Allegro It's not about you, though. I know that. I'm just expressing my own opinion. If people are happy with Thanksgiving, fine. It's just when I don't feel right personally about something, I sometimes make it known.

Yeah, people get upset when someone expresses their feelings towards something socially acceptable/expressed.

I think it should be noted that I don't really hate Thanksgiving. It's like any other major holiday to me: a day that the entire family gets together and we talk, party, have fun, etc.
There's just a difference each time.
Easter: We decorate eggs. Thanksgiving: We eat dead poultry. Christmas: We give gifts to each other.
I no longer really celebrate them for their original meanings like birth of Jesus, harmony between pilgrims/indians, etc. because many of these original meanings have all these condradictory aspects behind them that get me down.

LightsideDarksider l-Kathulu-l Yeah, people get upset when someone expresses their feelings towards something socially acceptable/expressed. I'm just tired of my own beliefs and practices causing tension within my family and when I provide my reasons why, they call it "cynicism." I'll admit, I don't say the pledge of allegiance because I think it's brainwashing, and I don't pray or say grace because I don't really believe in God. It's hard getting a Christian family to understand why I'm like that. No, parents, I don't want to go to church on Christmas Eve or on Easter or anytime, really. I'm 19 freaking years old, if I don't want to go, I don't want to go! Seriously, has anyone noticed that most of this praying (i.e. begging, pleading, whining) is done on a Sunday which is supposed to be 'God''s day off? Seems kind of rude to me that you'd come to a supreme being with a bunch of problems on his day for R&R. Yeah, I can't stand having someone talk about God and all that. I don't not believe in a God, I just don't believe enough in one. If someone has their own views and everything, that's fine. Don't go off preaching the right way to live to me, I'm not interested. We had some guy come into Comerica Park in Detroit and he was preaching about hope and happiness and other stuff. I thought that was fine, but then he included finding God and I just got sick of him. Same with things like "Divine Destiny" and crap like that. We had a discussion in English and we had to go to one side of the room for agree, and the other was disagree. One thing I agreed with, but then the next question popped up and it read, "Everyone goes through a phase of self-discovery to find out who they really are." The teacher was only half way through explaining and I stood up and said "That's bullcrap," and walked to the other side of the room. I just can't stand things like that.

LightsideDarksider Wondering whether I should eat out tonight or eat freaking soup again. Soup? Soup sucks. You need to get some cookware for Christmas. You live in a dorm right? Is there any kind of communal kitchen? Learn to cook and make friends.
