"I've never taught anyone to swim before," Lori said. "I'm not sure this is the best place for it either." He pointed to Toby and Maia before they disengaged. "We could do that." Or Luca could just... try to mimic Lori as he swam? Really he wasn't sure.
Toby nodded and released Maia, as he had been holding her wrists and started for the buoy.
"Mm-hm," Dari said. Yes and no, but 'yes' probably made more sense as he wasn't actually into the stuff for other reasons. Maybe he should be, though? Maybe the stone had had something to do with meeting Cody? ...nah. Rocks couldn't be magic without magic being applied to them... ... ... could they?
When they were deep enough, Dari wrapped his arms around Cody and clung to his back. There wasn't much height difference between them and as far as he knew Cody didn't have a bad back or anything. They were slick, though, and skin-to-skin. He liked that.

Luca watched Toby and Maia for a moment before nodding. He wrapped his arms around Lori. "This works," he decided.
Maia went after Toby, and after a moment, dove under water and started to move at a faster pace.
Cody cranes his neck to look at Dari, but couldn't quite manage it. "Want a ride?"

Lori began to go deeper then so Luca could float, but he kept a reassuring hold on Luca's arms as he did. He couldn't remember the fear of not knowing how to swim. It had been too long ago. He noticed both of their rings and smiled.
Toby, unaware that it was a race, continued swimming. When he began to backstroke, he noticed Maia was gone. Damnit! He picked up his pace with a laugh.
Dari kissed Cody's ear. "Nah. Just to touch. Do you?"

Luca responded negatively to going deeper, eyes widening. But he was safe! He had Lori! "While I'm sure you guys have checked, there's no elf eating creatures lurking at the bottom of the lake, is there?"
Maia reached the bouy and waited for Toby. She was grinning. "I win!" She announced.
"Nah. I'm planning to strike." He smirked. "I'll have you know I'm a splash ninja."

Lori didn't see Luca's eyes, of course, but he did feel him tense. He patted the elf's forearm to reassure him.
"Nope. Not an entity to be found. There might be some minnows though?" He looked around them. Nah. If there were, they were avoiding the people.
"You cheated!" Toby called, "I was ignorant!" He splashed Maia in revenge.
Dari tutted. Splashing! He just wanted to touch!
"I'll have you know I'm an excellent splasher."

"Minnows are fine. But people say they like to eat your dead skin," Luca was skeptical. Fish were weird--but surely not that weird?
"I didn't cheat! You were just...unobservant!" Maia splashed Toby back and swam up to him. She wrapped her arms around him. "I love you. I'd kiss you, too, but you'll taste like lake."
Cody grinned. "Good." He turned to wrap his arms around Dari. "We're fairly matched."

"Not these," Lori said. "A certain kind will, so people go to Japan and exfoliate their hands and feet, but not here." He swooshed through the water like a giant. "Some day you and me'll come here and get you some lessons in."
"Tsk," was all Toby managed before doing what but laying a big lake-y kiss on Maia's lips. "MMMMUAH."
Dari abruptly arched back and dragged Cody down into the water with him, but released him as soon as they broke the surface to avoid panic. He came up laughing.

"I think they're crazy," Luca said. "Going all the way to Japan to have fish eat you. Clever humans." He paused and smiled. "Good," he said. "Then we can swim together."
Maia choked, making a face and wiping the kiss off her lips. "Blegh!" She leaned over and kissed him again. "You taste like dead fish," She complained.
Cody stayed underwater, grabbing onto Dari's leg and trying to pull him back under playfully.

"They only eat the dead flesh!" Lori said with a laugh. He wouldn't dare mention the recent use of maggots as medical treatment for the same reason.
"I do not!" Toby said, "I taste like algae and runoff. I know this because I taste it too." He made a bit of a face and wiped his lips.
Dari let himself collapse and he went under, opening his eyes and finding his vision not especially impaired by the water in this form. Good! Of course if it were cloudy he wouldn't be able to see, but this lake was pretty still a clean. He reached out to tickle Cody's sides, now knowing whether he was actually ticklish or not.

Luca made a face. "Its disgusting," he decided. He kissed Lori's cheek. "I love you," He said. He looked around. Hm. No one was really talking to each other. "Do you want to go visit with Dari and his boyfriend?" he asked.
"You do." Maia wrinkled her nose. "And that stuff too." She let go of him and laid back to float. "I've missed this."
Cody squirmed immediately; definitely ticklish. He turned and captured Dari's lips.

Lori turned his head to be as close to Luca as possible and murmured from the corner of his mouth: "He says he's in love with him."
That being said, he started to power-stride his way toward the disappearing-reappearing couple.
Dari accepted the kiss and stood, coming out of the water not because he had to breathe but because he didn't want lake between their lips. He had forgotten everyone else was there and ran a hand over Cody's soaked curls when he heard Lori yell, "PDA!" and rumble toward them. Dari laughed and wiped the water from his face.
"Dead fish are delicious when prepared correctly," Toby said, ten watched Maia roll over and float. He decided to join her and held her hand like an otter. "Me too. We can come here when ever you want to swim. We'll just bring your pelt." And he wouldn't be joining her in the water, of course.

"Already?" Luca shook his head and followed Lori. It'd taken a while for Luca to admit his feelings for Lori. It'd been longer for him to even ask the guy out.
Cody looked around, wide eyed when he'd heard Lori. He sent a splash his way. "Jerk!" He too, had forgotten the others.
"Only when cooked." She paused at his words and frowned slightly. "No," She said. "I'd rather swim with you and Dari. And you couldn't keep up."

Lori laughed and send a great whoosh of water toward Cody who was, comparatively, much smaller. Luckily Luca should be able to stand here, even if it would be a bit deep. He had still only released one hand, though, just in case Luca wanted to stay attached.
"If you're sure," Toby said, "Dari could swim with you, and keep up. Nobody would be here in the winter unless it froze over, and it never does."

Cody sputtered as water hit his face and sent another splash towards Lori when he'd recovered. "Dari, help me," he said. He was grinning at him. "We can take them together!"
Luca let go of Lori and stood besides him. Hm. Splash fighting? It was a little deeper than what he might've liked but he could still touch. He sent a splash towards Dari and Cody.
"I don't like swimming without you," Maia murmurred. She moved and turned to kiss his cheek. "Besides. I was a seal most of my life. And I'd like to spend the rest of it with you." In this form.

And thus it began, the Homosexual Splash Fight of the Century. Lori laughed and was often a head higher than the splashes, but that didn't stop him from sending them back. Dari took to the sorts he'd learned from Toby and at least could manage great gouts of water with his newly-strong arms.
Toby smiled and gave Maia's hand a squeeze. what was that splashing-yelling-laughing sound? Boy, it was getting rather loud. Toby closed his eyes and sighed, sinking slightly before he filled his lungs up again.
"They're fighting, aren't they."
