*she sits by a barrel and looks up at the sky with glazed eyes, almost as if her life were about to end. Though, she nearly believed it as well. To be under English rule again, Piss! She let her arms hang lazily by her sides, her legs tossed in front of her, laying in any direction they chose.*

*She made her way to the main deck and to the Doctor's side as she surveyed the area. The ship certainly looked plagued: bodies laying about in corners, materials strewn about the decks, even the living looked as if they were one foot in the grave. A cold shudder overtook her as she stood quietly beside the good Doctor. She looked to him for some of the materials necessary to look as if death's grasp had not overlooked her as well.

Jaden, after getting quite deathly looking, looked up towards the Doctor and without hesitation, gave him a quick peck on the cheek and hugged him quickly once more before she went back to where she was to stand. She attempted to appear dieing as best she could. She peered behind the Lady and noticed the Bodicea almost close enough to make out faces of the crew. They hadn't much time before she would be right atop of the Lady Washington. *

(|Continued from Wardroom & Stern Cabin|)

-: Coming up through the scuttle like so many times before, Kurisutofa reappeared on the Quarterdeck - tall as ever and his presence looming like a massive shadow over the ship. Going to the Swivel-Gun that was mounted upon the port rail, Jack tore the lead booklet from his pocket and began ripping pages from it. Bringing the muzzle inboard, he grabbed the tampion from it's mount on the bulkhead and rammed it down into the gun. Swabbing the inside, he spun the rod in his hand and pulled it from the gun only to ram the crinkled and ripped dispatches into the gun and ram them home with the butt end of the ram-rod. Turning about, he gazed frantically for the gunner. "Miss Ares! Stand to and bring me a 5 lb. shot & a small cask of powder." :-

*Ares perks up at the sound of her name, and stands to attention. Following the orders, she grabs the 5lb shot and carries it under her arm to the Captain. She hands him a small cask of powder, previously clipped to her belt, and follows with the shot. She stands by to whatever orders he might give next.*

-: "Thank you, my dear. Now, if you'd be so kind as to strike a light, please keep a slow-match burning so as to be on the ready. I want to put a warning shot abaft the Boadicea's bows. We'll make a bad show of things so as to give the impression that we're not in the right of our wits.
Now, if I could deprive you of that powder..."

Taking the hip-cask of fine powder, Jack cupped his hand about the touch hole atop the gun and poured the powder deep into the breech. The wads of paper having been rammed not entirely into the back of the breech, the powder filled in the space just behind the dispatches. Topping off the touchhole with a small mountain of black powder, Jack turned to Miss Ares. "Now, if you'd please slide that shot down the muzzle, we'll ram her down and then prepare to fire. It's all or nothing now, aye?" :-

Alright, here goes....
*she takes to the barrel and slides the shot in, and stands back for a moment. She takes out a match and strikes it on the sole of her boot. She holds it aloft to the Captain*

-: "On my signal, Miss Ares." Poised, Jack turned and looked to the crew who gathered in the waist of the ship, who stood there, blinking in the sun. "Courage now... Courage, Men. I Want Bellyaching All About The Deck When They Come Within Pistol Shot."

Turning back to the Boadicea as she glided closer still - now within spitting distance - Jack nodded to Ares. "Put a shot abaft her bowsprit, Miss Ares - if you please." Just before he finished the thought, he shoved the remains of his dispatch booklet into the barrel, the lead weighted cover disappearing into the dark breech of the gun."Fire." :-

Baxter was quite uneasy with current events. This was most likely for the best as he was sweating profusely with nervousness. He was also quite unsure of Miss Kale's actions. He did not know if it was a heat of the moment thing, or if she had genuine feelings for him. Quietly, he glanced down at her and smiled. He looked exhausted, his body looked almost limp and his eyes looked heavy. With the crew acting as if they had the plague, He would try to look as if he was tending to them the best he could despite being infected himself.

To be sure of his course of action, he addressed the Captain quietly.
"Sir, is it ok if I am to leave my station to move about to give the look of trying to tend to the crew?"

-: Kurisutofa, placing the ramrod upon the bulkhead, turned to look to Reginald. He looked ragged - worn - like an old boot. The man obviously needed some sort of rest, but whether or not he would take it without being confined to his cabin against his own will & by captains orders was entirely beyond Jack. "Aye, at your ease, Doctor. But whatever you do, do not show a vast array of medical supplies. Make it look as if you're working out of your pocket - use rusted canvas needles and oakum if you need to. Just look as unseamanlike as ever you can."

He laughed at his own words. Doctor Baxter wouldn't have a hard time looking at all un-seamanlike. Infact, though he'd been aboard for what seemed an eternity now, Jack still saw times when Reginald would hesitate when told to report to the foret'sty'sle halyardline on the quarter-portfife. Even so, this made him no less of a man. Not everyone could saw off a man's skull, pick his brains and set him to rights all fine and too laroo. :-

"Right, thank you then, I shall be off to tend to my duties then."

With that, Reginald turned and began about his task.

As he kneeled down in front of the first sailor, he closed his eyes to rub them. It only seemed like...a...mo....ment. His exhaustion having finally caught up with him, Baxter passed out on deck right next to the man he was going to be "treating."

-: Gazing as Baxter went to his first patient, Jack looked on in amazement as Reginald stooped, knelt, tippedover and fell fast asleep ondeck. If there was one seamanlike habit that the good doctor had picked up, it was apparently exhausting himself. "Miss Ravenhart, would you be a dear and fetch a pillow and a blanket for the Doctor? Have one of the men scoop him up and place him upon the mainhatch. A little fresh air and sleep will put him in good spirits again."

Smiling and chuckling to himself, Kurisutofa turned his attention back to the task at hand. The Boadicea was alongside now, ports open and guns run out. Seventy-four menacing gun muzzles staring them straight in the face as the two ships drew to each others side. The english ship seemed to loom over the small brig. 'Lucky Jack' was beginning to question faith in his own luck. "God, help us" :-

Destiny popped up from her perch on the Quarterdeck railing, and jumped down to the deck, her boots makeing a soft thud against the wood. As she strode towards the hatchway, she let herself sway side to side, in keeping with the appearence that the crew were in the grip of plauge.

When she reached the hatchway, she quickened her pace. She made her way down to the galley, where she rubbed ashes on her face, into her hair, and all over her clothes- to make it seem she was more ill than she was. Then, she dashed down to the infirmery, and grabbed two blankets and a pillow, and then dashed back up to the deck.

As soon as her head reached the hatchway, she slowed to the same wobbling walk as before. She snagged one of her guncrew to help move the doctor. The crewman picked up the docter, and carefully carried him to the mainhatch, as Destiny directed, then went back to his duties.

Destiny spread out the two blankets over the doctor, and gently, almost tenderly, lifted his head and put the pillow beneath. She turned his head to the side so he could still breathe, and then carefully covered the top of his head with the blanket. This way, anyone watching would see only a dead body lying on the deck, and not target it if fighting broke out.

She stood cautiously, and wobbled her way back to where the Captain stood. Any other orders sir? She gave a half-hearted salute in his general direction.

╝Due to lack of sleep, fresh clothing, and debre from the previous incounter with the Boadicea, John already looked the part of near death. Unsheathing his blade, John used it as a support to keep himself standing to futher the charade╚

Little Omi

PostPosted: Sat May 19, 2007 12:00 pm

*It was very interesting, pretending to be dying. Omi had never done it before. It wasn't particularly difficult to look tired and weak (as, at the moment, she felt rather tired and weak), but the stuff used to make the black patches was rather itchy... She'd do her best not to scratch at them, though.*
