"Garbage" sounds too much like Rap, and I absolutely despise Rap, therefore, I dislike "Garbage." Also, saying "If you think that's good, try listening to" implies that "Garbage" would be similar to "Hummingbirds," which, it is not. Hummingbirds; Sweet, slow, serene. Garbage; Aggresive, fast, violent. So, Liking Hummingbirds =/= Liking Garbage

I wouldn't say that the statement implies what you think it does, but it can. It simply says that he doesn't quite share the same taste, and cared to share the very epitome of music, to him.
Though, in my opinion, he really should've asked if I wanted his opinion on what he thought was better than the aforementioned "Hummingbirds." My most likeliest of answers would've been "No." and then some quick sardonic quip about the question, then later amend and say something similar to "I was being sardonic. I wouldn't actually mind for your opinion." and then give another sardonic quip possibly pertaining to his opinion not being able to dissuade my own.
