Daemon nodded, "When there's enough of it... and I'm pretty sure an arrow of lightening would make glass."

Probably very blacken glass, but glass still. Now that was an interesting thought...

River looked out at the desert. "Maybe sometime I could try it, and maybe see," she murmured. "Right now doesn't seem like the right time ... I'm sure that with the storm there's a lot of work to be done."

She knew she, Amalirahc and Ivy hadn't been the only ones caught outside, and she'd seen what the wind and sand could do ... even now, looking at the house, she could see that most of the paint had been ground off.

"And we should find your grandparents," Daemon murmured, "They'll be worried..."

He would be, especially since one of the issues of being out in the orchard was that it was difficult to get to a shelter in time. Two minutes wasn't very long, and no doubt there was a that small moment where Amalirahc and River were confused about the war horn, even with Ivy with them.

"I hope those two had the foresight to tell someone they're fine...."

He realized he probably shouldn't have let Amalirahc and Ivy run off like that.

River had a feeling Ivy would have known to do so; after all, she'd grown up with these storms, and she would know how people would worry, not knowing where she was.

"You're right," she agreed, brushing her clothes off. "Grandmama and Grandpapa will be looking for me. Thanks for helping us out of that thing." She smiled at Daemon warmly, for once looking, aside from her darker skin, like her rather calm mother.

Daemon smiled back, "I'm just glad we got you out in time."

He hated to think how hot it was getting in there, greenhouses weren't something you found in the desert for obvious reasons. Looking around briefly, he didn't feel anything that tugged at him, so he assumed that it had only been the children who were in the area.

"Well, I guess we can head back and see what else needs to be done."

River headed back to the main yard, her eyes scanning the plantation for others. By this time, most of the others had reappeared, some a bit worse for wear - scrapes and burns and such - but for the most part, everyone seemed to have been able to find shelter from the storm. She spotted her grandparents and ran to them right away.

Above everyone, a large shadow flew off, away from the plantation, heading south.

"Lin," Aethos called from where he and Alassëa had sat down on the front porch of the house. "You all right?"

He could see that her shirt wasn't in great shape, and he was worried about her.

"I'm fine," Lin assured Aethos, "We were near the house when the sandstorm hit."

Though it hadn't occurred to her that her shirt was not in the best of shape at the moment.

Daemon looked over at Lin, "I think you need to change your shirt, we both do."

"Maybe you'd best head inside then," Aethos suggested. "I really don't think there's much more you can do out here until the damage has been assessed. Lex and Gion are working on that now."

He and Alassëa were resting for the moment - they'd been caught outside in the storm, but with his firecasting ability and her healing ability, all they needed now was to sit down and get their energy back.

"We'll go do that then," Lin murmured as she made her way up the patio.

She paused half way and then looked back at Aethos.

"Do you know who or what flew overhead just a moment ago?"

With the people they were traveling with one never knew.

Aethos looked over at Lin. "Kelirahc is taking Leyenda and Amalirahc south, to Lady Arwen," he told her. "Leyenda is not doing well. Since Chansond'eau we have known that she's been having trouble, and in the Eastland we learned that she is with child ... when she was expecting Amalirahc, she had a difficult pregnancy, and it seems this one is to be no better. During the storm, she fell quite ill, and she wanted to return to her mother."

"I offered to help her," Alassëa spoke up quietly, "but I think that though her mother is also a healer, if I recall correctly, she wanted to see her simply because she's her mother. I can understand that."

"But you'll have to let Miyuki know that Amalirahc's gone now," Aethos added.

"Hopefully, she won't be too upset she didn't get to say goodbye," Lin murmured.

She also hoped that Lin wouldn't get lonely, while she got along better with River at times than with Amalirahc, there were times Miyuki was caught between two ages. The little kitsune wasn't quite ready to settle down like the way River was (and probably wouldn't be for many years or even decades), but she didn't have the kind of jump first and ask questions later mentality as Amalirahc did. It had been nice for Miyuki to go back between the two, play like a child but still be able to have a conversation like a young adult.

Thinking this, Lin thanked Aethos and Alassea for the information before stepping back into the house.

Once the children had calmed down a bit, Earendil had given them strict instructions to stay in the living room before he himself headed to the kitchen to help Laer pick up the pieces of broken glass from the window. Andarien was snuggling with Miyuki on a couch, but when the door opened and Lin came back inside, he sprang from the couch with a cry of "Nana!" and attached himself to her leg.

"I wasn't gone for that long was I?" Lin asked softly as she petted Andarien's hair, "Careful now, I might have a few glass shards in my shirt so don't touch the back kay?"

Since the back of her regular shirts extended, it allowed her to keep that midriff she had since childhood but give herself more modesty (and Helen would say style).

Miyuki slid off the couch and joined her mother and brother.

"Ada went to clean up the glass window, what happened to your shirt?"

"Trying to get a glass dome off the ground," Lin replied, "I ran into Aethos and Alassea outside. Leyenda is feeling ill again so she, Kelirahc and Amalirahc have left to see her mother."

"Really? I didn't get to say bye," Miyuki's ears drooped.

Andarien understood only a word or two of what Lin said, but he was so relieved to see her again that he didn't let it bother him.

"Nana," he said, looking up at her anxiously, "is everybody okay? Did nobody get hurt? That was a big storm!"

"Everyone is fine," Lin replied.

Of course she had forgotten that she had to switch back to common elvish, she truly felt sorry for Andarien. It was going to be hard on him when he couldn't just get people to translate for him.

"Though Leyenda isn't feeling well so she went to see her mother, so Kelirahc and Amalirahc have also left."
