Caleidah Lady Blodwynn Had a good long hard look at those plastics and they look impressive, if a bit over the top all of the sudden. One thing that I heard as to the sudden increase in detail is that GW has modified their means of producing molds and, as such, is now able to produce models with higher molded quality. forge world must have helped them modify the molds

If Forge World was involved it would be of s**t quality. GW did the research their selves.

Then they begin pushing the limit to see how far they could take things. Which is how we got kits like the Valkyrie and the new Space Wolves and the up coming Blood Angels

Can't help but feel that they are putting too much detail on their models these days.

Lt. Brookman Can't help but feel that they are putting too much detail on their models these days. well, the blood angels are about as far as they should go with detail, seeing as they look extreamly hard to paint well.

Blood Angels are also reputed to be high class artisans, aren't they? I suppose that makes sense for the over-design on the armor.

No that's the Blood Angels. They're supposed to be very artsy and the like.

Even in old 2ed codex BA were highly artistically minded, and Tycho was reputed to hate Orks personally for disfiguring his face... BA see in the humanity potential to advance - as themselves they advance from scavenger nomads to proud Astartes, but at the same time they see the potential of downfall as civilization of Baal system fell once.

Actually, it's more in reference to the fact that some models are so festooned with details and whatnot, it makes me wonder when they think enough is enough. They look like Liefield action figures in some cases.

Well, the Blood Angel's take a lot of inspiration from the Italian Renaissance in art, statuary, even names. So it makes sense that their models would be over-the-top. Hell, look at Dante: It looks like they tried too make him akin to a golden angel. Now THAT'S badass. Let's see the Black Templars top that s**t.

Well, they probably will at least have something close to it, in their own style. True to the name, most Templar stuff has more of a European Gothic feel around it. Functionally ornate armor, decorative weapons, focus on heraldry and religion.
I can see Templars getting new plastic to incorporate some of the older patterns of armor, reaching back to the MkIV "Knight" Armor, which has some of my favorite stuff. Well...Knight is either MkIV or V. Whichever one it is, the other one is the "Iron" armor.
Eh.
Even if they aren't ornate, they really aren't supposed to be. Both Templars and Blood Angels stomp their way up people's asses with both feet, the Blood Angels just do so in a prettier manner.

I expect at least some beakie style armors in the Templars since they are modeled after actual medieval helmets.

BT's really need more of the third suit. Iron Armour I believe it is called. A great helmet design that really suits their style and background.

Agreed. I have a bunch of CSM with Iron Armor style helms (originally Iron Warriors models, AFAIK) and I love them to death. It definitely fits their background, and would look sick on a bunch of Sword Brethren.
