*gets down a snifter and a bottle of peach brandy. He fills the glass adequately and slides it over to Ryzan, keeping the bottle down for the likely inevitable refill*

*takes a large sip of his brandy and sighs* X... Xas. I would not have thought him the type, really. He had always been good to me up until that point.
Incidentally... that is also when I cut my hair. *takes a long drag off his clove*
It... um... it was actually Quortek who killed him. I was too shocked to even fight back at the time.

My former fiancé was a mage by the name of Ar'vnes. He was in search of a House to join and House Vx'tul originally sent me to convince him to join ours. Little did we anticipate that he would take interest in me jhal not the House sweatdrop It is better that he did not, though....
He was quite the gentleman and was ves ves good to me. I had thought when I was with him that I had truley met the man I would spend the rest of my life with. There was just one problem.... he... he did not care for Quortek.
*looks down into his glass of brandy, swirling it* He was ves "traditional", as they say. He liked for dark elves to take great pride in who they were, spending a great deal of time in Neriak, joining a House, swearing all allegiance to the Dark Father Innoruuk, letting your hair grow out... *runs a hand through his hair* Quortek did not fit in to any of this... and there were vague rumors going about decrying his person, all of them stemming from the mystery regarding who his father is.
I had hoped that if Ar'vnes were to just meet Quortek in person, he would realize that him not being so "traditional" was really quite meaningless. And it was important to me that they at least be able to stand each other since Quortek has always been a dear friend of mine and I had every intention of having him be my best man for the ceremony. Rilu'oh, when I got Quortek to come to Neriak so we could all sit down and talk, immediately everything went badly. There were some harsh words exchanged between the two and Quortek eventually left the tavern we had gathered at.
Afterward, Ar'vnes and I had a bit of an arguement ourselves... and... in my attempt to get him to understand how dear Quortek is to me, I had said that I love him. I meant it in a platonic way at that moment in time, rilu'oh Ar'vnes already knew of my previous feelings for Quortek and felt this was a continuation of the same. He left in a rage before I could fully explain and I simply went home, not knowing what else to do.
Later that tangi, Ar'vnes woke me and said he had a surprise for me. He was so excited to show me that I did not even have time to change out of my bed clothes. As it turns out... the "surprise" was a ves ves beaten Quortek...

Ar'vnes felt that as long as Quortek was alive, I was not going to give up my feelings for him. I was so upset and desperate that I had offered to never even speak to Quortek again if that was his concern. Jhal.... it was more than that. He went on to list everything about him that he did not like and why he felt it would do our kind a favor to rid the world of him. To add insult to injury... he handed me a dagger and demanded that I deliver the final blow.
*has a drink of brandy and takes a deep breath* I begged him to not ask such a thing of me and to just let Quortek be. He was not harming anyone as he was. Ar'vnes insisted that Quortek had absolutely no pride and gave his hair... *scoffs*...his hair of all things as an example. I told him that if all Quortek needed was the proper hair rolleyes , then he could have mine.
I took the dagger, cut off the ponytail I had my hair in, and gave it to Quortek. *glances over at Tes with a small smile*
Ar'vnes then... at that point... turned all his anger on to me, attacking relentlessly. I guess I must have dropped the dagger in the scuffle. The next I saw of it, it was burried in his back.
*takes a long drag off his clove and exhales slowly* I... I wanted to get a cleric, jhal... Quortek would not let me. Even Ar'vnes himself said that if he were to be healed, he would stop at nothing to eradicate the both of us. He could have just been speaking in anger... just as I spoke out of hurt when he passed and I was left without a lover because of Quortek.
