkyrie, so no need for another Sky Talon. sweatdrop

Other armies might disagree with that statement.

technically an infantry platoon is made up of 3 or more units though (command squad and 2 infantry squads). so its kinda unfair to compare it to say, a Tau fire warrior squad, which only has 10 'men'.

and yeah, being able to take heavy weapons teams, multiple special weapons and that all in one troops choice is good, it also has loads of guardsmen armed with reasonably crappy lasguns. so it balances it out. whereas a single unit of Fire Warriors have better weapons that they can use better because of their better stats. sure they dont have the heavy weapons, so they cant have a tank hunting weapon as part of the squad, or be able to lay down multiple shots from a single heavy weapon, but without the heavy weapons, they are also far more mobile. so whether having better stats or heavy weapons, its all down to how you play the army, and how to best make use of their strengths/weaknesses

in a 500 pts platoon I can fit easily 15 autocanons or heavy bolters... heavy weapons squads make it firepower powerhouse
I saw once guard list for 2k with 45 autocanons... it was dubbed leafblower by those who fought it, blowing away mech and horde alike
PostPosted: Sat Apr 10, 2010 2:36 am

yeah, but as i said, its a platoon, not a squad, so its kinda unfair to say its the most powerful troops choice, when its actually 3 troops choices that count as 1 troop.

40k has no fair fight comparisons, so any army can shout that they have the bestest troop selection of the entire game. Marines are the best. No chaos are the best. No woofs are the best.

Ad nauseum.

and guardsmen while maybe not best are most numerous smile

I batted my first first opponent away as I would a fly. Then I lost due to a utter and complete lack of ability to hit anything. Then I pulled my last match into a draw if I would have won I would have tied for third. Not bad considering I didn't know there was a tourney going on and completely built the list on the spot

which is different to what you said before, you said they were the most devestating, not the most numerous. as mac said, there are no "Best armies"

Isn't the last released army always the best?
PostPosted: Sat Apr 10, 2010 2:31 pm

seems like it, but i think its because everyone just finds the stupidest, least fun, strategy and spams it. whereas i play chaos guard (with the standard guard dex) but i dont play the same strategies, i use loads of sentinels instead of heavy weapons and tanks. it works for me, but it makes the army both fun to play and fun to fight.

It's an unfortunate side effect of the release of a codex that people do not know how to counter it off the bat. And yes, it might not have any evident counters. That just means that you have to play harder to beat it.

Evok, the only Leafblower list I know of came up on BoLS as a weirdly composed Mech Guard list.
