"Bingo." Khalid gave Rei a little grin. "Anyway, he didn't like that. At all. He told me that he sent one of his minions after you... named Mariku, I think. Just to cause some pain. But now the gods have caught on and if you die they'll just bring you back. So Vadin wants me to send you to the modern world so they can't do this when you die."

Khalid's violet eyes flashed with some anger. "Don't blame me. I'm just doing a favor. And you know what? Maybe you have suffered enough. Maybe all you and your family deserve is to get rest. Just have a normal life. It's not for me to judge. I just do as I'm told."

"Only do as I'm told by higher authority than me." Khalid corrected, but shrugged. "Anyway, I can't do that. Too much effort on my part. I can send you and your children there, but I'm not bringing him back. Make your decision quickly. I have other things I want to get done."

Khalid looked at Rei curiously, then glanced over his shoulder. "Not right now. There's someone else I want to send. It'll be easier if I send you all at once. Meet me at the palace."

Khalid brushed off his jeans-- he hadn't bothered trying to dress in the Ancient Egyptian style-- and headed out of the house. He slipped out of view to make it easier for him to go to the palace. He supposed one could call it teleporting. He didn't know how he did it, and he certainly didn't have a name for this ability.

Rei headed out the stall. Untying the house she got both her and the kids on and rode off to the palace.

In the palace, Khalid materialized in the priest Seto's room. It was night, so the two were asleep in the bed. He didn't want to have to deal with the priest; he only cared about the woman. Silently he went onto Seto's side of the bed and located the nerve on his neck to knock him out, then pressed it. There wasn't much of a change between him being asleep and him being unconscious, but he wouldn't be awake soon. Khalid then went to the woman's side of the bed and shook her to wake her up.
